For those of you who don't know or never saw The Golden Palace, let me tell you what happened to the characters during it's run:

First of all, the girls sold the house and bought a hotel. Soon after it is revealed that Miles has been cheating on Rose for years. She drops him and finds herself unattached. A few episodes later, a woman (Nanette Fabray) asks Rose's help to plan a cow themed wedding. Rose is stunned to discover Miles is the groom. During the run, Rose also encounters a man who looks exactly like Charlie (Eddie Albert). This is much like the Golden Girls episode where Blanche gets a visit from her brother in law Jamie. Blanche also dates a number of men during The Golden Palace. Ricardo Montalban plays a fellow hotelier whom Blanche dates, she also dates a gigalo (Barry Bostwick) and also a country bumpkin (Dick Gautier) who wants her to have his children. In one episode, Blanche and Rose fight over the attentions of one man (Dick Van Patten). Blanche's daughter, Rebecca, appears in an episode as well as her long lost brother Tad Hollingsworth (Ned Beatty), who is mentally ********. Dorothy visits in a two-parter and wants Sophia to move in with her and Lucas. However, in the end she realizes Sophia is happy where she is. Stan is still around and guest stars in one episode, where he fakes his death to avoid paying taxes. In the final episode, Spring Break comes to Miami and the girls, Roland and Chuey have to fight college students sneaking beer into the rooms. Rose also gets a visit from her grandaughter in the last episode.

Other guest stars during it's run include:

George Burns (an old friend of Sophia's)
Harvey Korman
Tim Conway
Kim Fields (Roland's ex-girlfriend)
Ja'net DuBois (Roland's mother)
Ken Kercheval

I hope this brings you up to date as to what happened to the Golden Girl characters once the series was renamed The Golden Palace.
