View Full Version : Guess the Episode
Carrie 03-28-2005, 12:38 PM I thought it would be fun to post screen caps from various episodes and try to guess which episode each one came from. The winner gets to post the next image. Please feel free to use the screen caps on my site. They can all be found here (http://www.iceblue-fusion.net/modules/xcgal/index.php?cat=2).
Here's the first one. All I need is the episode name and the characters that are in the picture. Any other information is welcome too. Hints can be given if no one is able to guess the correct episode.
TripperFan 03-28-2005, 01:34 PM Is it the one where the guys make Rob feel like he's "whipped" at home? The Good Old Bad Old Days?
N.B. - I'm surprised with your recent news you didn't post a pic from the ep they showed this morning - the timing was perfect for you!! (The one where Rob explains to Ritchie about the day he was born)!
Carrie 03-28-2005, 05:06 PM Oh man! I was at work so I didn't get to see that one. It's one of my favorite episodes. :D
No, this one is from an earlier episode in season 1. Rob is trying to decide what to do about something Mel asked him about Laura.
TripperFan 03-28-2005, 05:18 PM OH RIGHT!!! Sorry - I'm not nearly as good at this at most of the people on the DVD forum (and I used to think I was and am in my own circles, but you guys are truly amazing)!! 'Course in fairness, I don't have any of the DVD sets or anything either - just watch on TV Land whenever I can!!
O.k. - is it the one (sorry - don't know the show's title) where the show (Mel) asks if Laura could fill in for one of the dancers for a week and she does a great job and they offer her a permanent role? Buddy warns Rob that if Laura gets a taste of dancing professionally again, she'll let being a mother and wife come second. Rob freaks, but meanwhile she realizes that she can't really handle the rehearsals and would prefer just maybe one week out of the year?????
And yeah, today's episode is one of my all time FAVS - Ritchie's birth and the one about the day they brought him home and Rob thought they got the wrong baby! Best episodes yet! You should watch them while you're in labor with your latest creation!!!
Carrie 03-28-2005, 05:51 PM Correct! The episode is To Tell or Not to Tell. Your turn!
TripperFan 03-28-2005, 05:53 PM O.k. - give me a minute here - I've got to find a site I can get some pics that I don't think you'll know right off!!
TripperFan 03-28-2005, 06:16 PM Boy - do I feel stupid!! How the heck do you insert an image? I can't seem to just copy and paste and when I go to the insert image icon, it does nothing?!?!?!
JudgeGarth 03-28-2005, 07:06 PM I like this topic. Sorry, I don't have any pics to post, but isn't this going to take up a lot of bandwidth?
SawgrassSteve 03-28-2005, 07:29 PM Boy - do I feel stupid!! How the heck do you insert an image? I can't seem to just copy and paste and when I go to the insert image icon, it does nothing?!?!?!
TripperFan,
Click on "Reply" or "Quote", then insert your text, then click on "Manage Attachments," and follow the prompts.
I like this topic. Sorry, I don't have any pics to post, but isn't this going to take up a lot of bandwidth?
Yes, JudgeGarth
So let's keep 'em small. A pic 1/3 the size of Carrie's is just as easy to see :nerd: . Besides, I think they have a shelf life. Some of our old posts are no longer visible.
If it get's to be too much I guess TJ will let us know.
Steve
TripperFan 03-28-2005, 09:13 PM I am so sorry about this guys!
I feel so stupid and I know I'm holding up this whole thread! I really DO normally know what I"m doing with computers - its my job but this one's just drivin' me!!
I hit "reply" as you normally would, went to manage attachments, browsed and picked up the pic I wanted, made sure it was in the correct format (jpg)and small enough and uploaded it. Its sitting right there in the "attach files" section, but now that's it! I can't seem to get inserted for the life of me! Shouldn't it just automatically now be inserted? It doesn't give me any further prompts. I even tried the insert icon but nuthin'!!
Maybe you should just move on without me?!! :( Hey - it DID work - finally)!
David VP 03-29-2005, 12:10 AM TripperFan.........
You really don't need to mess with the "Image Attachment" dealie. I've always found it easier when posting images to simply copy-&-paste the URL of the image -- and then manually type the and tags around the ends of the pic's URL. It's faster for me.
Just use those image tags -- and at the beginning & end of the image address/URL, and your picture will be formatted and viewable when you post it.
I'll pick up the game with this image of Lovely Laura :) .........

Oh is that all? O.k. then - I knew there had to be a shortcut! That sucked!
Oh well, if anyone needs a hint I can provide.
Sorry to hog, but this one looks easy - the one where Rob was taking "private" art lessons with the hottie and Laura was about to walk in while she was doing the "touch" painting technique ??
David VP 03-29-2005, 12:40 AM Ding! Ding! Tripper is correct!
It's from "Draw Me A Pear", as Laura walks in on Rob and "Little Miss Schemer" / "teacher". :)
Let's try..........
"Men's watches!!!"

TripperFan 03-29-2005, 12:57 AM Empress Carlotta's Necklace with Gavin MacLeod (Mel's cousin). Bonus points - how much was it, and how much did Rob pay? (this one was just mentioned recently on another thread)!!
David VP 03-29-2005, 01:02 AM "With the discount -- $35." (Marked down from $37.50. :))
SawgrassSteve 03-29-2005, 11:50 AM Just use those image tags -- and at the beginning & end of the image address/URL, and your picture will be formatted and viewable when you post it.
Thanks, David VP! Would you believe I didn't know about that shortcut?
See TripperFan, we're all still learning :2help !
Steve
TripperFan 03-29-2005, 12:15 PM I'm living proof that you CAN teach an old doggy new tricks! HA!! :D
O.k. - don't want to hog all the questions so someone else is welcome to post the next pic!
Lolac 03-29-2005, 12:21 PM Wow, you guys are making me dizzy!
Lolac
Carrie 03-29-2005, 02:06 PM
I didn't even think about the bandwidth issue. Sorry about that TJ! I think if we use the img tags, that will reduce it. Thanks for the suggestion David VP!
Here's one:

David VP 03-29-2005, 10:48 PM Thanks for the suggestion David VP!
No problem, kids in Van Dyke land.
I've always done it that way (re. the images). I never use the "Manage Attachments" dealie unless totally necessary (I guess some sites might REQUIRE you to add images that way). But usually you can just use the [img] tags; plus it eliminates the box that says "Attached Images" around your picture.
That last pic.......Hmmmmm, that's a stumper. I'm thinking it could be from Rob eavesdropping on Laura's talking in the "Surprise" birthday ep.; but I don't think that's it, because Rob did all his "spying" from the OTHER side of the kitchen door in that one. Hmmmm....I don't know. And I don't wanna cheat....so somebody else can have a try. :)
BTW -- Note Rob's shadow being cast in 2 places on the wall behind him (from the bright studio lighting I would imagine).
TripperFan 03-29-2005, 10:51 PM Yeaaaahhhh...Rob's definitely eavesdropping, and is hearing something that's making him feel VERY uncomfortable....he's also really spiffed up - once again, too lazy to look up the title, but is it the one with Jim Darling (Robert Vaughn) as the sponsor that week and they had him over for drinks and dessert??
David VP 03-29-2005, 10:57 PM Tripper might have it; but I'm not sure. It could also be from "The Death Of The Party", when Rob is sick but pretends not to be at a Petrie-hosted party. He was "spiffed" in that ep. as well. :)
David VP 03-29-2005, 11:01 PM O/T (BTW) -- What's the deal with the "Signatures" on this Sitcoms site? Sometimes they appear; sometimes they don't. I've noticed that Carrie's "Ice Blue" sig is there sometimes in this thread; sometimes not. Same with mine. Weird eh?
EDIT -- Upon further examination into different separate pages of threads here @ Sitcoms, I've figured out the Sig thing -- It seems that Signatures at the bottom of posts ONLY appear in our very first post on EACH PAGE. Further posts on that page have no sig. So all we get is ONE Signature per Forum Page. Strange, but apparently true.

No, ODD but true.
TripperFan 03-30-2005, 01:03 AM No, ODD but true.
Yeah - its to save bandwidth. Methinks.
Good guess...although he looks pretty healthy in the pic. I think when he was sick he looked awful as long as nobody was looking. That's what makes me think its the other ep.
So - Carrie - yes...no? We'll have to wait to see I guess!
Carrie 03-30-2005, 12:15 PM No, this image is from a season 1 episode. It was taken during one of Rob and Laura's famous dinner parties and features one of Rob's army buddies.
TripperFan 03-30-2005, 12:29 PM OOOOOHHHHHHH O.K. - the one where Rob and Laura were hosting the stuffed shirt of a sponsor that was into cars and Sol dropped by unexpectedly. He even went so far as to get a date for it (some crass, floozy type). This scene would have been as Rob was overhearing the conversation about cars getting heated!
Right? :D
octobereve 03-30-2005, 01:43 PM I'm going to guess it's when Harry the Horse came to visit with his paper bag of jewels, and Rob is listening to Harry and his wife talk to Richie about the "baroke" pearls and Rob's watch.
TripperFan 03-30-2005, 03:26 PM I'm going to guess it's when Harry the Horse came to visit with his paper bag of jewels, and Rob is listening to Harry and his wife talk to Richie about the "baroke" pearls and Rob's watch.
I was thinking of that one too and it could well be, just didn't think Rob was that spiffed up that night.
Course - they spiffed up a lot didn't they? I remember in those days men even wearing dress shirts and slacks on Saturdays at home!
You just might have it!!
David VP 03-30-2005, 03:48 PM It can't be the "Harrison B. Harding" ep -- because Rob did his "tomato-juice-in-my-ear" eavesdropping through the bedroom wall; not the kitchen. There was some spying done in the kitchen, though, in that ep.; but Laura was right next to Rob then.
It must be "Sol And The Sponsor".
octobereve 03-30-2005, 03:52 PM I certainly can't remember which suit Rob wore in any particular episode. They all basically looked alike to me since the show was black-and-white. LOL I just picked that episode cuz I can't remember if Rob was in the kitchen, looking like he was eavesdropping in Sol and the Sponsor.
Carrie 03-30-2005, 04:06 PM Sol and the Sponsor is correct. Next!
ClassicTVGal 07-03-2005, 08:44 PM Which episode do they flashback to where Laura meets Rob's parents... and she's not exactly "all there"? LOL
KennedyDean 07-03-2005, 08:50 PM ""Pink Pills for Purple Patients"
Love it!!!
octobereve 07-03-2005, 08:55 PM Pink Pills and Purple Parents!
In which episode did Millie exclaim, "I shoulda married Sam Fineshreiber!"?
SawgrassSteve 07-09-2005, 02:54 PM Pink Pills and Purple Parents!
In which episode did Millie exclaim, "I shoulda married Sam Fineshreiber!"?
OctoberEve,
Was that one from "Punch Thy Neighbor"?
Here's one;
Which episode included characters named "Hy & Blanche" and what were they noted for?
Steve
octobereve 07-09-2005, 03:21 PM :) That is correct, Steve.
Dorothys BestPal 07-10-2005, 08:05 PM That was " A Day in the Life of Alan Brady. Hy was a drunk and Blanche was a flirt.
SawgrassSteve 07-11-2005, 09:45 AM That was " A Day in the Life of Alan Brady. Hy was a drunk and Blanche was a flirt.
That's right, Dorothys BestPal! Got one for us?
Steve
