View Full Version : It is so ODD that a GROWN MAN wanted to get a MAKEOVER-lol

On Oprah, This Grown Man was feeling bad and decided to get an extreme makeover because he doesn't like the way he looks-lol. If you are a grown man and feel that you want to change your physical appearance, you go out and buy new outfits, get a new Hairstyle, and Work out if necessary. To me it was so gay for that man to actually go to plastic surgery and get a breast reduction so he could feel better about himself. If I was a friend of his and find out he did that I would never speak to him again.

BTW: I'm not gay, I was only looking at Oprah because I took off work today and there was nothing else on at the time-LOL

well, aren't we a little uncomfortable w/ our masculinaty? lol (lol meaning this is a joke)

anyway, no, it's in no way "gay" as you put it. if anything it's brave. he had something he wanted to fix, and he did what he felt he needed to do to fix it. it's not the path for everyone, but it was for him, and I commend him for having the guts to step up and do it.

edit: however, i do think he took the easy way out. you appreciate something more when you have to work your ass off for it

What about hair transplants?
I never see a commercial for the Hair Club For Women.

That is a thought - you never see any commercials regarding that.

Well Allison, I think that's probably because they wouldn't make a whole lot of money..I don't think hair transplants, specifically for women, is a very big market.

I think it's a bit onesided that women are told to look beautiful and younger they should use liposuction, botox, collogen injections, implants, etc.

Men? Just put some hair back on their head.

I don't even know what you mean by the word tight in this context, I would love to know. Excuse me Janice, you are out of line on this one. I am not uptight, there is just a certain etiquette which must be followed. Yes, a lot of things do offend me. Because I believe in the semantics of words and word choice really can effect an entire thought in a grave way. He is rude and ignorant. If you are cognizant AT ALL you will be able to recognize that. People this unaccpeting of the differences that are a part of our world seclude them (or themselves) and just cause more disharmony and seperation within our world. It doesn't matter if he intended harm or not...it still induced harm either way. Hitler had no ill intentions either, he wanted to create a perfect society for those living in it, he had no ill intentions when killing thosands of jews and people who were not his elite few. The world doesn't work the way you think it is, my dear Janice. I think it's time you come to a crossroads in your personal life and realize that your personal biases do exist even though you are blind to them. By limiting your personal experiences and being somewhat of an ingenue in my eyes, you have no place to comment on my critique of this person's ill intended view that needs to be critically examined by himself.

Hitler...separation in our world? Have you flipped or what. Solomon started a silly thread. He's been doing it for years. Get over it. The day you can create as much fun on a thread as he can...well, I've yet to see it. You basically contribute nothing but insults and chronic complaining these days.

If you're hung up on semantics, that's your problem. You don't have to go from thread to thread acting like the etiquette police. If you want to be a moderator, talk to TJ.

And yes, I have a place to comment on your behavior as I'm the moderator. Limiting my personal experiences...ingenue...crossroads in my life -- you're talking ragtime kid, and I told you that my personal life is out of bounds. You don't know my life.

If you have a problem with a thread or a post, report it. Don't start in with the name calling.

You are so wrong, it's incredible, and I am NOT letting this one go. First of all, it isn't just a "silly thread" as you put it. I don't find anything 'silly' about it. This thread was created on the basis of name calling. I contribute the only form of intelligent thought on this board, that is what I contribute. It's too bad that people are too jaded by their own day to day lives to see that. And there is a difference between chronic complaining and showing people the error of their ways. I really don't think it's that far off that I find this thread comprable to the Holocaust, the connections are blately obvious (to me at least). Connections are one of the most important things in our world and what our educations systems are based on, and what the biological aspects of thought and memory are based on. And the only reason I am making comments about your personal life is because as a moderator, you are NOT being objective, which is what the job of a moderator is. You are using your own personal biases to form an opinion that has flaws. By the way, I am a moderator on the Designing Women board, thanks. Again, what you call "namecalling" is not name calling at all. It's realistic descriptions of what is occuring on this board, if you can not handel reality, that is unfortante. But I am not going to be stopped from presenting the view on issues in which there is more openess and wholistic peace within our lives in all aspects on living be it on this message board on in real life.

Any other threads like this would have been closed by now, at least from what i've seen in my short time here. But now that this thread is a "jump on Geogiasonmymind" post, everyone is fine, including the moderator, who i think middled in some personal attacks herself by calling him "uptight", which I think is in the same group of mild insults as "rude and ignorant"

Anyway, that's my two cents, I will go back to my hole now...

Your posts in this thread prove you know I'm the moderator. In the very post where you ask if I'm the moderator, you make references to me as the moderator. To claim that you don't know I'm the moderator of Chit Chat is ridiculous.

Comments that may have offended me? I'll tell you this much, you hold the record of calling me the worst thing I've ever been called online, and that would be Hitler.

The "(that's janice, right?)" was just a confirmation question, not meant to be taken the way you are taking it. To freak out that I am not proclaming you the moderator is ridiculous. I was simply making sure.

Why you are trying to scare me with the email thing, i'm not sure.

I have apologized, and will not be apologizing again. If you choose to hold a grudge over an online argument through a message board, one of which I have admitted I was out of line, that's years being taken off your life, not mine.

Uhh, she apologized. Way to hold a grudge.
And creepy that you would take the time to save the unedited post.

Tim, why do you feel the need to go after Janice? This has nothing to do with you, yet I've seen you on more than one occasion make sarcastic comments toward her. This isn't PIB where anything goes.(Thank God) You obviously have a problem with Janice and have had one for quite some time. Lay the **** off!

Janice

Will do.... although I still think saving something someone said online, which they went back and corrected is a little sad.
I don't give a **** what you think. You've had it in for me for ages, and you had better knock it off. I'm not here for your savage amusement, and you're not getting your nasty kicks at my expense.

Not that I owe YOU, of all people, an explanation, but I have a very good reason for saving that post. As moderator, I save many things that have or will become an issue. It's not sad, it's not creepy, and it's also NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS.

This is ridiclous... I thought the moderators took care of all this fighting and griping a few months back, sheesh. I think some people would argue over a fly here.

It is ridiculous. The problem is that when I moderate and reprimand someone, others step in when they shouldn't. I have a right to moderate without having to explain myself to anyone, except TJ, if he asks for an explanation.

It would never be allowed at other decent message boards. I'm working to have a rule implemented so when I issue a warning, it's between me and the other person and nobody else can involve themself.

The other problem is a few bitter members who hate me for the simple fact that I'm a Republican. Now that's pathetic.

Janice

Not sure if that elbow was pointed in my direction.... but I hope you're not refering to me with that last statement.
I have plenty of Republican friends, both on and offline.... in fact, Brent is one of my favorite members both here and at another board
I couldn't care less what drives your hatred of me. That's the truth, so don't explain. I do care how it manifests itself in your behavior towards me on these boards. Keep it under wraps. Nobody cares.

If this was any other board the would be banned right now for challenging a moderator. There was nothing about this thread to start a fight about so it's clear some members go looking for trouble.

That's true. I post at another site, and if anyone's looking for trouble or being a pest, their post is automatically deleted, and they get suspended. I think it's three suspensions and you're banned.

Hurl insults at the moderator, and you're out of there, no questions asked. The moderators are protected.

I don't understand how people can tolerate Solomon's ignorant remarks. It used to be others often agreed when he made threads like this, but now it's all fun and games I guess. Whatever. He's the one who comes off looking ignorant. I just don't understand how someone can go through life and not realize how WARPED your view of the world is.

I have to agree with you on this. Solomon has been starting threads marginalizing gay men for as long as I've been here (case in point, once he started a "why would any REAL man watch Will And Grace?" thread awhile back. And even more recently he made comments about Cedric The Entertainer "losing cool points" for dancing along with a gay guy on the TV Land Awards... sorry, Cedric GAINED cool points from that), and not just that, but all types of groups of people that he isn't in.

Back on the subject of a grown man getting a makeover, I arrested a dude the other night who had too much of a makeover if you know what I mean. He called himself "Evangeline" and he was cursing out the fine folks at Starbucks lol

Whats wrong with a man wanting to get a makeover? Why is it so acceptable for women, but not men? I think its great that men feel the same pressure as women to look good.

I agree completely, why do we laud women who refuse to grow old gracefully (the said Oprah episode also had a 40-something police officer who got plastic surgery just because she wanted to lose the wrinkles she's gotten from age on the job), but yet we can't believe it if a male wants to do that same thing?

If I offended anyone I apologize, GESSH!, I was just looking to have fun discussion that's all. It's not that serious

well, next time, think before you hit the send button, because sometimes your attempts at humor actually come across as divisive and insulting

please, no more personal wars.

I had beef with Janice awhile back, which I was wrong doing, but I'd like to think that we've put it behind us. She is a nice person.

I think Tim is cool too, and I owe him because he's the reason I get free DVD's.

I didn't like what Solomon said any more than the next guy, but I don't want to see another board war erupt out of it, because the last time the board broke out in war, it all went to hell and nobody came out winning

You shouldn't have to apologize. It's not your fault that some people around here don't have a sense of humor.

Yes, I agree. Things were really tense around here at the end of 2004, and we don't need anymore skirmishes popping up all over the place.

If you find something offensive on these boards, either ignore it, or report it to the moderators, but more importanly, move on. Keeping the subject going with bickering is pointless.

If you have a problem with the moderators or administration, remember, they're trying their best, and they're not getting paid for this.

I was into General Hospital only for a few months during the days Blackie (Stamos) was there and Scorpio was married to Holly after Luke kicked.

Can't get into soaps - unless it was Soap (the spoof)

i was addicted to Days of our LIves.. then I started watching Passion, i remember watching the very first episode and thinking "coool" but now it's gotten ridiculous. I never got into General Hospital.

I don't really watch soaps anymore, i'm way too busy during the day to really even think about it

Actually I was going to say that once, I tuned into Passions for about 10 minutes and couldn't believe it!!!! I really thought it has to be a spoof like Soap was. That, or the writers were dropping acid - what the hell?!! haha!

Yeah, I think they're all pretty crazy now - they have to be - afterall they've run the gammit of topics by now.

Besides - as we've seen - these threads can get way more dramatic!
