Since there are already threads for Ford, Chrysler(Mopar), and Volkswagesn, I'm going to introduce some photo threads for all divisions of General Motors. In no particular order of class-level, I'm starting with the Cadillac. For my first pic I'm adding a 1970 Cadillac Ambulance.

Wow... that is a rare Caddy. You don't see many Hearse's! Look at those whitewall tires!

Here are some photos of a friend's '76 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham d'Elegance. Bought a few years ago with only 1,400 miles (from ebay)!
The seats, as can be seen, are like big pillows! That and the very quiet ride are what impressed me most about the car.

This is my '71 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham, which I bought back in 1995. I still own it but my dad drives it now. It still has less than 100,000 miles (about 92,000).

The same friend (who owns several Cadillacs) has this '67 Fleetwood 75 9-passenger sedan (essentially a limo except it has no partition window).

I've already posted this before, but here's the 2003 Cadillac Sixteen:

In case anybody doesn't know, "Sixteen" is the number of cylinders under the hood.

Too small (and ugly) for me. My Cadillacs must be at least 18 feet long! And have plenty of chrome, like my '69 Fleetwood. :D

Then you won't like this "Cadillac," the Cimarron! (A.K.A. a Chevrolet Cavalier with bells and whistles!)

http://www.riekmann.prohosting.com/magazin/die_schlechtesten_autos/cadillac_cimarron.jpg

Meant to be a competitior to small European and Japanese sport sedans, the Cimarron wasn't particuarly sporty, peppy, or well-handling. in fact, it was a crappy car! It was a dark moment in Cadillac's history, the darkest until the Allante was introduced!

For me, the last of the truly classic, solid Cadillacs was the 1970 model year, with the last of the desirable ones being 1976 (the last year before downsizing).

Now, let's get back to real Cadillacs. Here is a '59 Eldorado Biarritz Convertible. This one has more steel (and chrome) than 5 or 6 Cimarron's! :D

And another. 1970 Eldorado. 500-cu.-in. engine (8.2 liters), rated at 400 horsepower and an incredible 550 lbs/ft torque. This car could run 16.3 sec. @ 86 mph 1/4 miles and had a top speed of 125-130 mph.

Well, for me, Cadillac stopped making elegant, fashionable cars in 1948 and didn't start getting their act together until 1992, when the fourth -generation Seville and its Eldorado cousin were introduced. Most Cold War-era Cadiilacs come across as overglitzed living rooms on wheels for me.

Cadillac really hit a homer with the CTS, shown below. :)

There were plenty of "milestone" and "classic" Cadillacs after 1948. For instance, the '53 Eldorado Convertible is highly sought after these days and worth a small fortune. The '57 and '58 Eldorado Brougham, which had many unique features, like memory power seats, stainless steel roof and standard air conditioning, are also well respected. The FWD '67 Eldorado was admired by many and of course, Cadillac still made factory-built limousines up until 1984 (up to '87 for the shrunken, FWD limos).

BTW, where is the trunk on that "thing" in the photo?

Okay, now that we've all had a laugh with that "Cadillac," let's go back to real ones...

Top photo: 1959 Series 62 Convertible. Dazzling!

Bottom photo: 1953 Eldorado Convertible. Look at those huge chrome bumpers! (They didn't just paint the bumpers body color back then- they had chrome-plated steel bumpers; more expensive to make but well worth it).

Two more real Cadillacs:

Top photo... 1957 Eldorado Brougham (a rare right-hand drive). The owner of this car said he parked it outside of a restaurant and he returned to find a gathering of people who recognized what a rare model it was, and had staked it out for two hours in the hope of meeting the owner. The owner did not disappoint them!

Bottom photo... 1955 Convertible.

Another real Cadillac.
This is the interior of a friend's '66 Fleetwood Brougham. A very good year for Cadillacs (and most other American cars). This one has fold-down, carpeted footrests in the rear, reading lights and illuminated picnic table on the back of the front seat. It also has thick (3/8") walnut wood door paneling and the same walnut wood on the picnic trays.
The picnic tables were only available on the '66 and '67 Fleetwoods. And the last of the real wood was in the '69 models.

So then I take it this 1990 Brougham wasn't factory built.

I vaguely remember hearing about mechanical problems in custom-built limos. Does the fact that they're not factory-built have anything to do with them?

No, that one in the photo is a custom stretch. The factory Cadillac limos always had the rear door right behind the front door (no "filler" in between).

I suppose the reliability of custom-made limos varies and depends on the company who built it.

The 1992 Cadillac Seville!

http://www.4wheelz.com/cadillac/new/seville/cadillac_seville_1992.jpg

1992 was the first year for the fourth-generation Seville model; it was regarded as the most original and disticntive Cadillac since the original Nova-based (!) Seville debuted in the mid-seventies. :)

Here are two pics of my '69 Fleetwood Brougham being displayed at last weekend's all-G.M. car show. It was parked in between an '85 Eldorado (way to small for me) and a '58.

I took some new interior photos of my '76 limo for another message board, so I figured I may as well post them in this Cadillac thread. I really like how the first photo came out.

It really is fun riding in the back; almost like a living room back there!

This is a 1948 (?) Caddy ambulance, the body is a prewar "senior" model 40-47, but, i believe the car is 48 or 49 as some conversions were still being done on the pre 48 bodies at the time

1974 Fleetwood Tailsman

The Fleetwood Talisman was a very rare Cadillac. Only made three years (1974-'76).

Production: 1974: 1,898; 1975: 1,238; 1976: 1,200

For 1974, the Talisman option cost $1,800 with crushed velour seats and $2,450 with leather seats. The latter cost more than a Pinto!

Here are two photos I took of a 1974 at a car show.
