Topher Grace, who plays the central character of That '70s Show is leaving this season. The show is built around his character and we see the '70s through his eyes.
In 1980, Ron Howard, who played Richie, the central character of Happy Days left the show after finishing the 7th season. That show took a look at the 1950s through his eyes.
When Ron Howard left the show along with fellow cast member Donny Most (Ralph) after season 7, it went downhill rapidly over the remaining four seasons.
The producers of That '70s Show should learn a lesson and end the show with the season finale. Topher Grace is the only decent actor on the show and it aint gonna be the same without him. And this is the show's 7th season...scary!!

Yea, I can see the similarity there. They are easy to compare because they both take place in the past. They also have a similar comedy style. That new show Life on a Stick looks like it should be pretty funny, similar style to 70's show. I'm looking to check it out. Heck, maybe start a thread!

With one major exception, though...Happy Days was funny.

In fairness, I don't agree that Topher is the only good actor but the show has gone downhill already. It was a terrific show with, what I thought, were original ideas. The last couple of years however....
This is similar to Happy Days as the show CENTERED around Howard like this show centers around Topher. It's too bad but....all good things..... :(

If Ted McGinley comes anywhere near That '70s Show, arm yourself with a remote and change the channel.
In retrospect, I wish Happy Days had ended with the 7th season. It was time to move on, but they didn't want to let it go. I understand that the actors and crew wanted to have jobs, but it's better to leave the party early rather than be there when it's long since over.
