View Full Version : Who was Judith Cohen?
seventies_sitcoms 03-19-2005, 09:17 PM Who in the heck was Judith Cohen and how did she end up on Good Times? Was she an actress or singer? There doesn't seem to be a lot of information on her. She has had very few screen appearances. Was she somebody who was hoping they would get their big break in the 70s?

Good question. The fact that she is Jewish makes it even stranger that she would have been in Good Times.

Yall act like Judith was the only white person to guest star on Good Times-lol So only Black actors /actress should have guest starred on Good Times?

Of course not. But it is odd that this Jewish young woman shows up in this show, when a black woman could have been on. It's not that big of a deal anyway.
seventies_sitcoms 03-28-2005, 02:24 AM It doesn't matter to me whether Judy was white or Jewish. I just wondered who she was. I actually thought at first she was one of the dancers in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, but it seems like I was mistaken. LOL.
PracTz 04-02-2005, 08:36 PM Jimmy Walker had been a standup comedian before 'GT' and has been one since it went off the air. We know he was friends with Jay Leno and that may have helped get him doing that cameo at the VD clinic when he was unknown so maybe Judith Cohen might have been another comic friend of Jimmy Walker's he'd hoped the show would give recognition to. Just a guess.
knl9674 04-06-2005, 03:13 PM i personally think that episode was garbage. her singing segment at the club lasted at least 8 minutes. i don't believe i laughed once.
failed attempt to make this chick a star.

Well you must have watched this episode in 1976 on CBS because I remember Judy's singing segment being 3 minutes. Defintely not 8 min.

No she sings longer than that- 8 minutes sounds kind of accurate to me because she sings two songs Be A Clown and Send in the Clowns. The latter tune was a current Broadway tune at the time that got airplay on the radio.

Ok I had to go to my video vault to confirm this and the exact time of Judy's singing segment was 2:55, i was close-lol I said 3 minutes. I knew it wasn't no 8 minutes.

Is that from an unedited version because her songs did seem awfully long to me. One thing that may make it seem to drag on and on is that there is no humor at all in it and I can concur with the person who said that it is boring. Some of the other segments that had singing were far more entertaining IMO (like when Ralph Carter sang) although I saw an episode where Willona sings (it's the episode with Gary Coleman) and it was so boring I fast forwarded through most of her tune.

Yes it's the Unedited version. I have the same version on VHS that's on the season 4 DVD. Like you said maybe it seemed like it was 8 minutes because it was boring. It actually wasn't boring to me, i enjoyed it.
