anyone know where I can get one of these for cheap... they are 80 dollars in the stores (not what i consider cheap...) anyone know any good websites for gaming systems? i'm not into the whole video game world, i'm buying this for my boyfriend, so I have no clue where a good place, other than Walmart, would be to get one for a good deal.

any suggestions?

Your best bet probably would be Walmart. When you factor in shipping for most things you buy online it usually turns out to be the same price or even more expensive to go that route, unless you can place a low bid on Ebay and actually win it if someone doesn't snipe you.

Sorry I can't help you anymore than that. Perhaps someone else here can.

do they sell the regular Game Boy Advance in stores anymore, or is it only the SP?

I don't see a lot of them anymore. The regular GBA came out in 2001 and besides, it would be better to get the GBA SP anyway... It has a backlight. Definitely worth the $80, IMO.

I got a GBA SP before Christmas and I really feel it was worth my money. Your boyfriend can play in the car in the dark if you guys make a car trip, but he wouldn't be able to if you just got him a regular GBA.

Good luck :)

well the only thing i'm worried about is the SP is smaller, and he's got pretty big hands..

I can only find the regular GBA on ebay, the SP is everywhere....

so whatcha think?
backlight... does that just mean he can play in the dark?

I'm not positive, but I think GameStop and various stores (Walmart SHOULD have something like this too) sells this add-on to the SP that would make gameplay more comfy...It makes people with large hands more comfy when playing on the SP. Maybe I dreamt it... But it doesn't hurt to look. :)

I have both the regular GBA and GBA SP, and I hate my regular GBA. You know, say, that gives me an idea. I'll get to it in a second though... Yes, the backlight means you can play in the dark. Pretty sweet. :D

Okay, as for my idea...Check your PM's in about 5 minutes. :)

Get him a DS!
Those things are $150, last time I checked. That's nearly 2x as much as a GBA SP.

no no no no DS for him :D plus, since it's new, i've noticed there aren't a whole lot of games out for it.. but then again, i'm by far a video conosoir. But anyway... yea, i'm gonna stick w/ the GBA, just not sure whether to go SP or not.

quick question: which screen is bigger? the GBA or the GBA SP?

SP. the games formatted especially for it take up the whole screen. regular GBA games still work on it but the screen appears the same size as on the GBA.
