For those who don't know this I saw the Pope in person many, many years ago in New York City. He was in the Pope Mobile and I and the New York City crowds waved to him.

So it feels sad to see him near death. :(

Me too. I saw him the first time he came here as Pope.

We were lucky to see him. There were thousands of people waving to him.....

My mother-in-law saw him to when his visited in 1984 and has all the souvenirs to prove it. She was very upset today. She's a devout Catholic.

I'm not Catholic, but I've always really admired and respected the man. We affectionately refer to him as J2P2. Quite a man!
