In "Beaver's Sweater" June gives us some tantalizing clues about her childhood. She tells Ward that when she was Beaver's age (9 years old) she wanted an opal ring from "Sutter's" and went to the store window to look at it. She said her father wanted her to get galoshes. So we know June's father was alive and well when she was 9 years old. Also, she mentioned "Sutter's" in a way that (to me) suggested it was a store in Mayfield. I'm thinking June and her father were living in Mayfield when she was 9 years old.

I've heard conflicting information from June. In some episodes, she mentions her mother and father (particularly her Dad) but in others, she claims to have been raised by Aunt Martha. I guess the writers were confused?

From my understanding, June was raised mostly in the summers by aunt Martha when she went to State or whatever school when she apparently met Ward and the way I understand it her parents seemed to have slowly disappeared from her life, leading me to believe that they were neglectful or at least her mother was because aunt Martha seemed to become her mother figure.

June was a spy during the war. After she got married she kept mixing up her elaborate cover stories. That's how her parents got killed. June inadvertently gave them up. :(
