I've noticed in several recent episodes that Beaver had to wear a jacket and tie on certain occasions - the bus ride to Crystal Falls, Aunt Martha's visit, and David Manning's birthday party for example. Children today wear jeans and sneakers everywhere. If you were a kid during the fifties, do you remember dressing up for occasions that today's kids dress down for? Do you think kids should dress up more than they do today?

People did dress more formally back then. I was born in 1972 but I've seen pics of my older brother when he was a kid in the early 60's and he would always wear a jacket and tie to church, birthday parties, school pics etc. I think kids started dressing more casually in the mid 70's. I think it would be nice to see kids today dress up more for those types of occasions. I was looking through my nephews senior yearbook a couple years ago, the girls were all dressed nicely but most of the guys just had on hoodies or other casual clothes for their senior pictures. My mom would have never let my brothers get away with wearing stuff like that for formal not to mention expensive pictures.

I agree with Mijada. I was also born in 1972 and was raised to dress nicely for special occassions, including and especially for church. My grandma, a devoted Catholic, would get very upset if she saw people dressed like slobs for church.
