After all my years of watching TC i never realized there was no address ever given for the APT the Trio lived in

Heart Shaped Box 03-13-2005, 04:39 PM They thought John Ritter was gay?!?!!?!?!
*Dies*
*Faints*
Oh my god! How could they possibly think he was gay?
*Dies again*
Well, my friends think he is gay too. Maybe because he had a little high-pitched voice. But so what? Does that mean that all guys with high-pitched voices are gay? No!
*Grumbles at the people who harrased him*
Stupid people! They're so mean!

And it wasn't like he was acting gay all the time, it was ony around one character, the landlord. He still had girlfriends on the show
Heart Shaped Box 03-13-2005, 04:51 PM Yea, I know. And he kissed them too all the time! Geez..some people are really stupid and mean! And didn't they know he had a..*cough* wife?
*Rolls eyes*
Did you find anything else that we might not know? I wish they could have made an epsiode where Chrissy got raped. That would have been very exciting.
I Love John Ritter 03-13-2005, 04:52 PM They thought John Ritter was gay?!?!!?!?!

His voice wasn't high pitched.
Heart Shaped Box 03-13-2005, 04:55 PM I know it wasn't, but like sometimes when he was yelling or something. I don't mean like a girl high-pitched. If you listen to him in "The Kleptomanic" where Mr. Roper comes in the door after Jack falls off the ladder, you can hear like a little sqeak. I really don't know. I'm probably acting crazy right now.
*Nods*
All this school work is stressing me out.

Why would it be exciting to you to have an episode where Chrissy was raped??
Heart Shaped Box 03-13-2005, 05:05 PM Because they never had an episode where something really bad happened or anything. Usually, the episodes were safe, well wait, except for maybe a few that I probably didn't see. I just mean that it would be exciting because then it really wouldn't be comedy is Chrissy got raped. It would be more dramatic and everything, and Three's Company is a comedy series. That's all I mean.

Oh okay, I understand your point of view now.
IMO, I love the show the way it is. I didn't think it needed any "serious" episodes because it is a comedy. I think the most serious the show ever got was "Chrissy's Hospitality" where Chrissy has to go to the hospital and Jack and Janet think she's going to die, but even that was hysterical.
Heart Shaped Box 03-13-2005, 05:23 PM Yes, I agree. I love the show the way it is too. But, I'm just saying, I would have been excited to see how everyone else would have reacted if that would have happened. It would have shown a serious side of them, and more caring side.
I love "Chrissy's Hospitality"! Yes, I thought it was so funny. Espiscally when Jack and Chrissy were in the bathroom! That is one of my favorite quotes when they're in the bathroom! Oh, and I think there was also an episode where Jack and Janet got robbed or something? I don't know though, I never saw it. I think it was called "Eyewitness Blues".

Yeah, "Eyewitnes Blues" was when Janet's flower shop got robbed, but of course, that episode was hysterical too!
Heart Shaped Box 03-13-2005, 05:31 PM Yea, if they ever had a episode that was serious, I bet John could still even make it funny!
*Giggles*
I think I should go. I have a 10 page story due tomorrow. I'm only half way through!
*Grumbles*
*Waves*

Yes the "Eyewitness Blue" episode is when Janet and Jack are robbed at the Flowershop
Janet McFarland 03-13-2005, 07:46 PM Suzanne Somers would sometimes give Joyce Dewitt Foot Massages
Wow I never knew that
TVFactFan 03-13-2005, 07:52 PM Wow I never knew that
That seemed so ODD to me-LOL A grown women massaging another grown woman's feet.
Auntie 03-16-2005, 12:40 PM I really don't think that John Ritter was gay. Not being married in real life with 3 children. Now, maybe after he took the role in 'Sling Blade', might confuse someone.
Number 9 Dream 03-16-2005, 01:12 PM I think people assumed John was gay because 1.) the times were a bit different back then....I don't think people were as accepting of the fact someone could play a gay man so well and NOT be gay and 2.) He played the part really well. He's just a great actor. Wasn't he the first guy on television to portray a gay man? Well, we all know he WASN'T actually gay in the series, but wasn't he the first guy to even insinuate(sp?) that he was? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I can't recall any other t.v. shows that had an openly "gay" character.
Also, I'm not slandering John in ANY way(cause you know how much I love him) but he IS a sensitive guy and that's what I love about him. I think back then people would assume you're gay if you're not 100% macho or whatever. I dunno. I love him exactly the way he is :)
Heart Shaped Box 03-16-2005, 05:43 PM I couldn't agree with you more Kristel! I think that they assumed he was gay too because he played Jack really well. But obviously the people who thought he was gay were obviously stupid. I mean, come on, he was married to Nancy Morgan. Doesn't that give them a little hint?
And I totally agree about John being sensitive. I mean, that's what I practicually look for in a guy. And that's the way I love him too. You could easily tell how sensitive he was on the set, just by the way he played Jack.

But he was such a great actor, he was amazing with playing Jack I guess people who didnt know him that well just thought he was gay! Or maybe they did it to make him mad.
Number 9 Dream 06-08-2005, 01:52 PM Just reviving this thread-- I stumbled upon jumptheshark.com and was reading a whole bunch of threads about Three's Company(many were from before 2003) and whole bunch of people STILL thought John Ritter was gay, even years after playing that character

It was probably because Jack wasn't a manly man like Larry. He was kind of Passive and not really a Fighter and was afraid to stand up for himself in addition to living with Two Girls. So that's probably the reason. But he was still my favorite character
Number 9 Dream 06-08-2005, 02:22 PM Yeah, I agree

Heart Shaped Box 06-08-2005, 02:24 PM Ugh..people are so stupid! John was not gay! Can't people see that? God, if he had two wives and kids, don't you think that people would finally get a clue and realize that they were wrong? God, that makes me mad.
Number 9 Dream 06-08-2005, 02:31 PM Yeah I know...I was getting mad reading those threads...a lot of people were making fun of the cast :(
Ugh..people are so stupid! John was not gay! Can't people see that? God, if he had two wives and kids, don't you think that people would finally get a clue and realize that they were wrong? God, that makes me mad.
Terri Cardellini 06-08-2005, 03:14 PM omg i know these people are so stupid and WRONG and just downright discusting......
*when terri joined the cast of three's company, the show jumped. she just wasn't goofy enough. and from what i recall, she's the only cast member who disappeared when the show was cancelled.
(ya right, her filmography is HUGE)
*As a horny teenager at the time, I watched the show simply for its sexual overtones. Suzanne Somers was good, her replacement was too tall and lanky, but then Terri....huba hubba! She was the Ginger of my teenage years. I don't believe there has ever been a hotter character on TV. I saw her recently on E, and unfortunately she hit that brick wall. But back then, those blonde highlights, perfect legs and thin frame were all I needed for all my fantasies. I, too, was disappointed that Jack never went for Lana...she was pretty hot for an older broad, and Jack was supposedly this swinging single. An inconsistent plotline.
(EWW ok weird ppl)
*I wanted to see Jack and Janet get married and Terri under the wheels of a car Cindy had bought from Larry while Furley got a bigger job from an old friend played by Andy Griffith.
(:eek:that's not nice)
*i hated terri. did anyone else ever notice she couldn't stand up straight? she was the worst physical actress ever. everything about her drove me nuts.
( :( )
*I only watched 5 minutes of Terri and realized that she was a bad actress, she seemed like she was trying too hard to be popular like Suzanne and it didn’t work and how come she’s the only one you never hear about nowadays.
( :( again her filmography is huge)
*When Terri was a no-name actress in Hollywood, she supposedly was Penthouse's Pet of the Month in 1976 under a different name. If this is her and that's the body she had under those outfits, Jack should have moved in with Terri and put Janet into his old bedroom!
(sry that one made me laugh for some reason  )
*The first time I saw Priscilla Barnes on the screen. HIDEOUS. AWFUL. TERRIBLE ACTRESS. I could even tolerate Jennilee Harrison as Cindy (not easily but hey, she tried.) Priscilla still makes me want to shoot the screen out of my TV.
( :( :( :( )
*Three's Company was a terrific, ground breaking series. However, with Suzanne Somers out of the picture with the end of season 5, they added on that boring Terri when the 6th season came around. Man, when Terri went on the show it went to hell. She wasn't funny and you could tell me John Ritter didn't like working with her, it's no wonder why he became the focal point of the show. Terri just couldn't pull it off and it's wonder why the series no long after she was on. She was a ****ty character and What has she done since then?
( I'm not even gonna comment on that  )
I know those are just other people's opinions but I just wanted to share with you all the ones I TOTALLY disagree with
Number 9 Dream 06-08-2005, 03:21 PM Ugh, people suck

Number 9 Dream 06-08-2005, 03:22 PM p.s. Joyce got a huge barrage of insults as well :(
Chain Gang Member 06-08-2005, 03:58 PM I don't people knew that Jack was a straight man pretending to be gay so he could live in the apartment.I wonder how people thought that when 1)He was a womanizer and with a different woman every episode and 2)Almost every epsiode,he was going after the girls
Kristen J. 06-08-2005, 04:00 PM I don't even go there anymore. I went there only once and read waaay too many hurtful things!! :( Idiots!!
I Love John Ritter 06-08-2005, 05:54 PM Who cares what those people think? They're obviously a bunch of ignorant idots that can't even give a civil opinion. People should just ignore what they have to say.
Chain Gang Member 06-08-2005, 06:03 PM I think people probably think of The Rock that way because in Be Cool, he played a gay bodyguard
Fleet 06-08-2005, 10:10 PM That seemed so ODD to me-LOL A grown women massaging another grown woman's feet.
Well, it's a big sacrifice, but I volunteer to rub Joyce's feet (or any other part of her).
