THREAD WILL OPEN SOON. BE PATIENT.
COMING SOON ... In June: A VERY special 50th anniversary weekend; Nick@Nite's 20th anniversary weekend; More new Top 10's; New Inside TV Land Special; Father's Day and more!
In July: Good Timesssssssss!! August: Night Court
I was over at Morty's TV (http://www.mortystv.com) and there, it says that the VERY special 50th anniversary weekend for June is going to be more than one show, so now I'm really racking my brain trying to come up with ideas of what it could be. My top two guesses are either A: It's someone's 50th birthday (which I doubt since someone born in 1955 would be in more recent shows) or B: Something entirely different, in other words, I have no idea.
The N@N 20th anniversary weekend sounds like a must-see, and the fact that Morty quoted you as saying that the upcoming events on TVLand are a lot better than the current TVLand makes me even more curious.
Alas, I will have patience.
Pavan 03-27-2005, 06:40 PM I still haven't seen the marathon schedules, but it is going to be good (I've seen brief mentions of SOME shows for each event). I'm sure everyone will like something in that 50th anniversary weekend of "something." And I know everyone will love the Nick@Nite 20th Anniversary Weekend on TV Land, in which you'll see all your favorite shows from the past 20 years from Nick@Nite. And that is not all! Nick@Nite will also be planning something VERY cool for its anniversary!
Hopefully within the next week or two (or three??) I'll be able to post all three big events.
Wow! Thanks for reassuring us that the Nick@Nite thing isn't going to be shows that were on network TV in 1985 LOL
And with the news of six new sitcoms coming, it gets me thinking, what shows will be leaving soon? Carol and Flip are most likely going to be gone, as will The Addams Family and I don't expect SCTV to last too long. Hunter and Highway to Heaven seem like they would each lose a timeslot (H would be only shown overnight and HTH only in the afternoons maybe?).
And please, don't get the idea that I'm trying to pressure you for the info that you can't tell us. I've been around here long enough to know that patience pays off...I still remember June 2002 and how AMAZING that was...
Pavan 03-27-2005, 06:54 PM Wow! Thanks for reassuring us that the Nick@Nite thing isn't going to be shows that were on network TV in 1985 LOL
I don't think I said that? TV Land and Nick@Nite are planning something very different for the N@N 20th Anniversary, but I think it is better that way because everyone is going to like this.

Pavan 05-02-2005, 11:20 PM TV LAND LOVES RAYMOND WHEN CLASSIC TV NET SALUTES
SERIES FINALE OF EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND
May 16 Salute Features 210 Guys Named Raymond Paying Tribute to
Every Episode of Acclaimed Series
New York, NY, May 2, 2005 – In a fitting tribute to Everybody Loves Raymond, one of television’s most popular and beloved sitcoms, TV Land will pre-empt regularly scheduled programming to salute the series on Monday, May 16 – the night of the series finale on CBS. TV Land’s tribute to Everybody Loves Raymond is presented by Earthlink.
Beginning at 9 p.m., as the finale of Everybody Loves Raymond begins, TV Land will be closed for business. Instead of regularly scheduled programming, viewers tuning in to TV Land will instead see a room filled with 210 guys actually named Raymond. Each Raymond represents an episode of the series, and will wear a t-shirt identifying which episode they represent. They will stand and introduce themselves, one by one, by name and episode, for the entire half hour. Throughout this tribute, TV Land will remind viewers that they should really be watching the finale on CBS.
TV Land has pre-empted programming to pay tribute to a series finale twice in the network’s nine-year history. The first time was in 1998 to salute the finale of Seinfeld. Throughout the entire hour, TV Land aired nothing to salute the show about nothing. The only thing seen on the channel was an image of TV Land’s closed office doors accompanied by a note explaining that the network would return after the conclusion of Seinfeld’s finale. More recently, in 2004, for the entire hour that the Friends finale aired, viewers watching TV Land were treated to a room full of TV Land staffers – purportedly watching the Friends finale -- periodically addressing the camera to remind viewers that the Friends finale was on and that we really weren’t airing anything so there was no point staying tuned.
“Everybody Loves Raymond is poised to take its place as one of television’s most memorable family sitcoms,” states Larry W. Jones, President, TV Land and Nick at Nite. “TV Land wants to be sure that no viewers accidentally miss this historic television event.”
TV Land knows that Everybody Loves Raymond but the network wants to prove our love to 210 Raymonds (and by “prove our love” we mean put them on TV!). Space is limited so all Rays are asked to please email RayTV@tvland.com or call 866-99-RAYTV to reserve a spot for the tribute taping on Wednesday, May 11. Rays should leave their first and last name as well as a phone number in order to be contacted with detailed information.
rodwayne 05-03-2005, 04:35 PM I say good riddance to Everyone Loves Raymond. :cheer: So much have been made about a very Overrated show. Now we curse to watch reruns of this overwrought farce. And both Nite At Nite and N@N T.V. Land going to go dark because of HIM :angryfire It figures!!!Well,I'm still looking forward to the 20 year celebration.
barwars 05-03-2005, 05:10 PM I think it's a funny and smart move by TVLand. What better way to honor TV than to make sure people watch an event in TV history. I do however believe that they should have does this for Frasier last year as well....
TV DVD Fan 05-03-2005, 08:28 PM i agree.
pat
rodwayne 05-04-2005, 03:40 PM I STILL DISAGREE!!!It's not funny, and it's disrupted!!!"Everyone Love Raymond":I NEVER HAVE OR WILL AND I'm willing to bet there are other people whom feels the same way.
Pavan 05-24-2005, 06:33 PM TV LAND CELEBRATES THE LIFE OF COMIC ACTOR AND
FILM DIRECTOR HOWARD MORRIS
Santa Monica, CA, May 24, 2005 - TV Land will honor the life and work of
acclaimed television actor Howard Morris with a six-episode presentation of
The Andy Griffith Show on Wednesday, May 25 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET/PT.
Morris, who passed away in Los Angeles on Saturday at the age of 85,
co-starred in The Andy Griffith Show - one of the most beloved sitcoms of
all time -- as the rock-throwing, poetry-spouting Ernest T. Bass. TV Land
has selected six memorable episodes from The Andy Griffith Show featuring
Morris to showcase on Wednesday evening.
"We are all deeply saddened by the passing of Howard Morris," explains Larry
W. Jones, President, TV Land and Nick at Nite. "Howard was one of the most
prolific comedians and directors in the entertainment industry, and we
cherish the legacy he left behind."
Morris, who was born in New York, was in his teens when he befriended the
legendary Carl Reiner. In 1951, he joined the cast of the TV comedy/variety
series Your Show of Shows alongside Sid Caesar, Imogene Coca and Reiner. He
then joined Caesar and Reiner in Caesar's Hour when Your Show of Shows was
cancelled in 1954. Among the films in which he acted included The Nutty
Professor, High Anxiety and History of the World, Part I. Although he played
Ernest T. Bass on The Andy Griffith Show for only a handful of episodes, the
role was a memorable one.
His directorial career took off when he began directing several TV programs
such as the pilot for Get Smart, Gomer Pyle USMC and The Dick Van Dyke Show.
His theatrical-film directorial credits included Who's Minding the Mint? in
1967 and Goin' Coconuts in 1978. Morris was also a fixture of the animated
cartoon voice-over world such as "Atom Ant and "Jughead" on The Archie
Comedy Hour.
The episodes in TV Land's tribute to Howard Morris are as follows (all times
ET/PT):
7p #94 - "Mountain Wedding"
Howard Morris guest stars as Ernest T. Bass as the Darling clan returns to
Mayberry with its own kind of mountain trouble.
7:30p #098 - "Ernest T. Bass Joins the Army"
Ernest T. Bass is a mountain man very disgruntled with being rejected by the
army.
8p #112 - "My Fair Ernest T. Bass"
Howard Morris, playing a mountain-bred would-be Romeo, is brought into the
sheriff's home in an effort to teach him some manners.
8:30p #131 - "The Education of Ernest T. Bass"
Ernest T. Bass goes back to school when his girl spurns him as an
illiterate. He quickly proves he won't win any gold stars for deportment of
scholarship.
9p #140 - "Andy and Helen Have Their Day"
Andy and Helen are supposed to have a day off, but are continually
interrupted at their secluded picnic spot by Barney asking questions about
his duties.
(Howard Morris guest stars as the TV Repair man, and also directed this
episode)
9:30p #174 - "Malcolm at the Crossroads"
Andy hires a rock-throwing rustic as a school crossing guard and compounds
the problem by replacing him with a bicyclist. (This was the last episode
Ernest T. Bass appeared in.)

How irritating. A show is going off the air, big whoop! Life goes on. Those who want to watch it good for them, but those who don't want to watch should still be able to watch TV Land if they'd like. This crap that they pull when a show goes off the air is pointless. I don't know why they always insist on doing this.

That's the point that I was trying to make! Why make us suffer just to celebrate a overrated comic(actually, there was two on the show if you count Brad Garrett),and his unfunny show. And you're right to say that this stunt was pointless. The whole damn thing is pointless(just like EverybodyLoves Raymond). :livid: :angryfire puke: :cuss: :wallbang pissed: :2mad :censored:

It doesn't make sense, because TVLand doesn't sync up with local airings of shows all over the country. For example in the Mountain Time Zone, this special came on at 7PM while the last episode of Raymond came on at 8. The same went for the Freinds and Seinfeld finales.
Pavan 05-27-2005, 06:08 PM Yet another death. TV Land will pay tribute to another legend:
TV LAND HONORS THE LIFE OF ICONIC HOLLYWOOD ACTOR
EDDIE ALBERT
New York, NY, May 27, 2005 - TV Land will celebrate the life and work of late actor Eddie Albert -- who passed away on Thursday, May 26 in Southern California at the age of 99 -- with a special two hour Green Acres marathon airing on Monday, May 30 beginning at 8pm (ET/PT). Each episode featured in the two hour block was handpicked by TV Land and features some of Albert's most signature moments in his portrayal of "Oliver Wendell Douglas."
"We are deeply saddened by the death of Eddie Albert," said Larry W. Jones, President, TV Land and Nick at Nite. "Eddie had a wonderful career, providing laughter and entertainment for generations. He will truly be missed."
Born in Illinois and raised in Minneapolis, Eddie Albert started his career by working in the circus on the flying trapeze. In the summer of 1936, he made the switch to entertainment and appeared on television -- years before TV was introduced to the public -- in RCA/NBC's first private live performance for radio licensees in New York City. He then went on to star in his first film role in "Brother Rat" in 1938. Since then, he has appeared in dozens of films - including the original version of The Longest Yard in 1974, which was just remade and released this Friday. Over the course of his film career, Mr. Albert received two Oscar nominations: one for best supporting actor in William Wyler's "Roman Holiday" (1953) and another best supporting actor nod for "The Heartbreak Kid" (1972). Although he was acknowledged for his film work, Mr. Albert was most recognized for his starring role as "Oliver Wendell Douglas" in Green Acres opposite Eva Gabor. The series lasted six years (1965-1971) but will forever be remembered.
