While browsing around on a website called findadeath.com, I found quite a bit of vicious Hollywood gossip, but also some really nice stories and one of them was about Alan Hale...
On the day that he died (Jan. 2, 1990) Mr. Hale was already in the hospital. He had been told previously that his cancer had matastisized and there was nothing left to do as far as treatment. On that day, he knew very well that his time was here. As his wife, Trinket, sat by his bed he didn't talk about dying, but instead looked out the window and declared what a beautiful day it was, adding "I think I'll just hang out here until the sun sets." A little later as the sun sank below the horizon, he passed away.
A terrific story about a man I've always heard was a wonderful human being.
