I haven't been to a Perkins in a looooooonnnnng time. Maybe just for Al Lewis, I might go to one this weekend.
The commercial has to be old. I don't think he could have made it recently, with him losing his leg and all :(

June of 2003, Al Lewis went to a hospital (I forgot which), to have his 3rd heart operation. During the procedure their was excess bleeding, and the doctor said, the only way to stop it, was to cut of Mr. Lewis' right leg from the knee down, and the five toes on his left foot. Mr. Lewis went into a coma, till September of 2003. He couldn't believe what had happened.
So far, I believe he has, or is going to get, a new prostetic leg. I know it's been 2 years since the tragedy, so I'm sure he has recovered, and is most likely living quietly in New York, with his wife, living out his days.

Hi Everyone!
I have been reading your posts for quite a while and keep thinking I'll post next time I'm on..... anyway eventually!
Al Lewis wasn't born in 1910, he was born in 1923, so that makes him 81... 82 next April! I have his biography on tape and it clearly shows documentation from years ago with these sort of details on. His family also say that he makes up a lot of stories, like he doesn't really have a degree. I believe the age one was to help him careerwise, he told people he was older to get the parts because peoples ages went against them for acting. It's hard to believe that in the Munsters he was younger than his acting daughter Yvonne de Carlo! Hee...Hee....
I read somewhere that he said he was born in 1913! He has alot of birthdates! It is 1923!
Just thought I would clear that one up! Hee..Hee...
Great message board!
