Lil' Kim to be Jailed For Being Lyin' Kim

United Press International

Rapper Lil' Kim, whose expletive-laced songs celebrate her sexual and financial power, has been convicted of a felony and now awaits sentencing.

The self-anointed matriarch of hip-hop, whose real name is Kimberly Jones, was found guilty by New York jurors Thursday of perjury and conspiracy committed as officials tried to sort out a 2001 shooting between her entourage and that of a rival rap crew at a hip-hop radio station, the New York Post said Friday.

Jones, whose public persona was defined by the reams of vulgarity she delivered while dressed in sexually provocative clothing, lied to investigators about who was present at the shooting, ostensibly to protect them. Several of those people, however, later turned into state's evidence.

She faces 20 years in prison on the charges but is expected to do less time.

Leaving the courthouse, the diminutive millionaire adopted a quite, stoic demeanor. Sentencing is set for June 24.

And I believe she would do it too!

I'm confused to how she's being tried and the shooters have been caught and brought to justice??

Kim basically lied to the grand jury investigators when they questioned her about the gunfight in 2001.

Lil Kim doesn't belong in jail for perjury when there are a lot of killers out there who are walking free. I think probation should be her punishment, going to jail for years, while people like OJ Simpson and Robert Blake are free, isn't really fair. Her crime is nowhere as bad as theirs.

O.J. Simpson should have been given life imprisonment, but the defense turned it into a trial about race. As for RObert Blake, there's no hard evidence he killed his wife. Kimberly Jones was clearly guilty, and she deserves time. Yeah, now someone's going to say the judicial system is picking on the hip-hop "community."

If people want to pull out the "race card" and say poor Kim is being crucified by the Police, then they are off base.
People that work for her were shooting up a New York City street. She lied about it to the Police, pure and simple.
I'm not saying lock her up for 20 to life, but these wannabe thugs with guns and recording contracts have got to start taking responsibilty for their itchy trigger fingers.

Lil Kim is an african-american hip-hopper so the court may be racially prejudiced toward her in
this case-just my opinion.

the most famous free killer alive is African-American, so I don't think you can cry racism since everyone knows OJ was guilty

I doubt they will be prejudice toward her.

Lil' Kim won't do hard time. Being a celebrity outweighs race.

It was a grand jury Lil Kim lied to, not the police.

Fine, whatever, she was still trying to lie her way out of it.

Of course, they said the same thing about Chuck Berry's conviction for illegelly bringing a prostitute against the border - he went to prison for an offense no white man would get jail time for, and they were right. But Berry's original trial was also declared invalid because it was racist. And by the way, Berry's offense didn't involve a gunfight.

P.S. Can we please stop substituting "African-American" for "black?" A hyphenated, seven-syllable, fifteen-letter word in place of a monosyllabic, five-letter word is waste of time. You don't see white people called "European-Americans," do ya? :p
