Tonight I watched the movie "Rosewood" with Esther Rolle. How many Good Times fans have watched this? This movie must've been filmed shortly before her death.

Saw it, excellent. When i first fell in love with the mangod that is Ving Rhames. I could never watch that movie again though..too emotional...too sad.
Yea, the last 2 movies she did before she died was Rosewood (which I believe she passed before the movie even came out..I could be wrong though) and Down in the Delta (Alfre Woodward). If you haven't seen that, you should see it. Classic Ester Rolle.

great actress. i believe she also did a few stints of Raisin in the Sun when it was on Broadway and off Broadway back in the day.

She was also in "Driving Miss Daisy" which I think was one of her last roles.

I haven't caught Rosewood yet, but I do remember her playing a senile dementia sufferer in Down in the Delta which came out just after she died. That was spooky to watch. What did she die from?

Her performance in Raisin in the Sun with Danny Glover was broadcast on PBS in 1989 and is available on videotape. She was good in that part.

I think Esther died from complications caused by diabetes. A real loss!!! :(
