Even though I'm 16, I still like Sesame Street - but it's gone off the air in the UK, so I'm unable to watch it. But I watched a few episodes the last time I was in America, and I'm still as fond of those characters as ever (although I was disappointed to see that the Ernie and Bert skits, which were my favourite, have been done away with.)

Does anyone still like this show? Or, at least, say, retain fond memories of watching it? Ernie and Bert were my favourites, but I loved all the characters, from Big Bird and his friend Snuffy, to Elmo and Oscar the Grouch. And then there's the Count, the Cookie Monster, the Telly Monster, and Grover...and Kermit the Frog...

And wasn't the theme song great..."Sunny day, sweeping the clouds away, on my way to where the air is sweet, can you tell me how to get, how to get to Sesame Street?"

When I watched the show, Mr. Hooper actually ran Hooper's Store. I have very fond memories of the show. I watched it in the early to late 80's. I could still watch reruns of the show, but the new episodes have too much Elmo for me.

sure i have fond memories of sesame street i remember mr. hopper simon the sound man and my faves were bert and ernie even now if im flipping thru the channels and come arcross b&e i usally stop and watch i also am with most people here who dont like the way the show has become a showcase for that insipid little elmo yuck.

I stopped watching it when I was like 10 but I wish I had a kid so I could watch it again without feeling weird. My favorite is Grover

One of my first records when I was a kid was the Sesame Street themesong w the flipside being Rubber Duckie. :)

It's nice to see people look back on it fondly. If they still showed it over here across the pond, I'd definitely try to catch it. When I was in Year Three at school (I was seven years old, then) I used to come home for lunch and it would be on. I always missed the first five or ten minutes, as it began at twelve o'clock and we didn't get home until shortly after, but the Ernie and Bert segment always used to come sometime in the middle of the programme, so I never missed them.

Can anyone tell me whether I'm right on this or not: did Ernie once sing a song about what it would be like to go to the moon? I seem to remember it, and I have the tune in my head, but I'm not completely certain...
