Ones off the top of my head ... WKRP, Welcome Back Kotter, Coach, Wings, Family Ties, and now Murphy Brown is going in that pattern it seems. Facts of Life did very well at the start and the launch marathon but by like April or May 2001 before it was gone by the end of June 2001, it sinked fast. They even removed it when they had like a year left on the contract still.

And don't tell me Nick@Nite didn't try these shows. They tried. They gave them all good slots, but they just bombed. All but WKRP had slots before 12am when they first started.

Charles In Charge, Perfect Strangers and Head Of The Class must be even worst because they never got good timeslots.

I'm surprised WBK did badly on N@N like Wings and Coach.

Actually they did OK. Charles in Charge had huge ratings for 4am, that is why it got its own marathon.

I'm surprised most of the shows you metioned got low ratings. Nick at Nite must not have been the market for them.

Wings?! Really. That shocks me. I remember how fast WKRP seemed to disappear though.

Do the people at Nick at Nite not know how to pick series to contract? That seems like a lot of failures to me.

I knew right from the bat that shows like Wings and Coach would bomb. They were not the shows that Nick@Nite goes for usually. I knew Murphy wouldn't do well either. The next bomb might be Mad About You, I think. Home Improvement should do well when it comes in 2007.

I was surprised when Kotter failed when it came to N@N in the mid 90s. Also, how FOL faded towards the end. Other than that, I'm not surprised from that list.

Home Improvement sounds seems to be a N@N type of show

everyone says Wings flopped... at least it lasted two years. It was never an anchor show, but it didn't ever bomb so bad N@N killed it fast

How long was Coach on the channel?

However, I think nothing in the past 5 years outbombed Head Of The Class, Perfect Strangers and Charles In Charge on the network... those shows were instantly relegated to 4 AM. By comparison, Wings looked like The Cosby Show

I think a prob with FOL towards the end was the death slot N@N gave it.

I worked evenings back then, so I didn't get my FOL fix until the 1-2 am repeats of the show, by the end, they scrapped late night showings and only showed it during PRIME TIME. I dunno about anybody else, but I watch prime time shows in prime time, not N@N (well, it doesn't help that I don't like Full House anyways).

Nick seemed to screw over Diff'rent Strokes too. I remember when it premiered on Nick in March of 01, it was not only N@N's #1 series, but episodes of the show even ranked in the top 15 cable programs of the week, yet by the time the schedule came back after the summer marathons, Nick wanted nothing to do with the show, and it was the first show axed to make room for Family Ties and Cheers

Trust me, Wings was airing at 11 and 11:30PM to start and it wasn't even a blip on the Nielsen Ratings. I think it lasted there like 2 weeks at most. Then they brought in Three's Company to that slot and moved Wings to 1am or so. Same thing happened to Coach. Both did last a while in the wee mornings, where there was no pressure.

I don't know why HOTC, PS and Charles in Charge were never aired before 1am, but they did pretty well in the wee hours, so I guess Nick@Nite thought they work better then. HOTC and PS were library deals, so they didn't air every episode. Charles in Charge was only seasons 2-4. CiC did really well at 4am, that is why a marathon was given. CiC outscored Wings in the wee hours even.

It's a shame more people didn't take to Wings being on N@N. Right when it started, the messageboard started getting new members. It was a great week before N@N changed it's timeslot. Although I think "Wings" is a great show (the third greatest just behind NewsRadio and Taxi), it didn't fit well on N@N's schedule. And even though it's way too soon for TV Land, I feel it's a better atmosphere for the show. I'm surprised TV Land actually stuck with it with the mini-marathons.

Most of the fans followed the show all the way to 3 in the morning. I guess "Wings" is a cult classic, whereas N@N airs the same rerun to death mainstream hits. N@N used to be so cool. Nick at Nite was like a cool person, who may not have much money. But they're funny and happy and great to be around. Now the person got rich and became a snob who I want to stay away from. And yet, I still want the "person" to lose the money and be my friend again.

Apparently. A lot of people must not see the humor in it or something.

That's the way I see it ;)

I think Mad About You will bomb, I think MAY you is better in the afternoon's like the Lifetime Real Women Channel airs it at 4 and 4:30 pm. It's a good fit then.

It does help to advertise shows too, when you exclude Wings, and Who's the Boss from promos of course the ratings aren't going to be that good. I notice WTB? was excluded from N@N's lastest promo, doesn't surprise me
