Lil' Kim to be Jailed For Being Lyin' Kim
United Press International
Rapper Lil' Kim, whose expletive-laced songs celebrate her sexual and financial power, has been convicted of a felony and now awaits sentencing.
The self-anointed matriarch of hip-hop, whose real name is Kimberly Jones, was found guilty by New York jurors Thursday of perjury and conspiracy committed as officials tried to sort out a 2001 shooting between her entourage and that of a rival rap crew at a hip-hop radio station, the New York Post said Friday.
Jones, whose public persona was defined by the reams of vulgarity she delivered while dressed in sexually provocative clothing, lied to investigators about who was present at the shooting, ostensibly to protect them. Several of those people, however, later turned into state's evidence.
She faces 20 years in prison on the charges but is expected to do less time.
Leaving the courthouse, the diminutive millionaire adopted a quite, stoic demeanor. Sentencing is set for June 24.
