View Full Version : Ratings For First Thursday for Jake in Progress
Superbowl 03-18-2005, 02:34 PM Jake In Progress in its first Thursday ratings were not good. It lost handily to Will and Grace. In fact, the Will and Grace repeat even beat it handily in the ratings. Once Survivor comes on in this time period it will be even lower. See this from Marc Berman's Program Insider :
-Yesterday's Winners:
The Apprentice 3 (NBC)
-Not a Slam-Dunk:
NCAA Basketball (CBS)
Yesterday's Losers:
Jake in Progress (ABC), Point Pleasant (Fox)
-Ratings Breakdown:
With NCAA Basketball on CBS in place of the regularly scheduled Survivor: Palau, CSI and Without A Trace, NBC moved into the No. 1 Thursday spot with its combination of two episodes (original and repeat) of Will & Grace, an Apprentice 3 clips show and a repeat of ER. Although insiders were predicting a comedy upset in the 8 p.m. hour, two original episodes of ABC's picturesque but deadly dull Jake in Progress could not top NBC's sinking Will & Grace. Take a look:
Thursday 8:00 p.m.
Will & Grace (NBC)
Overnights: 7.6/12 (#1), Viewers: 8.52 million (#2), Adults 18-49: 3.6/11 (#1)
Jake in Progress (ABC)
Overnights: 5.9/ 9 (#3), Viewers: 7.18 million (#3t), Adults 18-49: 2.2/ 7 (#4)
-----
Thursday 8:30 p.m.
Will & Grace R (NBC)
Overnights: 7.3/11 (#1), Viewers: 8.62 million (#2), Adults 18-49: 3.7/10 (#1)
Jake in Progress (ABC)
Overnights: 5.6/ 8 (#4), Viewers: 6.73 million (#4), Adults 18-49: 2.3/ 6 (#4)
Comparably, and based on the overnights, Jake in Progress was down by 38 percent in rating and four share points from its two-episode debut on Sunday, March 13 from 9-10 p.m. (avg. 9.1/13). Regarding Will & Grace, considering there was no Survivor in the mix, these ratings are nothing to boast about. As a reminder, total viewers and adults 18-49 are based on the fast affiliate ratings.

Caffeine King 03-19-2005, 12:01 AM Alot better then life as we know it so ABC is probably happy.
Superbowl 03-20-2005, 10:47 AM More Ratings stuff :
Thursday fizzler
for 'Jake in Progress'
Loses half the audience from Sunday's premiere
It’s still somewhat of a mystery what ABC’s new show “Jake in Progress” is doing on Thursday night, a night where the network has struggled for years against NBC and CBS and, more recently Fox.
“Jake” got good reviews and decent ratings in its Sunday preview, averaging a 5.5 rating among viewers 18-49 for two episodes.
But on Thursday, the show will surely wither away and die. Last night in the ultra-competitive Thursday 8 p.m. timeslot “Jake” averaged a 2.3 rating for two new episodes, according to Nielsen overnights. And that wasn’t even against CBS’s “Survivor,” which is on Wednesdays for two weeks while CBS airs the much weaker NCAA men's basketball tournament.
Two repeats of “Jake” did average a 2.5 rating during the 9 p.m. hour. But while “Jake’s” 2.3 at 8 p.m. was a 91.6 percent increase over what a repeat of “Extreme Makeover” averaged for ABC in the timeslot last week, it was down 58.2 percent from the premiere episodes on Sunday.
Elsewhere last night, NBC won the night among 18-49s with CBS showing basketball, though the two were much closer in households.
Basketball, an hour of "Will & Grace" on NBC, and a new "O.C." on Fox all finished ahead of "Jake" among 18-49s.
“Jake” averaged a 5.0 household rating at 8, a so-so showing that put it third for the hour, 0.1 ahead of "The O.C." At 9 "Jake" fell to a 4.8 as NBC’s “Apprentice” trumped the competition.
With a lackluster lineup of comedies, including new additions “Complete Savages” and “Rodney,” neither of which are expected to return next season, ABC seems to be wasting its most promising comic prospect by shedding episodes on a night that’s dominated by CBS and NBC.
Though “Jake” doesn’t fit into the network’s family-revolves-around-dad Tuesday night lineup (“My Wife & Kids,” “George Lopez,” “According to Jim,” etc.), ABC might have benefited more from placing the show on that night, where it could likely deliver more rating points.
It’s still possible that “Jake” could move there after its brief run. But after this week’s lackluster ratings against the weakest Thursday competition in months, that seems doubtful.
NBC’s “The Apprentice” was the highest-rated show of the night among 18-49s with a 5.0 average rating in its 9 p.m. timeslot. That helped NBC to first place for the night with a 4.2 average rating and 12 share. CBS was second at 3.5/10, Fox and ABC tied for third at 2.6/7, UPN fifth at 1.9/5 and the WB sixth at 1.2/3.
NBC led at 8 p.m. with a 3.6 average for an hour of “Will & Grace,” followed by Fox’s 3.4 average for “The O.C.” CBS was third with a 3.2 average for basketball and ABC fourth with “Jake’s” 2.3 average.
NBC led again at 9 p.m. with “Apprentice’s” 5.0 average. CBS was second with a 3.9 average for the NCAA Tournament and ABC third with its 2.5 average for “Jake” reruns.
NBC led again at 10 p.m., this time with a 4.0 average for a repeat of “ER.” CBS was second again with a 3.5 average for basketball, with ABC third with a 2.9 average for “Primetime.”
NBC finished first for the night among households, averaging a 6.9 rating and 11 share. CBS was second at 6.4/11, ABC third at 5.3/9, Fox fourth at 3.8/6, UPN fifth at 3.2/5 and the WB sixth at 2.1/3.

ABC, unfortunately, did not have a full house with another four episodes of Jake In Progress (two originals and two repeats) performing as follows:
Thursday/ABC
8-9 p.m.
Jake In Progress (two originals)
Overnights: 5.4/ 8 (#4), Viewers: 6.83 million (#4), A18-49: 2.2/ 7 (#4)
9-10 p.m.
Jake In Progress (two repeats)
Overnights: 4.4/ 7 (#4), Viewers: 5.52 million (#4), A18-49: 1.8/ 4 (#5)
Lead-out Primetime Live at 10 p.m. was a typical third with a 6.0/ 9 in the overnights, 7.76 million viewers and a 2.4/ 7 among adults 18-49.
It's a decent show, but it's going to get slaughtered on Thursday night.
Superbowl 03-25-2005, 05:18 PM The final ratings were actually worse than the fast affiliate ratings. Here were the final ratings :
Meanwhile, the "NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament" (households: 7.4/12, #4; adults 18-49: 4.0, #T5) on CBS (households: 7.4/12, #2; adults 18-49: 4.0, #3) held off ABC (households: 4.7/8, #4; adults 18-49: 2.2, #4) and its combination of a new "Jake in Progress" (households: 4.7/8, #T10; adults 18-49: 1.9, #T12), another new "Jake in Progress" (households: 4.7/8, #T10; adults 18-49: 2.5, #9), a repeat "Jake in Progress" (households: 3.7/6, #13; adults 18-49: 1.7, #14), another repeat "Jake in Progress" (households: 4.2/7, #12; adults 18-49: 2.0, #11) and a new "PrimeTime Live" (households: 5.5/10, #T8; adults 18-49: 2.4, #10).
Brent88 03-25-2005, 05:19 PM Ouch.
spunkygirl 03-26-2005, 03:28 PM I swear I thought this show was a drama, IMO ABC kinda promoted it as a drama, blew me away when I saw it was only a half hour and a sitcom
Coory 03-26-2005, 09:16 PM As much as I like this show I smell cancellation.
T-Greg 04-01-2005, 02:27 PM Did someone tape last night's (3/31) episodes? Part of my broadcast was interrupted by weatherman interruptions...why is it that they can't wait until the commercial to cut in?
Brent88 04-01-2005, 02:38 PM Awful ratings last night... this show will not see a 2nd season.
"Survivor: Palau" kicked off the night with a 12.1/19 for CBS. Reruns of "Joey" and "Will & Grace" averaged 5.2/8 for NBC, beating the 4.1/7 average for two episodes of ABC's "Jake in Progress." "Tru Calling" returned to FOX with a 3.6/6, good enough for fourth. "WWE Smackdown!" put UPN in fifth, ahead of an hour of "Blue Collar TV" on The WB.
Superbowl 04-01-2005, 05:29 PM Yeah, here is the more complete ratings. Very, very bad news.
The Alphabet then served up new episodes of "Jake in Progress" (households: 4.1/7, #T9; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T13), another "Jake in Progress" (households: 4.1/6, #T9; adults 18-49: 2.1, #10),
musicradio77 04-05-2005, 07:14 PM I hope the show is going under a venge of cancellation.http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/eek.gif
Anyone know how well it did Thursday night? (April 7)
