I open my Hogan's Heroes DVDs and play Disc one. Well, what said Disc one was actually Disc 2 and vice versa. Anyone ever got a set like that, where there's some weird glitch or error?

I was worried that I was gonna end up with 2 of the same disc.

This happened with me with one of the Disney Treasures that I bought off eBay, it was sealed and I received two number 1 discs so I called up Disney and they sent me a replacement after I sent mine back.

I guess that I could call Paramount and exchange, but it's not that big of a deal. I just put them in their different cases.

I was never a fan of Hogan's Heroes, but I must admit, the show is entertaining. After watching some episodes, I popped out the movie "Auto Focus" and watched some of it.

The Three's Company DVDs are notorious for skipping. It'll either freeze and then skip to a later scene or just keep skipping until I fast forward it :lol: Damned thing. It only did it on one disc, though(season 2), so I was lucky

I'll agree with you to a point. Like when it comes to rewinding or fast forwarding during the show, I'd much prefer a tape. Because if you accidentally slip your finger or whatever, you could skip the scene entirely.

I guess the main thing is, if you take care of them, DVD's will last longer than VHS tapes. If they have normal packaging, then they save more space than tapes.

If that can be considered a "negative" of dvds, that's so, so, so, so small a thing to complain about. Couldn't your finger slip just as easily with a vcr remote?

Here's what I do...

After I'm done recording a show or movie, I go back and put chapter markers in at the end of commericals or a favorite scene, and remove all the rest that are just inserted automatically. Then, when I'm watching I can press one button and be through a commerical break or I can skip a boring scene. I love DVD's, a LOT better than VHS and the quality is better too.

When I bought "Friends - The Complete Second Season," there were no discs inside. I took it back and got a set that had the discs. I opened the second set before I left the store to be sure it wasn't empty as well.

That's with the cheaper tapes that are out there today, I agree. I have homemade VHS tapes from 15-19 years ago, and it's in pretty good shape, considering how old they are. Scotch really was the way to go back then. ;) I DO have one tape from 17 years ago (early 1988) where the picture is really wavy...Some tapes just age well, and others don't. :lol:

Oh yeah...I got an annoyance with that. My recorder sometimes gets stuck when it's finalizing because my recorder hates me. But the last time it did that, the DVD was finalized anyway. Other than that, it doesn't annoy me at all.

I agree that it's a small thing. And of course I choose DVDs over VHS. I was saying an annoying thing that happens to DVDs. And when my finger slips for a tape, then it just stops fast forwarding (or rewinding). It doesn't go to a whole other scene.

Don't worry, I'm still on the DVD side. ;)

My DVD remote has two different buttons.... one for skipping entire scenes, and one for fast-forwarding normally.

Yep when I am FF a videotape I ALWAYS go to far and have to keep Rewinding and FF'ing till I get to where I want, I never have that problem with DVDs :)

This isn't necessarily a mistake but I thought I'd put this here since this thread is active. I just noticed that the Fresh Prince set lists 24 season 1 episodes, but tvtome's ep guide lists 25. On tvtome, the two-parter "Someday Your Prince Will Be In Effect" is listed as two individual eps, but it's combined as 1 ep on the dvd. Episode count is somewhat important. So who do we go by, is it 24 eps like Warner says on the dvd, or 25 eps according to tvtome?

By the way, there is a mistake on the back of the Fresh Prince box. It says it's a two disc set, when they changed it to four discs at the last minute. I wonder if they fixed that sentence after the initial shipments.

I think that's because it originally aired as an hour-long episode.... and wasn't "to be continued" until syndication.

But still, how long is season one, 24 or 25 episodes?

yea, I've heard that some VHS tapes can only last about 30 years, while DVDs can last almost forever.

I noticed that on the dvdaficienados website, they list the air dates with the episodes. Well, for some reason, Fox put the episodes of Futurama on the disc in some random order that really doesn't make much sense. Either that, or Fox aired them weird. I'm not sure which.

Not a DVD "Set" but the UK "Friends: Season 9 Episodes 13-16" disc they put TOW Mugging before TOW Blind Date, and TOW Mugging does not even play during auto-play, to watch it you must select it from the Menu.

I got mine 5 days before Christmas... I don't have to finalize mine unless I want to play them in ANOTHER DVD player. They will work fine in mine. I usually put 3 or 4 hours worth the shows(hour and half-hour long) per disc and the quality is as close to perfect as I've ever seen.

Mine freezes up from time to time, sometimes just when I am setting timers or going through the menus doing something. I lost some info on a DVD a few weeks ago. I had been recording and it locked up at the end, but because the recording never stopped(it was out of my hands by then), it erased what it had on there, BUT it was still on the disc(because the avaliable space was gone), but there was no way to access it. :rolleyes:

That's not exclusive to dvds. Something could be claimed enhanced and restored on a vhs tape too and not be.

One more positive of DVDs are, you don't have to "Be Kind, Please Rewind". I have a bunch of tapes that I haven't rewound. Yet, with DVDs, it doesn't matter.

It's a line from a James Brown song called "The Payback." It's been used on some sitcoms too. I'm tempted to say it's been used on both Sanford and Son and the Wayans Brothers, but I'm not positive about either of those.

24. When the extended-length episodes share a production #, and the guidewriter splits it off with the "A" and "B" designations, it's one episode, as far as I'm concerned. When the production #s are different for the two halves, then it should be listed and counted as 2 episodes.
