The producers of the show could have so much fun with all that in the backdrop. By 1968, Patty should be a senior at East Catholic, Meg would be in college. I could see them both getting even more involved in the anti-war movement. Would JJ and Jack still be pro-war? I could see Jack voting for Nixon that year, even though Jack is a Democrat.

I love the 60's(part of the reason I love this show). Such a time of change and interesting parts in history.

Soooo true, many things went on in 1968. That should be a good season!

My predictions:

Meg will be a sophmore is colledge, and very involved in the anti-war movement. It wouldn't surprise me if she went to the Democratic Convention in Chicago that summer. I could see her becoming fairly radical. I think she would embrace the idea of doing whatever it takes to get the country of the Vietnam War.

Patty would be in 12th grade at East Catholic. She'll be accepted at Radcliffe. We don't really know her politcal views now. I think the Tet Offensive in January would cause her to come out against the war.

Will would be in 6th grade. I think he would really start to struggle with the issues of war. On one hand, he would be seeing dead bodies on the news. On the other, he still idiolizes his brother, and can't imagine JJ as a criminal or a murderer. Maybe during the summer he'd have his first crush. It would be an athletic girl that he's just friends with, but starts to see her as maybe something more than just a friend.

JJ would be coaching the football team at East Catholic. Based on the strong sense of right and wrong he has, I don't know if he'd vote for Nixon. Nixon and Humphry really wasn't much of a choice. I could see him voting either way.

Jack would definatly vote for Nixon.

Helen would vote for Humphry.

Roxanne will be a hair stylist on Bandstand, but also working as a music critic for an underground paper.

Luke will still be working at the Vinyal Crocidle.

Henry will still be working at the store, but worried about how he's going to pay for Angela's tutition.

Nathan will still be working at moving company he founded.

Sam will be radicalized by the assisination of Martin Luther King, and will consider joining the black panthers. I don't know if he'd be willing to go all the way. I could see him wanting to become a lawyer after the incident.

Angela will be in 11th or 12th grade. She'll have a scholarship to a historically black college.

I would LOVE to see American Dreams in 1968!!! That year was so eventful! The 60's themselves are so important and eventful, that's one of the many reasons why I love this show. :)

...and man goes to the moon in 1969.

I am pretty sure that I have spotted an all grown up Patty on another show. To me she grew up to be a lawyer by the name of Lori Colson (Monica Potter) on Boston Legal.

I don't know who you were asking specifically but the black panthers were a black political party founded in around 65-66 ( I might be off a bit) with the mission to end what they considered was at the time dominance by most white people. They were a pretty radical and controversal group.

Actually I seriously don't think Beth, if the show continues would be quite like Helen, I think they'd make her character speak up a bit more, maybe even go back to college and get involved in the womens lib. movement. She's pretty verbal when she wants to be. just my opinion.

I don't think Beth would be having any more babies for a while. If Beth was real, she'd be about 59 right now, a few years older than my parents. However, I'm in my mid 20s, Trip, if he were a real person would be close to 40 now! I think Beth and J.J. will take it easy for another few years and not have any more kids until the early 70s.
