Ok, there should be a limit to how many times the same stories are discussed about on here unless there's an update. The same crap is repeated constantly and only newer information should be posted. Here are the stories that should be ousted not necessary in order.

1. THE WACKERS. GIVE THESE OLD FOLKS A BREAK. WHO KNOWS IF THEY ARE ALIVE ANYMORE. IF THEY ARENT PLEASE LET THEM REST IN PEACE. THEY HAD ENOUGH PAIN IN THEIR LIVES. LET'S NOT TALK ABOUT THEM BEHIND THEIR BACKS :)

2. IF I HAVE TO READ ABOUT GEORGIA RUDOLPH AGAIN I MAY COMMIT AN UNSOLVED MYSTERY. JOKE PEOPLE. WHO CARES ABOUT THIS WOMAN. ANYTHING SHE SAID COULD OF BEEN MADE UP, READ IN A PAPER ETC. I'M TIRED OF HEARING ABOUT THIS RE-ENCARNATION THING. IF THAT WAS ALL TRUE THEN ALL OF US COULD OF MADE UP SOME EXPERIENCE. PUT GEORGIA TO REST

3. ANY HAUNTED HOUSE STORY. I DONT CARE IF SOME OLD MAN HAUNTS A ROOM BY PASSING GAS THROUGHOUT THE HALLWAY. WHY DO YOU THINK ITS CALLED A "GHOST STORY" FOLKS ITS A STORY LETS NOT READ INTO IT

4. ANYTHING TO DO WITH UFO'S, SPECIAL OBJECTS, FLYING BOOMERANGS, LOUD SOUNDS FROM THE DESERT OR WEIRD FREQUENCY NOISES PEOPLE TEND TO HEAR. I DONT NEED TO READ ABOUT CROP OR CRAP CIRCLES IN YOUR BACKYARD OR STRANGE THINGS YOUR DOG BRINGS HOME. LET'S MOVE ON PEEPS ITS OK TO CHANGE

5. LET'S STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT LIFETIME SHOWING THE NEWER EPISODES. I RATHER BE SEEING AN UPDATE ON JESSE JAMES HOLLYWOOD OR BROOK BAKER THAN THE CONSTANT STORY OF KURT SOVA, PATRICIA MEEHAN, THE WACKERS, THE CIRCLEVILLE LETTERS ETC. NEW ISNT BAD AT LEAST ITS A CHANGE

6. THE LOCHNESS MONSTER, CHUMP FROM LAKE CHAMPLAIN, THE OTHER CREATURE IN THE CANADIAN LAKE ARE HOAXES. LET'S BE HONEST WITH OURSELVES. IF THEY DID EXIST AND SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE SEEN THESE CREATURES UPCLOSE, WHY HASNT ANYONE CAPTURED IT. THEY SAY ALLIGATORS LIVE IN THE CITY SEWERS BUT THERE HASNT BEEN A SIGHTING OF ONE YET. UNTIL THERE'S THIS CREATURE ON MY DESK AT WORK LET'S JUST PRETEND HE'S NOT OUT THERE FOR THE SAKE OF SANITY

7. WE DON'T NEED TO REHASH THE STORIES THAT TELL US WHAT MOUNTAINS, CAVES, DESERTS HAVE HUGE AMOUNTS OF GOLD. IF THIS WAS THE CASE DON'T YOU THINK THE GOVERNMENT WOULD HAVE PUT SOME KIND OF CLAIM OUT THERE? I DONT THINK THE GOV'T IS GOING TO LET A BILLION DOLLAR FORTUNATE GO BY WITHOUT NOTICE. LET'S PASS UP ON THOSE STORIES AS WELL.

1. THE WACKERS. GIVE THESE OLD FOLKS A BREAK. WHO KNOWS IF THEY ARE ALIVE ANYMORE. IF THEY ARENT PLEASE LET THEM REST IN PEACE. THEY HAD ENOUGH PAIN IN THEIR LIVES. LET'S NOT TALK ABOUT THEM BEHIND THEIR BACKS

"Yes but when they signed the consent form to appear on the show in return for help in resolving their UM they gave away the right to privacy - Sad but true. I believe The Wackers are probably dead but the children might still want answers as to what has happened - We recently heard from Lisa Marie Kimmell's mother on this board and she notified Lifetime to update Lisa's story or take it off the air and they did update it. I find "The Wackers" case to be very interesting (although not as interesting as others) and don't mind watching it but that is subjective - What is not subjective is unless the family members inform the network that they don't want a segment to be shown any more - it's fair game for broadcast (and re-broadcast)"

"Agreed - There are tons of books on Re-encarnation - if you believe in it fine - if you don't that is also cool - But pick up the books and persue your interest at your leisure - Save the time on UM for broadcasting segments which can resolve crisis and bring criminals to justice."

3. ANY HAUNTED HOUSE STORY. I DONT CARE IF SOME OLD MAN HAUNTS A ROOM BY PASSING GAS THROUGHOUT THE HALLWAY. WHY DO YOU THINK ITS CALLED A "GHOST STORY" FOLKS ITS A STORY LETS NOT READ INTO IT

"These stories find a special type of audiance - I don't dig em really because probably I don't believe in ghosts per say. But they do have an audiance enough for a DVD to be devoted to the segments so they probably belong on the broadcasts."

"Again they find an audiance - In fact the UFO's have a VERY BIG audiance also as big as us true crime buffs. Google it when you have a chance a billion sites on "Roswell" alone and the cover-up - These segments do bore me though because I've seen them all and as UM went into the later years the segments became stupider and stupider - From the believeable (Betty Cash and that couple who was driving in the mountains and experienced lost time) to the weird (Guardian) and the stupid (healing UFO, Ghost lights, the hum, men in black, seattle blobs)"

"These aren't constant my friend in fact a lot of them are not even part of the "re-constructed" episodes that lifetime did. The update for Brook Baker can be found on the DVD and JJH was just captured this week (give lifetime a chance even Martha Moxley update took a few months - they will prolly wait unless JJH is proven guilty or innocent before updating) and yes those are two of my favorite cases but back in the 80s and early 90s UM had a bigger budget and therefore produced better shows (Son Of Sam, Richard Mintz, Kurt Sova, Jeremy Bright, The Train Deaths, Tommy Burkett and others) when the budget ran out especially during the 2001-2002 series (and if anyone thinks Lifetime paid UM as well as NBC and CBS they are crackers) the segments took a dive."

"The only one that ever intruged me is "The Iceman" and Frank Hansen - Possibly because this one might be solveable by looking into Hansen's past - the other ones you mentioned I'll agree with you are pretty lame"

"The government has in a lot of cases - In fact if you listen closely on a lot of these treasure segments - Robert Stack says that you need permits to dig here, you cannot dig here, the government owns this land, any gold found will belong to the government. In this way the government is being very smart in my opinion why let our military sweat it out in the arizona sun while some "average joes" are digging in the sand or rock for their treasure when the gvt knows they will have to give the goods to them anyway unless they want to spend the rest of their life in prison"

Budget or not, the old stories get boring. There's no updates on them. Excluding lisa kimmel which was amazing and I'll give credit to the moxley case as well. Most of the old cases you can't find on the internet. Maybe the statue of limitations have ran out on them.

I work in tv and you can have a low budget and produce decent show segments. You dont need millions of dollars and high prices actors to get a shows point across. UM is not a news broadcast just as it states. A news broadcast costs more than a segment of UM. Robert Stack was well paid and also the higest paid person in the show with an exception of murer and cosgrove. You may not realize this but Stack didn't work hours upon hours doing those segments. They do several shows in one day. They are produced well in advance in case of an update"s". The updates are a voice over. Stack could do those from his home. The voice overs you are hearing now is dubbed from worker-coorespondent for UM. Any further updates may be in text or have the same thing.

I just don't feel unless we have new important information on those cases from 15-20 years ago they arent as important than the newer cases. If us the viewer can't research them online then obviously the media or law enforcements may have closed the case.

Example with the Judith Hines case. There was an update stating some person have information she was dead. Well we dont know who that person was. I'm sure it was legit but all we will see is that same ol update without anymore information. that person probably requested not to be filmed. In that case, if a person doesnt want to be on camera there's not much more UM could say.

There also could be some cases that have been updated that either UM doesnt update or those family members don't want the update to be made public. Either it was a tragic death, or something else. Its possible that certain family members have died and the case was solved but since the family is no longer around we dont know what the outcome is.

Unfortunately as of now, UM is no longer in production. We may find out results on some of the newer cases via the news, internet, or newspaper of some source. UM is no longer required to update any of the cases since they arent in production. They are not under any contractual obligation once the show turns to syndication.

Lifetime has bought all the rights to UM. Since the show is no longer in production Lifetime is also not obligated to have UM update the show. They show UM in a dead slot for tv. They use the show as filler after the morning comedy shows and before the lifetime afternoon movie.

If the show was still in production then we would see the show in primetime. Right now they don't careless if anyone watches. All of their important programming is at night. I can guarentee this, if production for UM began again then Lifetime would change the time of programming. Right now on the east coast we get it from 12-2. They may change it up again and put it on from midnight to 2am. Again filler.

"Yes but there are only a handful of the newer cases (usually one per "Lifetime" sanitized broadcast and yes it is important to get those fugitives but there are also cases that should always be repeated such as "The Maples" and "Nyleen Kaye Marshall" stuff like that - There is always a chance even if it is a slim one that these children could be watching television and see themselves pop up on UM and learn the truth about what really happened to them/their families all those years ago) - Good point about law enforcement closing the cases but you have to remember just because you cannot find information on the internet doesn't mean it's not out there. Take for example the "Richard Mintz" case - you will find very little about it on the net but there is a wonderful book on the entire case called "Sleeping With The Devil" which goes more in depth then the UM site ever could have."

Exactly as I stated before the only way these cases are going to be updated is if the family members request it or it makes front page news (I'm sure that JJH will eventually be updated) - I doubt production will begin again for UM (and I think that as cool as the show is it is probably best left in the past unless it can somehow return to network tv - A budget still does matter in my opinion - compare the older shows with the newer ones - the older ones were so much better) - In fact Lifetime around two years ago made a statement regarding why they pulled UM out of their primetime slot something to the effect:

"For ten years UM has been our flagship show but now no longer pulls ratings high enough to warrant that timeslot" - It is interesting to note that the show they initally had replacing UM in that slot (Providence) lasted in that slot all of three months and then was regulated to the early morning hours before being dropped from the network entirely. In the following months they began producing their own show called "Missing" which in a lot of ways although a fictional show goes after the same demographic that watches UM. Lifetime is smart - They keep renewing the UM contract, if Cosgrove and co. ever decide to produce new episodes (which in my opinion is unlikely) Lifetime will take them back very quickly but the production value again would likely not be the same as it was when it was on NBC.

Lifetime has alot of money. Granted they dont have nearly as much as nbc or the major networks. They still could make decent UM segments if it went into productions again. You must remember that the budget is still the same for either network. Stack was still getting paid by NBC until his contract was renewed. The newer stories may have looked different not due to budgeting but due to changing of camera lenses, editors, production people. I think the new shows look fine. Its all about perspective.

JJH may not get updated by UM. Persistence from law enforcement or family member will be the only way to go. Again the update will be dubbed but as long as it gets the point across.

Why not bring back the show? If there are still many mysteries and new ones coming out why not. so many children are missing. People are strangely murdered, bring back a new host, someone who will do it at resonable cost and go back to production. I think it would be great for us avid watchers and those families who stuggle everyday with missing or deceased loved ones.

As for the show missing. Its an abomination. Gloria Rueben is off the show. She was horrible and made the show worse. I hope its canceled soon and i wouldnt be surprised if it will be

Not really. I find it sort of insulting. I'm sure an administrator could say this much better than I, but this is a public message board, so people can talk about whatever the heck they please as long as it's about UM. Free speech and all that stuff.

Yeah, it's kind of a drag when yet another person asks for an update on the Wackers, but who really cares? Don't reply, or don't click on the thread if you don't like it.

Even if you did it in jest, setting up "rules" for the message board is just condescending.

Excuse me Ladies, like you said freedom of speech. I made some point in which i find fact and I know is fact since I do work in the industry. You can dispute my facts all you want but i know whats right.

I can also have an opinion on what stories should or shouldnt be talked about anymore..

Those are my opinions not necessary others.

So if u are insulted too bad. I think howard stern is more insulting than me darlings.

of the newer shows vs the older episodes it's all subjective opinion although you will find most around here prefer the older shows from the 1980s and early 90s for the reasons listed above but since it's all subjective it is hard to say which is better. That is not to say however they were not some really good stories produced during the later era - take the mysteries aired today - the segment on Darlie Lynn Routier I believe is fairly new and is a good piece of production but there are also a lot of mysteries that make us shake our heads and wonder if Cosgrove and company had their heads down the drain when producing them and this applies to ALL SEASONS.

However it seems that in the later years the program seemed to go for more "shock value" (no pun intended) then it did decent storytelling - when you move into the aqua (or as some call the underwater era) you start getting a lot of stories on "men in black", "mysterious blobs", "craters on mars", "comets" and "humming noises". The one thing that I cannot stand about the re-editted lifetime segments that I have not mentioned up to now is that they really are put together that way to shill. Although this may be over-stating the obvious as TV is all about ratings isn't it but the Lifetime editted broadcasts usually has one murder, one lost loves, one unexplained, one wanted and so on and so forth. I mean as you have stated they already have the show in a horrid slot - why not give the die-hards who still tune in what they want to see (and for the most part that is the older episodes) but then again I'm sure Lifetime spent some decent coin on re-editting the show and throwing them back into storage would probably just be a waste of that money.

Later.
