Bad News...those of you who are familiar with my previous posting already know the story. Those that aren't, please refer my 03/04 posting for reference purposes.

Well, to make a long story short..SAME SCENARIO! Last night at the premier for "The Beauty Shop", I ran into the same AD cast member who confirmed that next weeks show would definitely be the last.

Since he (This cast member shall STILL remain nameless) knows how much I love the show, he took time out from schmoozing to offer additional insight on the plight of American Dreams. In a nutshell, he said the writing is on the wall as NUMEROUS AD cast members, have already been cast in other programs for next season. He himself will be leaving the show to join the cast of "Over There" which will be aired on the F/X Network next fall.

To lend credence to his statement, we ALL know that strong rumors have been surfacing in regards to Brittney Snow, Will Estes, Vanessa Lengies, Gail O'Grady and the newest one Tom Verica, being signed to other programs still in the pre-production stages.

I dearly LOVE this show, but with all the first-hand information that's been provided to me, I can no longer keep my hopes up in regards to the continued production of American Dreams.

As the most turbulent years of the 60's are approaching in the AD timeline,
It makes one wonder what would have happened had the producers decided to begin the series in the mid-sixties as opposed to earlier in the decade?

Meatier story lines, could have possibly led to increased ratings, and I wouldn't be in the position in which I now stand, bidding a heartfelt farewell to my favorite show of all time, American Dreams.

no offense, but i am also an "industry professional," and there is no way any of those cast members has more information about the show's future than it's exec. producer jonathan prince, and he has been very vocal about the fact AD has yet to be cancelled. sure these cast members have to hedge their bets by taking other projects in the event AD is cancelled, but that in no way is a sure fire sign that AD is cancelled. also, NBC would be promoting next week's episode as a series finale, which they are not. maybe you misinterrputed this mystery cast members statements..

Train I'm going with what you are saying. Okay now about this topic made by this person this is going to hurt people's feelings so cut it out or keep it to yourself.We don't need you posting your stories and getting upset over it.Because all you are doing is hurting me and the rest of the fans here who want to enjoy posting not getting depressed while posting because you feel the need to post the stuff you post..Cut it out and quit making our great Ad site a depressed site!

Dreamin' Since Day 1:
I do not mean this in a nasty way, but I don't think you are telling the truth. If the show had been cancelled, they would be promoting the series finale, not the season finale. Other people with direct connections to the show and NBC still say there is hope for the show comming back for another season. They outnumber you.

I don't know if you are doing this for attention, but you clearly have your reasons. I don't agree with your message, but you are allowed to post here. However, I don't trust you, and refuse to go along with what you are saying.

I don't think Dreamin'day1 is telling lies on purpose. He/She is correct about this mystery cast member, (who after performing very little reserach turns out to be "EDITED") being cast in a FX show for next season.

But correct me if i'm wrong, he is not a major character and the AD could certainly go on without him. Again, i don't think this poster is purposefully telling lies, i just think they are putting too much value in the remarks of actors who really have little or nothing to do with knowing if the show is cancelled.

I agree with TRAIN. I don't think Dreamin' is purposely lying, I just think he's a little bit of a doom and gloom guy (or gal!) Again, the cast members are all hedging their bets, and who can blame them? They'd all be obligated to stay with "AD" if it gets picked up, and the pilots they're currently shooting would have to be recast.

I just recieved my Entertainment Weekly. It is not on newsstands yet, but for those of you who subscribe, it is the one with "Star Wars" on the cover, promoting the new movie.

Anyways, in the Television section, they have "TV's Endangered List" and "American Dreams" is mentioned. Here is the content of the article:

"Don't be alarmed by the 'pfft' noise coming from your TV- it's the sound of deflating network shows. Here's a look at eight series and their chances of being axed (one ax, there's hope; five axes, it's likely toast) by season's end."

Then it goes into the shows that are in danger of being cancelled. The first one is American Dreams.

American Dreams
(NBC, 7.5 million viewers, down 15%)
"'Dreams' was hammered by 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition'. Now it's battling Hurricane 'Lost'. Still, it's likely a keeper: 'NBC has so many holes in its schedule that keeping it around gives them one less problem to deal with,' says a network insider."
(American Dreams recieves two axes, which means it is very likely it will return)

This made me so happy! Things are starting to look better now, but don;t give in too soon. Keep the letters coming to NBC. Let's keep the hope alive and give the season finale a kick ass ratings night.

Just in case you were wondering, the other endangered shows are: Arrested Development (another personal favorite of mine), The Bernie Mac Show, Jack & Bobby, Joan of Arcadia, Judging Amy, Kevin Hill, and Less Than Perfect.

Look... Here's the deal as I see it.
I WORK in the TV entertainment industry... and formerly worked for NBC. While I cannot vouch for "Dreamin" conversation w/ this "cast member" pro or con about American dreams future.
... it seems, from my experience, unlikely that a cast member would know DEFINITIVELY if American Dreams is cancelled.... this far in advance.

Why? Because if AD's fate has already been decided... it's possible ( anything is possible )... but UNLIKELY, that NBC would have already made it's decision... told the cast members that the show is cancelled.... and keep it secret.

Why again? because NBC has ALREADY announced that certain shows have been cancelled, "First Watch" for example....
UPN has announced "Enterprise" was cancelled weeks ago.
Other networks have already announced the cancellation of other shows well in advance.

If "AD" was indeed as definitively "dead" as "Dreamin" insists... NBC would want to at least capitalize on the show ENDING for GOOD... and get as much mileage out of it's SERIES Finale as possible by promoting it as the LAST episode.

Case in point... The LAST episodes THIS season of NYPD Blue...... The LAST episode of "Enterprise"... and others.

I'm NOT saying "AD" won't be cancelled... it still could be, perhaps any day now.

BUT, AT THIS POINT... the show is as they say in the industry is "on the bubble".... awaiting definitive word from the network... and that hasn't happened yet.
Because if and when it does... NBC will IMMEDIATELY issue a press release stating such.
They have an obligation to entertainment journalists in both print and TV to keep them on top of what's happening on their schedule.
Shows like Entertainment Tonight, and Access Hollywood WANT to know ASAP news about shows cancellation.

It serves NO PURPOSE for NBC to have decided to cancel AD... and sit on the info for no reason.

It serves them BETTER to announce the show is cancelled to STOP the hopefully constant e-mails ... and CAPITALIZE on the SERIES finale.

Again, AD might yet be over. But as the saying goes... it aint over til the fat lady sings...
... and the fat lady at NBC hasnt uttered on single note... yet.

By the way... as of today 3/25, one of Boston's MAJOR newspapers, the Boston Herald wrote an article PUSHING for fans to rally for American Dreams RENEWAL... and posting within the article additional e-mail addresses at NBC to lobby for the show to return.

The TV critic who wrote this wouldn't be writing such an article if their sources as of 3/25/05... said American Dreams was indeed cancelled.

I've copied the Boston Herald article below for you all to read... and with the e-mail addresses the journalist suggested you send e-mails to.

So despite "Dream"s posting and so-called "inside" info... from an unidentified source, who COULD be a young actor with minimal acting experience to know the way the business works

Rescue me: Five shows in danger
``American Dreams,''

NBC's ``American Dreams'' deserves a reprieve and a fourth season because there is no other show like it on the air.

Sure, the stunt casting (Paris Hilton as Barbara Eden!) is delicious. And who doesn't love seeing Third Eye Blind as the Kinks or Usher as Marvin Gaye.

Practically every singer on the Top 40 and every ``American Idol'' winner has stopped by ``American Dreams'' to impersonate a musical counterpart from yesteryear.
Set against the backdrop of ``American Bandstand'' and the tumultuous '60s, the show is a throwback to another television era - a time when there were quality one-hour dramas that could entertain the entire family. This season, the Pryor family deftly tackled everything from teen romance to corrupt local politics to civil unrest.

The series may be loose with the decade's time line, blending the era's significant events conveniently into the family's lives, but TV needs a show that understands how important the results of a high school essay contest are to a daughter, and a son's struggle after returning home from the Vietnam War. This dream should live on.

I found out which actor "Dreamin" is talking about. I don't want to cause trouble so I won't say his name, but it can easily be found if you type in "Over There" in the keyword. The guy plays a character on AD who supposedly dies in the season finale. (not 100% sure, but I did read this somewhere.) Maybe this is why the actor is saying that the show is done, because he's probably finished filming for good.

Oh... I just figured it out. :(

I think he got his facts wrong.

This actor whose name you won't say was being written off of the show anyway, because he found a starring role in "Over There." So why would it matter to him whether or not the show comes back?

Everyone who is saying that Jonathan Prince would know better than the cast is correct- the show has NOT been canceled, and no one has been let out of their contracts, (except possibly Keith Robinson, Daphne Zuniga, and Milo Ventimiglia, as they were not regulars, and were only in the show for a limited amount of time anyway.)

Can I actually say the name of the person this guy talked to, or will people get mad and say that I have spolied you?

Please say who this is! It's driving me crazy. I put in "Over There" in Google and I've found nothing.
