Does anyone here know of any really cheap phone companies?? I'm going to be getting a second phone line so that I can go online without my roomates asking me to get offline every five minutes. I'm not looking for any fancy features, just a basic phone line that doesn't exceed $20.00 a month. Does anyone here know of any phone companies that are in my price range?? Iv'e looked all over the internet, and haven't found anything under $29.00. I have lots of bills to pay each month, so every penny I can save is extremely important. Any information you may have would be very much appreciated! Thanks!!

Sorry I don't really know. I just changed my cell phone plan to Virgin mobil. It works out great because I'm not really on the phone all that much.

I don't think there are any companies that charge less than $30 a month at least; unless you use the two cans and a string!

I'm just curious but what's wrong with Cingular? They've been pretty good to my family. Verizon screwed my parents over.

well, lets see where do i begin....

Cingular was great to me and my fiance for a while. We kept with Cingular after we decided to get out own plan because all of our family was on in, and we wanted to take advantage of the cingular-cingular free mins. anyway, to make a long story short, they claim that I orderd a 150$ phone. They sent it to me, i called them asking them what they wanted me to do - i didn't order this phone, nor did i want. They said just send it back and they woudl credit my account. Well, this was back in November of last year, and we are still fighting them every month for that credit. Every month our bill reads 150$ over what we are suppose to pay. They tell us that the billing department and the return department are not on the same network and cannot communicate with each other. So the sons-a-bitches are still not giving us the credit and each time we call them they say "it's fixed" but then our next bill show differently.

anyway, as soon as our contract is up we are getting out of there, and we were leaning towards Verizon.

So how did verizon screw your parents over?

Oh god...that sounds like Columbia House. I fought with them for 2 months over a $22 charge.

I think he's looking for a land line, not a cell plan.

in that case, i know there are some cell phone companies that will combine your cell phone w/ your land line for a discount... might wanna look into that if you carry a cell phone, see if your carrier offers something like that

I think Qwest does that. I don't know if he has Qwest in his area though.

I think Bellsouth might do that too.. but i'm not sure if they do it w/ all cell phone companies, i know they do it w/ cingular... but don't get me started on them

Around here we don't get a choice who we want for a landline, its basically Sprint or nothing. So I got vonage, because Sprint's basic service was like $35 with all the taxes.

Thanks for the replies!! I actually don't have a cell phone, so I can pretty much eliminate that option. I think I'm just going to look for another week or so, and then go with the cheapest one I can find. If any of you come across anything real cheap, please let me know!!
