Just like how you said 8 Simple Rules could have been preempted by the death of the Pope? You also said DH and AI would be pre-empted.

Well, considering a lot of people think that was the last episode they certainly left us with a little cliffhanger. I hope we find out if Ed Gibb takes the job in NY, or comes back to be with Cate in Detroit.

Let us all hope the writers and producers know something we don't know... :)

I watched it, thinking it was the last episode. I pray it's not, but I still had that mind set. The last scene was nice to have the whole family gathered in the living room, supporting Cate's decision to start dating. If they didn't leave us with a cliffhanger, I would have been okay with that as the finale.

I really hope it comes back for a fourth season. But if it doesn't, I hope they start releasing the series on DVD.

Back in 1997, I watched the third season finale of "NewsRadio" convinced it was the final episode. After all, it was the lowest rated sitcom on NBC at the time. However, the show came back for two more seasons. So there's always hope. And ABC might crank out another season just for a syndication deal. I mean Friday nights are just a bad night to get big ratings. It was doing fine on Tuesdays. Just put 8SR and LTP back on Tuesdays and see what happens.

I don't want to be the bearer of possibly more bad news here, but I was just on TV Guide online listings, and for the next two weeks, '8 simple Rules' is not on. 'AFV' is in it's place. Does this mean cancellation? Why not air season 2 in it's place if the 3rd was already aired? I mean really, who wouldn't love to see John again? I WOULD! :)

With these forums being the most popular on this site, why don't the ratings add up? I mean some shows have had like 10 posts in the last 5 years, but these forums always seem to be where it's happening. Too bad that doesn't translate to big ratings. ABC better renew the show or else I'm going to cry.
