As I was looking at either VHS or MTV the other day I saw the 50 cent video about the candy shop and I threw my hands up in the air...............

I really hate rap, I don't even think it's really music.Rap is the triumph of image over substance. It blows Tender Chunks. Beats are fake, lyrical structure is non-existent, it relies on other people's music to form anything even slightly "musical", all sampled dreck, and the lyrics sound like they're chanting over a 70's cop show theme song with tons of profanity and "real" issues like killing so-and-so MFer (usually another rival person of color in "da hood") while claiming white police officers are their "worst enemies". If people found sensible solutions to inner-city violence, why, we wouldn't have rap lyrics, now would we? ohno:

Same thing goes for "rap-metal" like Linkin Park, who never owned an Iron Maiden album to save their lives.

And yes, while containing things that are technically musical, rap is NOT music. That's the whole point, if it were anything even remotely like a structured musical song, it would lose that sense of cutting edge "anarchy".

I can understand people not caring for heavy metal (poor souls), but blowing off EVERYTHING from classical to country, that, uhh, doesn't leave much of a musical horizon, now, does it? :confused: Country music is NOT music?? :eek: What's up with that?? ohno:

groups like Guns N Roses, Metallica (before they sold out in the 90's) and Black Sabbath (with Ozzy) as seperate entities have more musical talent than all of todays dime-a-dozen rappers combined (well, my opinion).

I don't like classical, but to deny that the artists have talent is wrong. Country is a very mixed bag, but I would definately take it over rap on it's worst day.

Wow. I dont like heavy metal or country but its music...

Rap is kinda lke garbage. I prefer over old school rap. Early rap music is softcore but today's rap is hardcore. You can go back to those old school days like Grandmaster Flash, Spoonie G, Sugarhill Gang and those other rap stuff from the 80's. Don't even count that 50 Cent singing "Candy Shop". A few weeks ago, 50 Cent nearly killed at the Hot 97 lobby. There was also Lil' Kim lies about the shooting and all that stuff. Today's rap music is about violence and sex. All that stuff is going down the drain. I prefer oldies, country, R&B, standards and adult contemporary. I don't listen to new rap. It's junk! I'll stick with the old school rap from the 80's.

One thing about this music rap that I don't like, I'm getting into country. I like country music but I still like other types of music like pop, R&B and a little bit of softcore rap from the 80's.

how the hell is classical not music???????? it's one thing not to like those kinds of music but to say its not music is just crazy.
