hi everyone im in a bad mood so if you dont mind im going to do something i almost never do here and thats whine but i need you guys here to unload on .so please bear with me all of you here know how much i love snl. well im a member of this one site and its the most mean sprited place ive ever been to on the net the problem is as you all know by reading some of my posts here is that im not the best speller on earth and i really dont worry about puncuiton as much as i should. but over there they are always riding me about how stupid my posts look and how i sound like an 8 year old well i just let it go and go until last night when i posted something about snl that i and problay find interesting .well this one person who ive had a problem with cusses me out f this and f that well i had just had it with him and everyone there so i did something that i almost never do i posted a message with the most foul lauange that ive ever used in my life. words that if i used on somebody here i would be banned forever. but enough was enough well today i tried to tell my side of the story and instead its the same trash over again they all decided that the other guy was right and that in ther minds im some kind of stupid moron so thats it for me over there .i mean dont get me wrong i can take disagreements. heck ive even had a few disagreements with people here but they were friendly the attacks on me over there were personal so i decied i dont need the haslle and im not going back there again its a shame how a few people can ruin things for everybody. but what i want to find out is have you ever been insualted so hatefully on a site that you just thought heck with it im not going there anymore? well thanks for listineing and i dont need to be there anyway its much nicer here and i will stay a member as long as you want me and will have me bad spelling lack of grammer and all. thanks everyone

I have to say that although I dont pick on people who have bad grammar and spelling,I dont like it,it annoys me,especially if their post is hard to decipher.I make the effort to make sure my posts are readable and easy on the eye,but thats just how I am.I know what you mean though about mean spirited sites,I've been to a few boards like that,and you'll post there once,then you'll leave.SO is the only place where the people are friendly in my experience.:)

I admit that when I am over here at SO, my grammar or my punctuation is not up to par, but I think it is terribly impolite to point out to someone when they did not spell a word correctly, hey, we are all human and not perfect!
And it really irritates the hell of of me when someone has the audacity to point out another person's spelling or grammar errors when THEIR grammer, etc. is not properly indicated as well...But I agree with Alicia here, the members of SO are very generous with their welcoming someone to this board... :)

I've only commented on bad spelling or grammar only if its almost illegible.

I agree that SO is a great forum and I think we also have the moderators to thank for that. It must be a tough job trying to keep track of every post and then having to jump in and break something up without trying to offend anyone. Especially considering they're not paid for it and it can be a very thankless job sometimes!

Im very thick skinned...... One time on another VBB site thats gone now,the members ganged up on me... They were trying to get rid of me..... It happend 2 times,both times it lasted about a month and then they realised they werent gonna get rid of me....

Ya cant let people bother ya....

Some people are just highly intolerant of opposed points of view. My personal suspicion is that they believe that there can only be one CORRECT way of viewing "whatever", and therefore any opposed opinion challenges their rightness...if somebody else might be right, then they MIGHT be wrong, So they vilify any opposed views.

We call it the "cranky old man" syndrome at some other sites aka "GET OFF MY LAWN!!"


Looking back to when this thread was new, it predates the big anti-bullying spectacle that would come a few years later.

I remember when Major League Baseball had a cluster of forums....one forum for each team, plus one master forum for baseball in general.... And on one of those team boards, I believe it was the California Angels.....a clique, or "good ol boy network"....whatever you want to call it.....started picking on this guy, some encouraging him to go end his life.

Which he eventually did. And months later a relative using the dead kids computer to piece together his life discovered this ugly relationship with these folks.....and the kids survivors ended up suing the California Angels and Major League Baseball.
Don't know how that law suit ended up, but they promptly closed down the Angels board, and all the Major League baseball forums a couple years later.......I guess the combination of all those deep pockets with that wide open exposure was just too big a risk to bear?

There are many ways to view things and so many do not and attack and ridicule those with other views. I've said this here years ago. I see positive and negative in all. Now I'm hearing more and more about the climate change issue and nothing has changed, all fear from mostly one side...climate continues as it always has. Al Gore benefitted financially.

I've been a member on City Data since 2016 and it's been like a revolving door over there...giving me infractions, banning me, bringing me back in and it goes on and on. I do nothing wrong believe me. Offer information.....but those mods....and it all started when I joined, the head Witch gave me some warnings after less than a day as I recall.

Well a couple days ago I somehow got back in C=D, they put me back me.....and I've been there 2 days and tip toeing around and low and behold got an infraction today, for what --- guess didn't cross my t's or dot my i's......

The group offers so much and it's hard to be a member and NOT say anything....

Making 1,000 accounts isnt taking a stand though, its essentially ban evasion. Whatever you did to get removed the first time may have been harmless to you, but to that site and their rules, it was probably frowned upon. Like you constantly link to other forums here when trying to make a point, some sites don't like that as they assume you're advertising for that site. If CityData doesn't want you on their platform....stop making accounts.

Any site can ban you for any reason they see fit, and you missed my point entirely. If you bump old threads, or link to other forums (both of which can get you banned on that site if it's in the rules)....they're allowed to do it.

Also no, I don't have another account on that site...because I simply don't care. I don't lose sleep over getting kicked from a forum.

I hear ya buddy........ I guess it means alot to me.... I mean there isnt many good sites like here and CD ... They are worth trying to fight for!!
