Yes, they finally let the summer acquistions out of the bag. It feels good telling everyone. TV One has rights to Good Times through 2008. They have a 4 year deal, but it was not exclusive, so TV Land picked up a two year window from July 2005-July 2007. More info will be coming soon on their respective boards (Good Times and Night Court).
I have mixed feelings about this. GT has been running forever on one of my locals, and I'm not really a big fan, but I guess it'd be nice to have it on TVLand.
NC on the other hand...I think they should have gotten something just a bit older than that...
Pavan 03-25-2005, 11:17 AM In case anyone is wondering if the other four shows are "newer" than Night Court (it ended in 1992), they are not...
KJH278 03-25-2005, 01:05 PM Why can't TVLand get the rights to EMERGENCY!

They've already aired that, and it didn't do as well as Adam-12 or Dragnet when it aired.
EmoJoe 03-25-2005, 02:35 PM How many new shows are coming? Or are these the only ones?

Sorry. I saw that after I posted that :lol:
Dean Winchester 03-25-2005, 03:37 PM isn't NC more appropriate for N@N?
Good Times? it sucks that of all of Sony's catalog shows, TV Land acquires this, IT AIRS ON TV ONE EVERY SINGLE DAY!!! Let me guess, are Cosby and Full House also among TV Land's "special new acquisitions"?

Night Court doesn't fit the family based theme for Nick@Nite I think. It would have fit like 2 years ago when they aired Cosby Show, Cheers, Family Ties back-to-back. So, I think TV Land is a better move, because it would have bombed on Nick@Nite. TV Land will probably air it at 11:30pm or 12am.
No, Cosby Show and Full House will remain Nick@Nite. The 6 shows they have acquired, I'd say about 4 of them have not been seen on cable in years, and you know one of the six that has been seen is Good Times.

A lot of people (me included) don't get TV One, so it'll be nice for people who want to see it to be able to turn on TV Land and watch episodes. I assume at least for a while it'll be on in prime time, so I'll be tuning in even though I already have the four season set dvds to date.

YES!!! One Day At A Time is coming. ;)
maybe...
TVFactFan 03-25-2005, 05:20 PM YES!!! One Day At A Time is coming. ;)
maybe...
Hopefully, but if one of these shows are not one of the new acquisitions, then I'm not interested
One Day at a Time
Alice
Maude
Chico and The Man

Any of those would be great.
As would Mary Tyler Moore, Rhoda, Newhart, Silver Spoons and if there is any hope in the world.... The Facts of Life.

Facts of Life would be more suited for DISNEY. Yeah I think Rhoda would also be a nice show to add to the TV LAND lineup.

Those are the shows I'm hoping for. I'm finally getting to watch some Maude episodes on Comcast In-Demand and the show is as great as I remember it.
Alice and One Day at a Time are definitely standing out to me as two that might be coming...

If either one of those are Added I'm buying 20 Blank 9 hour Tapes-lol
Brian Damage 03-25-2005, 08:12 PM I like the addition of Night Court. GT I'm a bit indifferent to, because I own the dvd's.
C'mon Pav, you can't give us a better clue?
barwars 03-25-2005, 08:13 PM Alice and One Day at a Time are definitely standing out to me as two that might be coming...
I hope you're right.
Michael72581 03-25-2005, 11:16 PM I have a feeling that one of the new shows coming to TVLand is "One Day At A Time". How many agree with me? It has been off cable and syndication for years. :)
James"Thunder"Early 03-25-2005, 11:24 PM Alice and One Day at a Time are definitely standing out to me as two that might be coming...I think one or both are coming.
Michael72581 03-25-2005, 11:32 PM I also have a feeling that "Alice" might be coming to TVLand. It has been off cable and syndication like forever. So my bet is that it is either "One Day At A Time", "Alice", or both. :)
jrb_wi 03-26-2005, 12:02 AM GOOD CALL TV LAND!!
i LOVED watching Night Court and was PO'd when I signed up for cable but never got the Biography Channel. Then when I got it, Night Court was off that channel. Any show that featured defendants THAT crazy and surreal is all right by my book.
And Good Times... I think I've seen maybe TWO episodes. Ever. I've heard a lot about it and always wanted to see it, but TBS never had it on when I was up and the other channels that have shown it were never offered by my cable companies.
My thoughts on the third, "think 70s", sitcom TV Land is supposed to be getting? Probably One Day at a Time or Alice, but possibly the Partridge Family. Dark horse? Maybe What's Happening!! They're the only shows I can think of that were really popular that haven't seen any major cable syndication recently. As a matter of fact, I've NEVER seen What's Happening in ANY of my cable listings, and I've had cable for the past TEN YEARS.
If TV Land is supposed to be getting three more sitcoms in 2006, here's some of what I'd like to see them get:
* Soap (was in the "Kitschen" block recently)
* WKRP in Cincinnati (also in the "Kitschen" block)
* The Jeffersons (surprised that TV Land doesn't show this now)
* Barney Miller (was gone for YEARS before they showed it a few years back)
* Mork and Mindy (but I've heard some other channel might be getting it soon)
* Perfect Strangers (surprised Nick at Nite has never given it a regular run)
* Newhart (probably the only 80s sitcom I like now as much as then)
* NewsRadio (I know, probably a little recent but very similar tone to WKRP and Barney Miller and Night Court)
* Sledge Hammer! ("Trust me... I know what I'm doing!")
And I know these aren't sitcoms, but these have been gone unseen too long:
* The Fall Guy
* Mission: Impossible
* Starsky + Hutch
* Vega$
* Ironside
* Mannix
* Cannon
* Emergency!
Seriously, has ANY station had some of these shows on their schedules?

Soap and WKRP was treated like crap by TV Land. They only aired them on weekends. Why would you pick up a show like Soap which is a serial sitcom and not air all the episodes?

i agree - and Rhoda, Mary Tyler Moore, Newhart would be welcome as well...
Scoobiedoo30 03-26-2005, 02:00 AM I am so Glad that Both Good Times and Night Court will be airing on TV Land's Scheduled in both July of 2005 and August of 2005.
treky 03-26-2005, 02:22 AM I'd like to see them bring back "The Bob Newhart show" and start airing "Newhart" and "The New Dick Van Dyke show". Also, bring back "WKRP in Cinncinati" and "F Troop".
dawsongirl 03-26-2005, 02:27 AM They've already aired that, and it didn't do as well as Adam-12 or Dragnet when it aired.
Too bad someone doesn't air A-12 at least long enough for me to get the, like, 4 episodes I don't have. TV Land dumped it one rotation too soon for me. :(
NC...good! :thumbsup:
Now that I think more about this, I think that with the upcoming announcements of the new shows (I can almost guarantee that by May, we will know what all six of them are, since that is when TVLand sends out their Upfront reports [remember May 2003?]), TVLand is going to make a real turnaround in the right direction. I just hope they treat the shows right and keep them in good timeslots for at least a year. Carol Burnett and Flip Wilson...well they are treated like kuh-rap...

TV LAND should not even air Flip Wilson or Carol Burnett since both shows are cut from 60 to 30 minute versions. That's a lot of missing footage-lol
EmoJoe 03-26-2005, 01:23 PM Facts of Life would be more suited for DISNEY.
Yeah right. They'd edit it like crazy
spunkygirl 03-26-2005, 02:40 PM Facts of Life would be more suited for DISNEY. Yeah I think Rhoda would also be a nice show to add to the TV LAND lineup.
It's not a Disney type show, they treat BMW like crap, they banned 3 episodes, and IMO BMW was never right for Disney so FOL wouldn't be either, besides they wouldnt air it, they're more into more modern shows, and their target audience is pre-teens, FOL is more family show IMO.
spunkygirl 03-26-2005, 02:42 PM Yes, Night Court :rock: about time TVLAND aired it. I don't think it's too modern for TVLAND.
I hope they also air: One Day At A Time, Perfect Strangers and Silver Spoons(this one is probably a long shot)

FOL is not a show for the entire family to watch. I doubt if a father and son would be interested in watching FOL.

I think FOL is mainly for teens, both boys and girls. If you're a guy, I think you could find some kind of humor or interest in the show. It's not like every joke is about Tootie mistaking Blair's tampons for toilet paper rolls...

will you stop with your stereotypical generalizations? I watched FOL all the time when I was a little boy, and I know a lot of other guys who watched the show too.

I watched it as a kid, too. I'd watch it now, if I could.

Yeah I watch it. Or I did watch it
