Man Dead On Futon For Nearly 10 Years Before Family Notices
Father Found Lying Dead On Futon

POSTED: 2:52 pm EST March 9, 2005

TOKYO -- A Japanese man and his two sisters were worried something might be wrong with dad. And they were right.

The old man had been dead for nearly a decade. Police questioned the three elderly siblings Tuesday, after the decomposing body of their father was found lying on a futon bed in the family's home.

Police said the man's children thought he was still alive, but became worried lately and consulted a relative. Police said judging by the condition of the remains, the father could have died as long as 10 years ago.

Thats Hilarious. Not that he died, But the fact that his family is so stupid.

I Wonder if they ever went to him for advice and stuff while he was dead. I Picture them acting like hes still alive and having conversations with him and everything all those years. That would make an AWESOME Sitcom!

How the heck didn't they know he was dead for ten years?

I'm wondering the exact same thing.

It's kind of sad if you think about it though...It's as if the man's kids ignored him if they didn't know he's been dead for so long.

that almost reminds me of a rumor that spread in junior high about a freakish girl that her grandmothers 15+ year old corpse still had a bedroom in her house, apparently a friend of hers bragged that she had her over to her house and showed him her grannys corpse and then went "hi grandma". I dunno why I remember that, who knows if it was true or not, but it's definately kinda funny in a gross way if so.

umm about two years ago in my town, three dead babies were found in a shed, in boxes, wrapped up in plastic and evidently had been there for 8-10 years.

Didn't they ever go to see their Father, call him, etc. in ten years? I guess they were not very close. Obviously.

That's disgusting. How could they not notice he was dead? Wouldn't the smell of decay be present after he died? That's really sad, but kind of funny at the same time.

That would make an AWESOME Sitcom!

Yeah, that would make a good plot for a sitcom. For one episode anyway. Kind of a morbid sounding sitcom. What would it be called? "Daddy's Dead", "Life Without Father", "A Decade Of Silent Grief", or "What, Daddy's Dead?", "People Die, Life Goes On", "Daddy's Dead, Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da. I come up with the most morbid sounding titles.

*points* I REMEMBER WHEN YOU POSTED ABOUT THAT. That was in the spring of 2003! *nods*

Anyway, this was posted at another board I frequent, and the theory over there was they DID, in fact, know their father had been dead for 10 years but pretended not to acknowledge it so they could collect his retirement checks.
