Does anyone know what episode aired the story about the Lake Champlain Sea Monster Champ. He is most closely compared to the Loch Ness Monster. I do research in NY on the creature and really want to see this episide.

My second question is was this story on any of the new DVD's that are out..

Thanks

One of the witnesses who described her sighting was a total nutjob. Does anyone else remember her?

I think who you mean is Susan Mansi. She was vacationing in Vermont when she took a photo of the beast. I have interviewed her. I am one the leading researchers on the beast in my spare time as I am in the Navy right now. Funny enough I am stationed iN Fallon, NV which was featured on an episode of the show.

the Champlain monster case isnt included in the DVD sets...the story aired in the 1992 season in the same episode as the Mafuz Haq case..he was wanted for murdering a love rival...anyone know if Haq was ever caught by the way?

I watched my tape again. It was Sandra Tappan that I was referring to. But Mansi was interviewed as well. Did you think she was credible?

Actually yes I do. I saw the original photograph of Champ that she took and it looks like all the photos that I have of him. I have seen him on probably 4 different occasions. But the great thing is that there are more than 1 of these creatures. The main source of information is www.champquest.com which is run by a great guy named David Hall. The site is currently under major construction as a virus hit it 2 weeks ago.

David Hall even found the exact location of the Mansi photograph. The creatures collectively known as Champ are real that is for sure. If you still dont believe me check this site out for sure. It has a clean video of the beast with hardly any distortion.

Let me know what you think. Oh and if you have this video can I have a copy. Last time I saw it I was a kid.

I remember Mansi's photograph. It showed the creature looking away from the camera to the other side of the lake. It's too bad her husband took the family away so quickly and they only got off one photograph. Then again, I think her picture was taken in the late 70's early 80's...long before the luxury of digital camers.

I remember seeing a few minutes of a documentary on Lake Champlane on the Discovery Channel a couple years ago and Mansi's picture was shown although she wasn't interviewed. I had to run out the door to class though so I couldn't watch the rest.

Just received an e mail from David Hall that Comedy Central came up to do a show on Champ. They brought in a sonar to try and get a reading. And you guessed it sonar did pick something up.

David also told me that he brought a video he captured of Champ into a marine biologist in Vermont. He didn't tell them who he was or anything or that the video was of Champ. He told them he thought he captured a huge sturgeon on tape and wanted them to take a look at it. After they watched it the first thing they said was "That is not a sturgeon." Then one of the women there said "Have you ever heard of CHamp?" David smiled and said of course I have.

As far as when the show on Comedy Central is going to air I don't know.

SOmeone had said the that the Mansi photograph was taken in the late 70's early 80's. The exact date of the photo was July 5th, 1977. SO yes there really wasn't any of the digital stuff we have today. The family even kept the photo secret for 4 years until 1981. When asked her the reason why only 1 photo was taken and why it wasn't shown to anyone sooner her reply was we really didn't think it was anything that special. Remember she was just on vacation at the time. So the family figured hey if something is this easy to see then many people must know about it. The other reason was embarrasment. As we all know with anything like this the first thing that someone tries to do is pick it apart and prove it to be a hoax.

This sea monsters name should be called "CRAP" for all the hype about this thing. Just like a sea monster in the great lakes and in Canada. It's a hoax people..

Well that is a strong thing to say without any proof. I have seen this creature on 3 occasions. Don't be afraid of what's different.

I went to school up at lake champlain I know all about this story and from what I was told and heard its a hoax. Any of those photographs could of been enhanced or dubbed over. Until this "CHUMP" is captured then its pure speculation. If so many people have seen it or have bene close to it, why no attempt to catch it?

You cannot capture the animal. NY State and Vermont have a law protecting the animal. If you catch it you will be breaking the law. I am not joking either. There is a Champ protection Act.

Yeah shock80, you should stop "stepping over" people's opinions. If you want people to respect your freedom of speech, do the same for hypno44's opinion as well.

I went to school up there. I'm trying to make a point by going to lake champlain I've read, heard, talk to many people about this. Not one person has stated they believe its real. So for me to believe you is ridiculous. If you have these pictures then post them. If u know for a fact that some creature lives in the "6th" great lake, then prove it to us. I would love to see it. I mean i'm assuming if you and some friends went on the lake trying to locate this thing u would have a camera handy why else would u go out right? So u said you have seen it, show us that's all im asking..

I went to school there to my friend. Like I was saying I am part of the research team for Lake Champlain. If it wasn't for being in the Navy right now I would be there doing more research. We do have photographs but we cannot make them available to the public as we are waiting for them to be studied by folks. Then we have to have them copyrighted. This is because the last time we posted pictures they ended up on a Loch Ness site saying they were pictures of Nessie. I will definitely make sure the pictures are made available to everyone once we have them.

If a person goes to the lake and sees this thing, they dont have to copyright anything from their camera. I can go up there and take a picture if its real and post it on the web. I can claim I saw "Champ" eventhough I didn't. Until this thing is actually claimed as real then anyone can say via photo that its the creature.

There always seems to be a delay in something. If someone takes a picture then show it to the public. why the mystery? The longer the wait the greater the hoax.

Listen I love when people reply to my threads. I think its great, its good to have a debate. I'm not bashing on anyone we are all stating our opinions. I would love to bring back UM. That would make our theories, facts and opinions much better.. I'm just having fun like everyone else is after a long day of work..
