strange how Warner took nine months between 1 and 2, and only three between 2 and 3. I blind-bought season 1 used and while I liked the camp of it, the WW2 setting really didn't appeal to me, are the second and third seasons, set in the 70's instead of the 40's, better?

When you buy season 3, you get the pilot episode of Shazam.

I think it's because they wanted to release WW, Lois and Clark and The Adventures of Superman all on the same day.

Some fans have a very strong preference towards the ABC Years and the 1940s period setting, while others have a strong preference towards the CBS Years and the then-contemporary setting.

The ABC Years were much truer to Wonder Woman's comic book origins, and have a lightheartedness which many fans (including myself) find very appealling. The ABC Years are, in my opinion, when Lynda was best in the role. Her acting improved in the CBS seasons, but in the early episodes, she had an amazing way of projecting both gentleness and strength.

The CBS Years feature more varied storylines (instead of Nazis every week), and Wonder Woman is a more powerful character. The special effects improved as well. But Wonder Woman also becomes more no-nonsense, personality-wise, and while the character is still interesting, she loses some of the qualities that originally made her so unique. In my opinion.

Overall, I'd say the First and Third seasons are the best... with my personal preference leaning more towards the First season. But I highly recommend collecting all three seasons. :)
