Jessica Beal of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and TV'S 7th Heaven would be a better Dasiy, I read that she was offered it. I think she was or had to do something else. Also I said this befor I'll just wacth reruns on CMT(Country Music tv).

Exactly. I was a kid when the original show was on the air, and I loved the show for all the car stunts, but alot of the older crowd probably tuned in to see what Catherine Bach was wearing.

I'm sure the folks behind the movie remake took that into consideration, so Jessica will provide plenty of eye candy.

While I agree that Simpson is pretty, over the past year or so she has used her marriage and dare I say her body to get her in the spotlight. She has used the age old let me show my body and I will be on TV to get some fans. She can act ditzy pretty well, but I dont remember Daisy being a ditz, so I wonder how it will be for Simpson to portray someone who knows what tuna fish and buffalo wings are.
I wont see the movie as I dont care to look at her body and the other cast is just as bad. I dont remember the Dukes as a comedy - comedic lines yes but not an overall comedy, and they have to many comedic style actors in it.

"Basically, they trashed our show," said Jones, who now lives in the mountains of Washington, Va. "It's one thing to do whatever movie they want to do, but to take a classic family show and do that is like taking "I Love Lucy" and making her a crackhead or something."

Jones said he read a script of the movie, which is scheduled to be released next month, and that it contained profanity, "constant sexual innuendo and some very clear sexual situations."

On Wednesday, Jones wrote an open letter to fans on his web site, cootersplace.com, urging them to stay away.

"From all I have seen and heard, the "Dukes" movie is a sleazy insult to all of us who have cared about the "Dukes of Hazzard" for so long ... ," Jones wrote. "Unless they clean it up before the August 5th release date I would strongly recommend that true blue Dukes fans hold their noses and pass this one up."

A spokeswoman at Warner Brothers pictures, which is releasing the movie, did not immediately return phone calls seeking comment on Wednesday.

I saw the trailor at the movie theater and it just looked awful They were throwing jokes around and nobody in the theater laughed. The only thing that even came close to making me laugh was when Enos gave one of his grins but if thats the highlight then its going to suck.

the main problem was the leads. I think Tom Welling would've been great as Luke and Chad Michael Murray as Bo, they resemble the originals more than Jackass and Stifler, plus neither actor is as obnoxious as those two.

I don't think the people making the movie care about the tv show or the fans. They are looking for a fast buck and cast a bunch of no talent actors in the lead and added Jessica Simpson for sex appeal. They would have been better letting Schneider and Wopat cast the movie and have a hand in the script.

When I saw the trailors for the movie I noticed they didn't mention him but their was a Sheriff in the promos with a mustache that I thought must be him. I know. Most of these movies have cameos by the former stars, even some of the movies that weren't so good so this one must really be bad.:(

I think it will probably bomb. Honestly the only TV Remakes I saw that were any good were The Fugitive, The Addams Family Movies, The Brady Bunch Movies and Mission Impossible.

THERE'S GONNA AT LEAST BE A TV-DVD :). For example, Starsky And Hutch season 1 came out in time for the theatrical release, and season 2 came out to coincide with the DVD release of the film. DOH season 4 is coinciding with the movie (it might've been a longer wait if the movie didn't happen) and it's pretty likely we'll see the fifth season to come out with the movie on DVD. Looks like Sony's going to same route with Bewitched since I keep hearing season 2 will be out later this fall, in time for the movie, AND THIS IS SONY!!. lol.

For some of the holdout titles I've been waiting for, I hope they make bastardized cheesy movies that insult the legacy of the series if it means I'm going to see seasons of it on DVD, lol.

I am a huge Dukes of Hazzard fan. I don't know how they can make the movie without Rosco. Are you sure he is not in the movie?? On the imdb website it says that M.C. Gainey is cast as Rosco.

I dunno what to do. I love the tv show, but having all the cast come out against the movie makes me want to wait a week before going to the movies. I don't want to reward hollywood for ripping apart a show I loved. But at the same time, I want to see the dukes.

Bottom line: The hapless who actually venture out to see this tedious clunker should get Hazzard pay.

A bigger-louder-dumber take on that good ol' CBS hillbilly hit, the movie version of "The Dukes of Hazzard" starts off on the wrong foot and keeps heading, appropriately, south.

Let's be honest: The hourlong series, which ran for 6 1/2 seasons (and was even able to bounce right back after its stars sat out the 1982-83 season in a contract dispute), would never be mistaken for high, or even middling, art.

But nowhere to be found here is any of the goofy charm of the original and its indefensible ability to keep the testosterone humming thanks, generally, to the revved-up General Lee and, more specifically to Daisy Duke and her, uh, Daisy Dukes.

Instead, there are a ton of dead-end car chases and remarkably few laughs, meaning this would-be action comedy quickly sputters out on both counts.

Aside from the unknown quantity represented by those who have been aching to see if Johnny Knoxville and Jessica Simpson have what it takes to become big-screen sensations, this Warner Bros. Pictures release likely will stall upon arrival.

Called upon to fill the boots of Tom Wopat and John Schneider as hell-raisin' cousins Luke and Bo Duke, Knoxville and Seann William Scott spend an awful lot of time riding around in their trusty orange Dodge Charger, but John O'Brien's script doesn't give them any real place to go.

That goes double for the rest of the characters, including Burt Reynolds as a decidedly trimmed down Boss Hogg (played by Sorrell Booke in the series) and Willie Nelson, subbing for Denver Pyle as joke-crackin' Uncle Jesse.

After having proven himself with the offbeat cult comedies "Super Troopers" and "Club Dread," both featuring fellow members of his Broken Lizard sketch troupe, director Jay Chandrasekhar might have seemed like a good choice to put a fresh spin on the material. But he seems lost without the rest of his team (who manage to pop up in assorted cameos), demonstrating a tin ear for the purported comedy and a lead foot for the daredevil sequences that wouldn't have cut it on an installment of "Jackass."

Recruited to fill out that item of apparel made famous by the underrated Catherine Bach, meanwhile, Jessica Simpson and her attire make equally brief appearances. More of her actual performance might turn up on DVD, but the bits that make it into the theatrical version play like outtakes from her more entertaining "These Boots Are Made for Walkin' " video.

Speaking of outtakes, those that show up in the end credits prove to be a lot funnier and feature cooler smash-ups than anything in the main event.

Pulling double duty, Nelson also covers the show's memorable theme song, "Good Ol' Boys," which was made famous by his old buddy, the late Waylon Jennings. But like everything else about this wayward production, it's a pale imitation of the original.

I heard people say it's good, it's playing where I live, it's getting more and more I want to see it. but, I think I hope I'll hold off from seeing it.

It has been a while since me and the General spent some quality time together. LOL, I am suprised they could find a charger to use in the movie. I pretty much figured the original tv series totaled them all.
There were a lot of Chargers built. Over 90,000 for the 1968 model year and a similar amount for the 1969 model year.
