Police Handcuff, Arrest 5-Year-Old Girl
'I Don't Want to Go to Jail,' Says Young Student
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (March 18) - A 5-year-old girl was arrested, cuffed and put in back of a police cruiser after an outburst at school where she threw books and boxes, kicked a teacher in the shins, smashed a candy dish, hit an assistant principal in the stomach and drew on the walls.
The students were counting jelly beans as part of a math exercise at Fairmount Park Elementary School when the little girl began acting silly. That's when her teacher took away her jelly beans, outraging the child.

Exactly  Why did they arrest a five-year-old girl for throwing a tantrum?
Mr. Television 03-18-2005, 10:24 PM This is stupid. You'd think the police have more important things to do then to worry about a 5 year olds tantrum.
Cactus Jack 03-18-2005, 10:34 PM Exactly  Why did they arrest a five-year-old girl for throwing a tantrum?
Maybe it like REALLY REALLY got out of control, and the teacher just couldnt handle it, maybe it was a MEGA TANTRUM
dawsongirl 03-18-2005, 10:42 PM Do you think St. Petersburg Florida police are stupid and corrupt?
How on earth can you tell after just one incident?
As far as the story, I think this was a bit for than just a tamper tantrum. That little brat could have caused a lot of property damage and been a danger to the other children. Just sitting there and crying/screaming isn't much of a danger.
dawsongirl 03-18-2005, 10:44 PM "She's never going back to that school," Akins said. "They set my baby up."
WTF?! That must have been her lousy excuse for ****ty parenting.

That is true, though. But I don't think they needed to call the police, they could have just suspended her (or expelled her even.)
Shes sounds like a spoiled brat though

Either this is an outrageous 5 year old, or the police are weak themselves.
snl75 03-19-2005, 12:55 AM gee its a good thing i didnt go to that school i threw a couple of tantrums in my time but i only got sent home for the day also reading this i cant stop thinking about this kid i knew who was famous around our schoool for throwing huge tantrums in his classroom
Hollow 03-19-2005, 01:16 AM if it was the teacher who called the police over that, she shouldn't be teaching 5-year-olds until she understands their psychology. that is TYPICAL 5-YEAR-OLD BEHAVIOR. i work in a preschool and there have been a few kids throwing fits over their moms leaving them there and whatnot, and if someone tried actually to take legal action over it i would punch them in the nose.
Judge: Little girl, you have two charges of assault for hitting the assistant principal and giving your teacher a bruise on her leg, and three charges of vandalism for coloring on the wall, breaking a dish, and throwing books off the shelf and making a big mess for your teacher to clean up. i am sentencing you to 10 years in prison. [slams gavel]
Girl: Oh no!
Girl's mom: Oh no!
Girl's dad: Oh no!
Kool-aid man: [bursts in through wall] OHHHH YEAAAHHH
Judge: Mrs. Akins, your child is clearly out of control, and if she doesn't clean up her act after she's out of jail we just might execute her ass.
Mom: oh my god what kind of crack have you been snorting, since when was it illegal to draw on a wall!?!
Judge: since vandalism was considered a criminal offense, stupid!
Mom: you don't send a five year old to jail!
Judge: I'm the judge and i can do whatever the hell i want!
Girl: SHAT AP!!!! SHAT THE FACK AP!!!!!!1 I have a Nerf gun, and i'm not afraid to use it!
Judge: SECURITY!!!!!! SHE'S GOT A NERF GUN, SHE'S GOT A NERF GUN!!!!! [gets up and runs wildy]
[girl fires nerf gun at judge and hits him. he falls down in slow motion]
Judge: yoooooouuu havvvven't seeeeeeen theeeeeeee laaaaaaaast ooooofff meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee [dies]
THE END

Miss Golden 03-19-2005, 01:48 AM Its amazing that it keeps getting younger for kids to lose it. When I was in school 20 years ago, it was usually a 5th or 6th grader that would take actions like this.

yea and even then it was very rare. I knew some junior high kids that would act up and intimidate teachers and the police were never called. Schools used to police themselves. I know its different today but still-a 5 year old.
ABlairican Pie 03-19-2005, 10:04 AM I wonder if the kid understood the charges against her, was read her Miranda rights, and gave her fingerprints and mug shots.
Must have been a slow day for the cops. Or the doughnut shop was closed.
Rhiannon 03-19-2005, 10:14 AM ha she got her jelly beans taken away
Well, if anything, things will be quiet at that school.
I'm sure there won't be any students causing trouble for a while.
