I am hearing so many mixed things about AD that I don't know what to believe anymore.

I have to say though, I finally agree...the negativity is getting to me, and I'm starting to feel very bummed out.

Anyone else with me? :( :(

I am trying to stay positive, but with all of these mixed things coming in....it's very hard. :(

I feel responsible for making everyone feel bummed. I have only been trying to report what I've read and heard to keep us updated. I apologize again.

The news from Enetertainment Weekly is apparently a small bit of good news, as are the articles from critics popping up in newspapers around the country urging NBC to renew the show. Ratings for the show went back up over the 7 million mark this week, and with the season finale next week I bet you we go over 8 million.

That is making me feel a whole lot better! Thank you! :D

I usually try to read only the posts about the story line itself.

And I mostly only come here after an episode as aired.

I love American Dreams, but I have reached an age where I know that whatever is going to happen, is going to happen. It all comes down to the mighty dollar.

I will appreciate my Pryors for as long as I can have them.

Trish I'm with you I go here to post usually about the storyline itself like when we are talking about the episode after we see it and at 26 I am also whatever it comes down to it comes down to.

But you have to admit that Negativity is Depressing right no matter what age you are if ratings drop for Ad some of the fans 's belief in this show drops with it and they loose faith in it I mean I have seen that happen here...Mel

This is for PRETTYINPINK and anyone else feeling bummed.

First of all, NOTHING is your fault about anyone but you feeling bummed. Anyone can feel how they wish to feel.

I've been a part of this forum for a while now, and a few things have happened this year that haven't happened in the past......at least that I don't remember happening.

First of all.........we used to get 12-13 million viewers at the start.
These days we get 7 million.

Next, we were always on Sunday nights.........a family night for a family show.
We have been moved to Wednesdays.

Next, I can't remember any year when even one cast member signed on to do a pilot.
This year we have at least 4-5 of the major cast members signing on to do pilots.

I don't ever remember Jonathan Prince in any article talking about possible cancellation.
This year, there have been more than one.

I've never read any where in past years where we were in doubt of being renewed for the next year.
This year you read it in more than one place.

Like all of you, I feel bummed...........but not to the point of depression. I have my AD dvd's to watch.......I can control that.
Things that are out of my control WILL NOT BUM ME OUT, I can't feel bad about what I can't have any control of. Life happens.......all I can do is try my best.

Peace.

OY!...
Is it just me... or has everyone, or at least a significant number of folks on this site... seemed to just give up on American Dreams?

I cannot for the life of me understand why SO MANY wonderful fans on this site lately have all but given up... and assumed American Dreams is already cancelled... especially when NBC hasn't declared anything like that.

the ONLY certain thing is... it's been moved to a different night and ratings are down.
Yeah... of course, thats not the most encouraging news.

But the ONLY news that counts is when we all hear the words from NBC itself... CANCELLED!
... and that hasn't happened.

Maybe this next thought sounds a bit corny... but then again, this thought might hold some resonance with true fans of American Dreams.

The title of this show is "American DREAMS"... not "American PESSIMISM".
... I challenge you all as fellow fans to DARE to DREAM that your favorite show still has a chance... until you hear otherwise.

Isn't that more productive... and HEALTHIER for us all... than for each of us to keep posting stuff about feeling "Bummed Out".
No offense to anyone on that... including "PIP"... because she is a TRUE fan... as is everyone else on this site.

But, with only best wishes to everyone in mind... give YOURSELVES a break!!!!
WAIT until you actually have someting to TRULY be bummed about.

If next week, "AD" is cancelled... hey, we're all due a well-deserved "pity party"
But until that happens... and IT WELL MAY NOT HAPPEN...
... keep the faith.

Maybe I'm the eternal optimist... and was raised to have faith in the positive.
But I'd rather look at life in a hopefully positive light as long as possible... before a negative reality sets in.

the same holds true for our wait for word on American Dreams' fate.
Ya know you'll feel bad if the show is indeed cancelled... so why worry and start mourning EARLIER THAN YOU have to.

JEEZ... a lot of us are acting like the show is DEAD... and they havent even aired the last episode.
If you've already given up... respectfully, save yourselves even more grief... and don't watch the last episode.

Enjoy the fact that the show has a new episode to come.
Otherwise... you end up being miserable... instead of enjoying a show that's still on the air... at least so far.
... and may yet continue.

I can't say it any clearer than that. I love ya all as fellow fans...
... but as for me, I'm not giving up until NBC says the final word... pro or con.

Til then, I'm enjoying the show.
Peace.

See you all Wednesday night/Thursday morning.

As one of "them" who have posted ratings news and other topics that at sometimes have been seen as "negative", I have the following thoughts:

As fans of AD we have RESPONSIBILITY.
You see your best friend crossing the street and you ALSO see a car coming..........do you yell at your friend to be careful?

"tvobscurities", "pavanbadal", "ADfan", myself and others have been merely stating the facts.
"Hey fellow fans.......a car is coming" is all we have been doing.

To all who have written emails, post cards, letters and signed petitions.....WOULD YOU HAVE DONE ANY OF IT WITH TOTAL IGNORANCE OF THE SINKING RATINGS?

NO......not at all.
You would continue to EXPECT next week's show to air, talk about it during the week that follows, and then REPEAT step one until the season ends.

The FIRST STEP to all of the fan response that NBC is so supposedly impressed by WAS OUR REPORTING CONCERN FOR SINKING RATINGS.
Like it or not, we play a role.

If we were TRULY negative......we would have noticed the ratings sinking and NOT SAID A WORD, thus allowing the eventual to happen.....CANCELLATION.
You would have woken up one morning and read in the papers that AD was cancelled and been totally shocked and wondering "what happened......I wish I could do something".........TOO LATE!

I will continue to scream "A CAR IS COMING" to not only my friends, but ANYONE I see crossing the street and I see a car coming.
It doesn't mean the car will hit him/her, but to ignore the car as if it wasn't there is NOT RESPONSIBLE.
Sure, the car may miss him/her........but why take the chance when you have a chance to help?

Peace.

Well maybe if somebody crosses the street tell them to look both ways a few times. That's all I have to say I'm done.I already know who I should chat with and who not too and trust me a good majority here I won't chat with.

Farewell,Happy Easter Mel

Dear "Luv2DreeM"

First of all, THANK YOU for your efforts... your point is well taken and you're right, to a point.

SECOND...This site shouldn't become adversarial, OK? We're all in this TOGETHER as fans.

We all want American Dreams to survive... and, as in many stressful situations... people become sensitive, nervous, and perhaps prone to misunderstandings... including ME.

However, As one of those who wrote one of the postings decrying the sense of pessimism that seemed to be hovering over the mood of many "AD" fans.... well, I stand by that feeling.

NO ONE... including me, has condemned those who have posted ratings info on this site.

I admit that information is VERY valuable... and I DEEPLY COMMEND those who thought to be responsible enough to inform us of the seriousness of the ratings situation.

However, IN MY OWN OPINION... the various, repetitive drum beat of postings saying "The ratings are down, the ratings are down" over and over again

... AND OTHER NEGATIVE POSTINGS about RUMORS....

....eventually had ANOTHER effect along with the positive info the ratings provided....

These repetitive negative ratings EVENTUALLY also had an eroding effect on the morale of many fans visiting this site.

If anyone has any doubt of this... check listings by LOYAL DEVOTED fans asking if "Everyone is feeling Bummed?"

(No offense PIP... because ya know I love ya! You're a wonderful, enthusiatic, GREAT fan. One of the best. Your posting was absolutely understandable.)

... or how about the other posting that has the heading something like "AD is DEAD (the sequel)!"

That's the END result of repetitive reports of sagging ratings.....

.... AND ALSO posted rumors that some minor cast member says the show is cancelled and he's moving on...

....AND ALSO rumors of other cast members "moonlighting" by acting in some TV pilots that may never see the light of day.

...AND other such negative postings.

I get the point the first time... ratings are down. But I also understand to hear each week... from several different posters that the ratings suck REPETITIVELY....
.... DOES have an effect on fan morale... if there's no additional info or morale boost to keep hope alive.

Again... I refer to posts that say "AD is DEAD (the sequel).
It wears down morale when postings of even negative news and ratings... end with the feeling, well... "things aren't looking good for AD's renewal".

Maybe it's all in the writing... but how about a bit more of the optimistic viewpoint that ALSO says... "DAMN the bad, ratings AND rumors about cast changes... the show AIN'T
DEAD YET!

So, I'm truly sorry if any rating's posters feelings were hurt. I acknowledge you did a good service. ALSO... I don't want this posting to escalate into controversy among fans about "who did what... who wrote what...
and who's a better fan... etc, etc, etc."

This site isn't about fans hurt feelings... but about us ALL working together to share an affection for this show... and MORE IMPORTANTLY at this point... EFFORTS, VALID EFFORTS to SAVE the show.

AND... a bit more optimism and ACTIVISM to save the show... instead of saying "The Sky is Falling... The Sky Is Falling!"... goes a long way to boosting morale and keeping hope alive.

Peace and THANKS to ALL.

Someone has written that "no one has ever posted negative comments about those who have posted anything about ratings".......or something like that.

I certainly have read negative things written about those who have posted ratings news here. I am sure "pavanbadal", "tvobscurities" and others have too. Maybe you haven't been around for the whole last year to see the comments about us.
I never take it personally, .........no one could ever NOT count me in as an AD fan here.

This is an AD fan site, we are all welcome and all of our comments are welcome too.
No one would be here if they weren't a fan of the show......that's obvious.
So when people tell others to "go away"....or other words to that tone......I just move on and read others' comments. No one would waste their time here if they weren't for the show.

NBC moved the show to Wed. nights supposedly to get a ratings boost. For us to post about those ratings goes hand in hand with NBC's plan for the show.

Peace.
