From Kiss-FM Jams website:
Janet Jackson Gets Restraining Order
It’s raining restraining orders around Janet Jackson.
On Thursday, the singer obtained the order she sought against 46-year-old Robert Gardner, whom Jackson says has been harassing her non-stop for nine years.
Meanwhile, Angela Whitterson, a woman in Cincinnati who filed a request for civil protection against Janet claiming the singer bugged her home and car, had her order denied by a judge on Tuesday.
As for Gardner, he was ordered by a Superior Court judge to stay at least 100 years away from Ms. Jackson, and not to contact her family, agents, attorneys or managers. The restraining order will remain in effect for three years.
Jackson, who wasn't in court, put in a request for the order on March 1, months after Gardner tried to bring a box cutter and knife to the New York studio where she was rehearsing a performance for Saturday Night Live.
Jackson said in documents that Gardner "has been following me, sending me faxes and letters and attempting to arrange in-person meetings for nine years."
Gardner appeared in court without an attorney and told the judge he had business matters to discuss with Jackson as well as personal matters he preferred to keep private. Outside court, Gardner said he will hire a lawyer to contest the ruling.
"I do not want to be considered a stalker," he said.
