Court reporter is also now dead... also 4-5 people shot(1 possibly was in a car he carjacked after the incident). Authorities are looking for this man:

He was in the court this morning on rape charges... he apparently got the gun from a deputy inside the room and then held the people hostage before going on the rampage. He was last seen driving a Green Honda Accord(which was a reporter's car he stole outside the courthouse!) with licenses plate 658 4YN. It's been an hour and a half since he fled so he could be well away from Atlanta by now.

3 now dead... the judge, a court reporter, and a deputy. The last known car he was driving(which he stole from a journalist outside) has been found abandoned in Atlanta tonight... no sign of him. He has family in Florida reportedly. There is now a $60,000 reward.

Just terrible. I've been watching this all night on tv. I pray that he doesn't kill anyone else before this manhunt is over.

Apparently the guy is still in Atlanta. The car was abandoned after dark(because authorities thoroughly swept the area in the hours after the shootings), and it was only a BLOCK!!! from where he took it. There have been threats phoned in against the D.A. and the prosecutor. Apparently the woman prosecutor was the real target, but she was running late. Also it was revealed tonight the guy was carrying AT LEAST two 9mm handguns and four clips of ammo when he fled the courthouse. :eek:

A person my mom works with went to school with that guy.

I bet extra security measures go in effect for all courthouses in the nation asap. Still it is unbelieveable that this could happen in a courthouse where it is loaded with cops. Not to hate on women or anything, but they should never let ANY woman take on the sole responsiblity of escorting any man that could overpower a woman, steal her gun and murder 3 people within minutes.

Police: Customs agent killed as manhunt continues

ATLANTA - Police searching for a man suspected of a courthouse triple-slaying on Friday say a U.S. customs agent was discovered shot and killed in north Atlanta on Saturday morning.

Fulton County Police deputy Chief G.D. Miles said customs agents found one of their colleagues shot to death at about 8:30 a.m. Saturday morning near Lennox Road in north Atlanta.

The discovery comes as a massive manhunt continues for Brian Nichols, 33, who is suspected of shooting and killing the judge in his rape case and two others on Friday.

Stiles said the agent's blue pickup truck, semi-automatic pistol, badge and possibly his identification were stolen.

The incident occurred in the same general area where Nichols used to live.

"We dont' know if this is the same suspect," Stiles said. "Whoever is driving this pickup truck is a cop killer."

The pickup bears the Georgia tag number APG 6121, Miles said.

This reminds me of the killing spree that guy went on a few years ago, killing fashion designer Versace and others.

They have to find this nut. It's only going to get worse.

Officials have surrounded an apartment complex in Northeast Atlanta... authorities believe the suspect is inside!!

ATLANTA - Courthouse slayings suspect Brian Nichols was apprehended at a suburban Atlanta apartment complex Saturday nearly 26 hours after a judge and two others were shot to death at a downtown courthouse, said an officer with the Atlanta Police Department.


"He is in custody," said Sgt. Terry Joyner.

The arrest was made after Nichols was cornered at the complex, said another officer who spoke on condition of anonymity.

A black sports utility vehicle, escorted by multiple police cars with lights flashing and sirens on, left the complex at about 11:45 a.m. A crowd of people across the street began cheering as the motorcade passed.

Earlier Saturday, a U.S. customs agent was discovered shot to death in north Atlanta, and his blue pickup truck, pistol and badge were missing.

The body of agent David Wilhelm was found near Lennox Square Mall, an area where the suspect used to live, Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials told NBC News.

The agent's missing vehicle was a 1997 blue Chevy pickup with Georgia license plate: APG-6121, WXIA TV reported. The same truck was apparently found at the scene where Nichols was apprehended, CNN reported.

No further information regarding the arrest was immediately available.

Atlanta police spokesman John Quigley said early Saturday that authorities were reviewing surveillance tapes "to see what leads we can develop from that." One of those tapes came from CNN security cameras in the parking garage where the carjacking took place.

The photos show a black man resembling Nichols donning a jacket that CNN said belonged to Atlanta Journal-Constitution reporter Don O'Briant.

Nichols beat O'Briant and demanded his car after fleeing the courthouse, where he fatally shot a judge, a court reporter and deputy sheriff with a gun he stole from another deputy sheriff, Cynthia Hall. She remained in critical condition Saturday.

Living in Georgia, I can't say how relieved I am that they've caught him. Well, I'd be relieved regardless of what state this happened in, but it's so much scarier not knowing if he's going to shoot my friends or family next...

I say they give him the death penalty asap...

I saw her in an interview, and she said she plans to visit him in jail. I can't relate to that, but to each their own I guess. She did a great job of talking him down which probably prevented more senseless deaths. She's lucky to be alive herself.
