There are evenings when I'm more interested in watching reruns of Andy Griffith and Leave it to Beaver than the current shows that are on TV.
Those are classic shows that have stood the test of time. Then I wonder if there are any shows today that I'll still want to see in 30 or 40 years. What do you think? What shows are on today that you think will be considered classics in the future?

nothing on now will every be considerd a classic. Many shows on now stink. its not on anymore but Drew Carey Show maybe, but that is it

Will & Grace will be a classic that will live on in syndication forever.

As will Everybody Loves Raymond and The King of Queens.


I'd say The Simpsons too.... but it seems that will just live on forever, period.

I've been saying this forever.
The old sitcoms are WAY better than the new crap.Better written and more entertaining.Thats why my favourite cable tv channel is TV1 (Classic Tv) Give me Whos The Boss over Friends anyday-just one example.

Will & Grace (even though I really don't like it, that much)

I think the show from the 50 to 80 are far better show than the current shows:I Love Lucy,The Honeymooners,The Andy Griffith Show,I Dream of Jeannie,Gilligan's island,The Partridge Family,The Mary Tyler Moore Show,Happy Days,Laverne&Shirley,Three's Compagny,The Cosby Show,The Golden Girls.

I really don't even need to answer this question. Myself, it's really not even a comparassion.

Personally I think how "classic" a show is depends a lot on how much exposure you get to it. When I was a kid (80s), the local TV stations (we didn't have cable) reran a lot of the old 50s and 60s sitcoms (Lucy, Andy, Beaver, Bewitched, Beverly Hillbillies). Since these shows got a lot of airplay back then, people have gotten attached to them and are still willing to watch them today. (Like how when every station would run It's a Wonderful Life nonstop at Christmas time because they didn't have to pay royalties? Now everyone considers it a Christmas classic even though it didn't do that well originally and nowadays you can see it only once or twice at Christmas.)

Shows that debuted from about 1985 on that will become classics someday IMO (if they aren't considered classics already):

* Everybody Loves Raymond
* Friends
* Frasier
* Married With Children
* That '70s Show
* King of the Hill
* South Park
* The Simpsons

I'd rather watch The Jeffersons, Family Matters, or Roseanne over most current sitcoms. They just don't make them like they used to.

I Used to take the old sitcoms over everything, But the past year or so I've been alot more attracted to Newer (Late 80's-Present) Sitcoms.

They're Alot funnier nowadays, And easier to relate to...

As enjoyable as A Show Like The Andy Griffith Show can be sometimes, I Can't relate to it at ALL. I Also don't think I Laughed out loud at it once.

I think the only show that is recent that is a classic is Friends and Everybody Loves Raymond. Other than those I don't like anything else except classic tv.Also Spin City.
