I was flipping channels and caught just a piece of this years awards. They were honoring a long time character actor named Charles Lane. They showed a clip from the CATM episode he was in, the one where Ed is encouraged to hire a senior citizen. Charles Lane played the crusty old mechanic who reminded Chico and Ed too much of Ed. It was cool to see our show, even if it was just a clip!
BTW Charles was being honored because he turned 100 this year, he has worked in movies and TV for over 60 years! What an achievement. He told the audience he was still available for anyone who was interested!
that's cool! I was flipping through the channels the other day and saw a repeat of last years awards just in time to see Jr accept the visionary award for his Dad!

How wonderful! That was a great episode--very good social commentary with the usual perfect comic flair!
To think that this man is still around at 100! That is such an achievement in itself, it is nice to know he was honored for it and his work.

It sure feels good to know that Mr. Lane is still with us. Does anyone know if the TVLand awards has already been shown on TV? If it did then I missed it.
I saw the charles lane clip!!! and the clip with Freddie was one of the longer ones and Freddie spoke....love it!

They were on for the first time last night. If I know TVLand, they will be running them again real soon!
And it was good to see the CATM clip be a longer one and not just a still from the show like a few of his other appearances were!

Wow, I didn't realize Charles Lane was still living! He played the part of Mr Dithers on the old 1950's Blondie & Dagwood show & the part of Homer Bedloe on Petticoat Junction who always wanted to get rid of the Cannonball train. I think he was on Bewitched as well & a bunch of other old shows. He usually played crusty old characters. I always think of him as Homer Bedloe. I have one of the Homer Bedloe Petticoat Junction eps on dvd...

My husband didn't either. They were saying he was in hundreds of movies and TV shows over the sixty years he was in show business. We were figuring he was still guest staring in things well into his 90's.
One of the roles my hubby reminded me of was as Mr. Potter's side kick in "It's a Wonderful Life"

I've been doing some digging up and found a picture of Mr. Lane's professional picture. God has given him many long years.... I've seen his face everywhere.
He deserves every accolade there is. :clap
