View Full Version : All That 10th Anniversary special to air April 23rd
Despite the fact that it has been 11 years since the first episode of All That aired, Nickelodeon will air a 10th Anniversery special on April 23rd.
I am a little excited about this special, finally they will show some clips from the old All That.
I hope Nickelodeon does what NBC did to promote SNL: The First 5 seasons special, by airing SNL from the first 5 seasons in the saturday overnight Classic SNL timeslot, and air some old All That leading up to the 10th Anniversery special.
*Pleasant Tomorrow* 03-19-2005, 06:26 PM OMG THAT IS AWESOME!
vashti1999 04-14-2005, 09:42 PM According to TV Guide, Frankie Muniz hosts, Ashanti and Bow Wow perform, and someone named Lil JJ joins the cast and takes over "Vital Information."
L&OFan4Eva 04-16-2005, 04:21 PM If this is supposed to be some kind of campaign to apologize for crapping the show up, it's definitely working!
David 04-20-2005, 08:52 PM AWESSSSSSSOME. It's gonna be a reunion, I just saw the commercial. This is great!! :D :D :D
Caffeine King 04-20-2005, 09:23 PM Aren't only Amanda Bynes, Kenan & Kel, and Josh Server showing up? Some f***ing reunion!
How sad! It's like they're trying to dumb it down and make it even less watchable (including the abscene of Lori Beth Denburg) by adding kiddy airhead favorites like the forever 11 year old Frankie Muniz and crappy label cash cows Ashanti & Lil Bow Wow.
What's more pathetic is that they're redoing ANOTHER sketch again.
Lil' JJ was the winner from the first season of Coming To The Stage (on BET)
L&OFan4Eva 04-23-2005, 10:15 PM If this is supposed to be some kind of campaign to apologize for crapping the show up, it's definitely working!
How wrong was I! I mean, it was nice seeing Danny and Josh back (Kenan and Kel I could care less about), but this was a ripoff and a big promotional pump for the new season which is probably gonna be a big piece of crap nontheless. And plus, there is NO way they can do a reunion without Lori Beth Denberg. She IMO IS All That. More than Kenan, more than Kel, hell more than Amanda (where was she too?)! Where would we be without her Vital Information (why bring it back when there are only TWO people who should do it: Lori Beth and Danny)? All in all, a big flying piece of stinky kaka.
I am so mad!!!! I say boycott!
Caffeine King 04-23-2005, 10:46 PM :o I wasted an hour of my life.
Kenan & Kel were hilarious as ever (of course) and carried the tired, mediocre sketches that they were in with their refreshing, original (sorely missed) characters!
Josh who I liked him when he was on the show did nothing for me for this neither did Danny who I hated for replacing the awesome Lori Beth with Vital Information.
This was no reunion. It was just another new episode in disguise!
And did you see that...they're f***ing redoing the theme song with those girls singing!
Nice way to pay respect to TLC!
I hope & pray that they release All That out onto DVD and it gets the respect it deserves!

I'm like PO'd right now after watching that! IA, Caffeine! I should like do a petition to Nick to do a REAL reunion! With EVERYONE!
vashti1999 04-23-2005, 11:02 PM I thought it was a good special. Yes, in terms of being a "reunion" it may have been disappointing, but it was good seeing Kenan and Kel do those old characters again. It just showed how funny the show used to be. Josh didn't seem to be featured heavily. Tamberelli, we'll see him at his best when Pete and Pete comes out on dvd next month.
The upcoming All That stuff looks lame.
I saw past cast members Katrina Johnson, Alisa Reyes, Angelique Bates,
Giovonnie Samuels, and Mark Saul. But where was Lori Beth Denberg,
Shane Lyons, Bryan Hearn, Christy Knowings, Leon Frierson, and most
importantly, Amanda Bynes? I also kind of find it ridiculous that Nick
Cannon couldn't find the time to hop on a plane and show up in person.
I mean, Kenan Thompson is on "Saturday Night Live" out of New York City
but that didn't stop from being there.
Why did Jamie Lynn Spears have to get air time/a chance to speak over
original cast members Reyes, Johnson, and Bates? Spears has to be
undoubtably, the most disliked (by most hardcore fans of "All That")
cast member in the history of the show.
I have very bad feelings about the new "Vital Information" with LL JJ
taking over for Lori Beth Denberg and Danny Tamberelli. I just
couldn't help but cringe seeing LL JJ bugging his eyes and shouting the
whole time. Denberg made the segment work because she gave the
impression that the whole thing was to be taken seriously (thanks in
large part to her deadpan delivery).
I'm I the only one who thinks that Danny Tamberelli put on a ton of
weight since last being on "All That?" When I saw him in the Good
Burger sketch, my first thought was that he was wearing prosthetics.
I wish that other past cast members got a chance to do their old
characters besides Kenan & Kel. I know that Josh Server got to do
Detective Dan and Danny Tamberelli got to do the fat cop but Kenan &
Kel did probably a minimum of three characters on the special.
I was kind of disappointed that a sketch from the new cast (i.e. "The
Unreal World") got voted the funniest moment in "All That" history. My
theory is that most of the people who voted are kids who were born
either shortly before "All That" debuted or shortly after. Because of
this, they have know real recollection of the "glory days" of the show
(i.e. 1995-1998).
I hope that "All That" isn't junking TLC's theme song in favor of the
verison that Lil Bow Wow performed with female cast members. I was
thinking that may be the producers would junk the long standing theme
since TLC (after the untimely death of Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, whose
vocals were prominently featured) is no longer a relevant force in the
music industry.
From one point of view, I thought that it was neat to have old cast
members like Kenan, Kel, Josh, and Danny interact with the new cast.
But from another point of view, it kind of shows how the older episodes
blow the newer episodes miles away. I mean lame, predictable, and
overall royally stupid characters like Sugar & Coffee are no match for
Mavis & Clavis.

I agree with just about everything you said, especially Tamberelli's weight. He really let himself go. The "all time funniest moment" made me say "huh"? "That was it"? And J.J. doin Vital Information was cringe inducing. I would say though that I don't have a problem with the TLC version of the theme being replaced. The points you brought up (Left Eye's death and TLC's current irrelevance) are valid reasons to make a change. It's been there for 10 years, they can use something fresh.
I guess I'm not as upset about the reunion aspect of the special because from the start they never specified that everyone would be back. They mentioned Kenan, Kel, Josh and Danny would be featured so I wasn't expecting everybody, even though it would have been nice to see them all.
Before I get into the show. Let me talk about the theme music. Bow Wow needs to be slapped in the behind for his disrespect to TLC one of the greatest music groups ever, especially being where he is from, who his producer is. (Jermaine Dupri) Before or after his preformance, he should have given props to TLC, and would have been nice if he whore some Left Eye wear. Jermaine could have loan some to him, he whore a Left Eye shirt in a video once.
Most of his raps were Left Eye's rap from the old All That theme. He has to come up with his own raps. There is a rap code, that you don't cover other people's raps. You do your own.
And the girls of All That, as if they didn't have enough being compaired to the old cast, now they will forever be compaired to TLC, one of the great music groups of all time. I feel bad for them.
Now on to the show. Great to see Kenan and Kel back together, and some of the old characters. But I am disappointed I did not get to hear from any of the old castmembers, particularly Angelique, Alisa, and Katrina. They did not have to be in any sketches, just say something.
They didn't show many clips. Mostly new sketches. I wanted to see some clips from the old show.
EmoJoe 04-24-2005, 02:45 PM The new season wont be lame- at least i dont think it will be- their bringing back some of the old skits (Good Burger, Vital Information) ect.

Why would she come back and do a reunion if she left during the 4th season?
And you cant expect everyone to do it. I never expected everyone to be back.

In defense of Bow Wow, they announced it as Bow Wow performing the show's theme song, so if that's the theme, it's not up to him to change the lyrics. If the people associated with the show didn't approach Bow Wow in terms of updating any rap verses, it's not his fault or responsibility to change anything. And I doubt that those girls will "forever" be compared to TLC.
*Pleasant Tomorrow* 04-24-2005, 04:54 PM I liked the special, it was pretty cool seeing the old characters back. I was just disappointed that more old cast members didn't show. And Kevin...where the **** was Kevin?!?!?! Would've been awesome to see him come out before it started going "5 minutes..." Ahh, but nonetheless I was excited to see the big ear of corn :biglove:
Karen* 04-24-2005, 05:31 PM Aaahhh...MEMORIES! I loved the All That tenth anniversary reunion special. It would've been nice to see ALL the old cast members act again, but seeing some of the old clips was good enough. The opening was pretty catchy too (Clips of the opening credits from the past seasons).
It's nice to see that Kenan and Kel haven't lost their comedic chemistry as a duo and they still shared that chemistry with Danny and Josh. But they seemed reluctant to play some of their old characters (Kel didn't seem to be giving it his all in the Good Burger skit). But overall, I loved seeing the old characters. That last skit was especially interesting with the different characters from past and present seasons of All That coming together.
The special could've been better, but it was good and the feelings of seeing parts of the old All That were ones of nostalgia. I miss it so much! The new cast will never live up to the original cast! The old All That was actually FUNNY AND ENTERTAINING! When I see All That nowadays, I don't laugh as much as I did when I was younger because back then everything was funnier. :(

I also didn't expect them to get EVERYONE 'cuz god knows how hard THAT would be, but I thought at least they would get Lori Beth. I mean, when my friends think about All That, they think about Lori Beth too. I mean Lori Beth is just as well known as Kenan and Kel and Amanda and Josh and Danny and Nick and definitely Jamie Lynn Spears Hack. Do you kinda get my opinion?

Yeah i watched the reunion special today- it was nice to see some of the old skits back but they only had Kenan, Kel, Danny, and Josh...they needed Amanda and Lori Beth and than it would have been good. I mean sure Kenan, Kel, Danny, and Josh were good but Amanda and Lori Beth were huge parts of the show.
°Bubbly Blonde° 04-25-2005, 06:34 PM I didnt really like the reunion...though Kel (who I had a crush on) and Kenan were good, it was mostly just them, with a little bit of Josh (who I also had a crush on), and Danny who I didnt really care about...I can still remember the first seasons, when I was about 7 or 8. This was me and my friend's favorite show..back when the musical performances were all hip hop or R&B, which has always been my favorite genre (other than Pop). I stopped watching 6th season when the writing seemed to get a lot worse. The Mark Saul kid annoyed me too. I was watching an episode with the "new" cast, and I just couldnt believe how stupid the sketches were, and at first I thought it was my age, but after watching some of the old eps (and laughing at them), I realized it had to be something else about the show now. Yes, the skits were stupid back then, but they were more of a funny stupid. Now they're just childish stupid. I think the audience All That targeted and got when it first started is a lot different than the audience it's targeting now, which is why it's so terrible now imo. Oh, and Katrina, Alisa, Christy, and some others were THERE, but they were given any speaking roles. If they were going to have a reunion they should have just had the old cast, none of the new. The new cast messed up a lot of the sketches..

I totally agree with you. It was a reunion, and the new kids were pimping the new season. I was seriously getting upset because the whole thing was disappointing. I wanted Katrina, Christy, Alisa, blah, blah to all talk, because Kel and Kenan and Josh weren't the only ones who made the show. And where were Lori Beth and Amanda?!
Also, I agree with you on how stupid it is now. I think that the maturity level of the stupidity before was good. Now, it's just... dumb funny. Sugar and coffee?! Before we had Good Burger, The Angry Librarian, Ask Ashley, which were all great, and I still ultimately think they are great. The current ones, Know Your Stars, the rollercoaster that makes you sick, etc, are all childish, and ridiculous.
Karen* 04-26-2005, 02:02 AM The current ones, Know Your Stars, the rollercoaster that makes you sick, etc, are all childish, and ridiculous.

Jamie Lynn Spears is not funny. I don't know why she was on there or why she even have her own show.
I was disappointed in "Vital Information" because I thought "Yes, I get to see Lori Beth", but I was wrong. Instead, it was Little JJ or whatever his name is. It wasn't the same and it was truly horrible.
Overall, I didn't think it was "All That", yes pun intended.
