Dear Fellow fans,

Looking at the similarities between the torso slayings in Cleveland, Ohio and the slaying of Elizabeth Short, I think that it must have been the same deranged man who committed both crimes. Perhaps the killer moved to the West coast to avoid detection in his activities in Ohio, then continued his gruesome crusade in California. Although the modus operandi varied a little bit in a couple of details, which is odd, I think that one madman was responsible. What do you think?

I recall an article from the June 2, 2003 issue of People magazine in which there was an article about a former Los Angeles named Steven Hodel. He became increasingly convinced that his father, Dr. George Hodel, had killed Elizabeth Short.

Steven Hodel believes that the murder was motivated, in part, by jealousy. His father was possessive and promiscuous. Short was said to have been involved with another man, but Steven believed that his father got sexual pleasure from killing.

One piece of evidence that links Dr. George Hodel to Short's murder was a handwritten note sent to a newspaper from the killer. According to an expert, the handwritting on the not in question matched Dr. Hodel's handwriting.

Another piece of evidence comes from a recorded conversation in which George is heard saying, "Supposing I did kill the Black Dahlia. They couldn't prove it now."

Steven Hodel believes that his father was involved with some crooked cops in an abortion business, and was therefore protected from being arrested and charged with Short's murder. He also believes that his father had killed other women in the Los Angeles area.

After reading that article, I began to believe that Dr. George Hodel was Elizabeth Short's killer. I too believe that he was a serial killer, and had murdered other women.

Dr. George Hodel is now deceased. He died in 1999, at the age of 91.
