Yeah, that one was pretty creepy. I was in third grade when I first saw this segment - I had a nightmare that evening and got pretty nervous every time I saw a black pick up truck.

It's horrible that we have people like this in the world. What was up with this guy anyway? Did he decide to shoot this woman in the face because he was bored? And talk about bad timing! This happened in broad daylight with many cars driving down this road that morning...but nobody drove by at the time of the shooting.

Witnesses reported a black pick up truck taunting other drivers on that road about 45 minutes before the shooting. What a nutcase!

I know this sounds perverted, but this is what I like about Unsolved Mysteries. They would always profile cases that made absolutely no sense. Somebody just getting out of their truck and deciding to shoot another motorist just for the heck of it. Even though i've only seen this episode probably one time, I still get the goosebumps thinking what that woman was going through, when the man pulled out his gun.

She didn't want her identity revealed because the man hadn't been caught. They just referred to her as "Carol".

Does anyone remember the very disturbing UM case of another woman who was I believe was also shot in the face? I have it from an NBC airing so I don't know if was ever shown on Lifetime. They referred to her as "Debby" and some cops found her coming out of the woods, naked and beaten. She had been raped and shot in the face. She did recover but I believe the bullet was still lodged in her face. They talked about on the segment how it was such a horrific injury so it must have been hard to look at. They weren't going to let "Debby" see her injury until she got better but someone had sent her one of those mylar balloons and she happened to catch a glimpse of herself in the back of it and was, of course, very upset. All they knew about the attacker was he was black (I can't remember if there was a composite) and they showed a jacket similar to the one he had worn. Ring any bells?

I remember that case, even though I have only seen it once (when it was on NBC). It appears to be another one of those UM cases that was never rerun on Lifetime, because no matter how often I have watched the Lifetime reruns, that particular case was nowhere to be seen.

I just watched the case involving "Debbie" from North Carolina, courtesy of the Echoes of Fear website.

I have one hypothesis as to why Lifetime never aired it - it is too damn SCARY! It definitely ranks WAY up there among the extremely scary UM segments. The part where Debbie is trying to run away from her attacker in the woods and the sound and picture is all disorted making his voice and movements even more terrifying - it gave me chills down my spine, and I'm a 24 year old male! "WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU'RE GOING? YOU AIN'T GOING NOWHERE!"

If I had watched it when it originally aired I doubt I would have been able to sleep without the light on for at least a week.

I really am curious as to whether or not they caught the guy.

Yeah, this was totally freaky. Since we don't know the name of the victim, there's not even a way to google the case to look for updates. They implied that they have dna to id the guy....hopefully, they've run it through the dna databank.

Agree with everything you said! I had forgotten about this case, until I also watched it on Echoes Of Fear site. Thanks again Echoes, keep'em coming!

Echoes of Fear, I am having trouble navagating through the site. I want to view a few multimedia files, but when I click on the link on the left of your website that says 'Multimedia Files', I get a blank forum. I really want to see the story you guys are talking about, but for some reason can't find the multimedia files. Could you please direct me to them. Thanks and sorry for being so web-challenged. :o :o

I PMed you regarding this, with the same message. So when you get that, and it says "the story you guys are talking about", you know which one I meant.

Can you explain to me what kind of "blank forum" you are getting. I clicked the link and it directed me to the files fine and I'm sure it works for others as well. Please be specific so that I can see if there is any problems. So far only one problem was brought to my attention, the clip about the Nyleen Marshall update wasn't available seems I forgot to upload it to my server initially..

I am so glad Lifetime finally aired this segment. :D

It is just as scary and spooky as it was the first time I watched it back in 1990, now if only Lifetime would show the Tara Calico case.
