FOL & DS fan 4ever 10-23-2001, 07:16 PM Hmmm, I don't remember, but the movie was released in 1985, so probably the majority of it was filmed in 1984. Check to see which Family Ties eps were released in 1984.... TV Guy 10-23-2001, 07:42 PM I do remember reading at the time that "Back to the Future" was filmed partially during the "Family Ties" hiatus, and later at night after "Family Ties" was finished shooting. I don't believe MJF cut down on his appearances to accomodate the movie. Mcfly 10-26-2001, 02:41 AM Well, from an old interview MJF gave that I have on tape, he said it was January of '85, just after Eric Stolz had been canned as Marty. He said a week after getting the script he was in the mall parking lot for his first scene. So all I could suggest is watch that copyright date during the end credits of "Ties". As soon as the 85 episodes start, I would guess that was about the time he was working on BTTF. From what Lea Thompson says, he would finish "Ties" taping or rehearsals at about 10 at night, then come to the BTTF set, often sleeping during down time on a mattress in the back of his truck. Ah, the stories. Well, hope that helped somewhat. I've always figured that the episode's plot was a nod to Michael J Fox's then upcoming film. Remember how, when Doc is demonstrating to Marty how his time machine works, he presses in the date of the Declaration of Independence? In the aforementioned episode, Alex does get to go back to that date - albeit in a dream. |
