I've never seen the series, but I am interested in checking it out. I've recently become a fan of L&O, and all the crossovers are making me interested.

Seems like I'm the only Homicide fan here, so probably no one will vouch for my opinion, but it's a great show. It's tough to say that it's similar to Law & Order, or that even if you like L&O you'd like Homicide. If you ever sample it, just give it a few episodes to truly appreciate it.

Same here, for the most part. A show like Homicide, even though Andre Braugher (a big part of the show) ended up leaving before the final season, it's still such a great show throughout that I'd want the entire series.

Something like All In The Family, for me, won't be a show where I'd get all seasons (if they're even released) because later seasons don't hold up to earlier ones, I know I won't be interested enough to but them all. But then again, even though I knew I wouldn't be crazy about season 1 of SBTB: The New Class, I wanted it in my collection, along with all of the following seasons.

I guess it just depends on the show.

I think The Andy Griffith Show is the only series that I plan on not buying every season of. It completely sucked once Don Knotts left and it went to color.

I didn't like Tony. And Maria ended up staying on the show for five seasons. Things like that annoy me. I believe California Dreams lasted five years also and they were in high school the whole time.

I wonder if Paramount would consider releasing all of the episodes from the last three seasons where Don Knotts guest starred in a "best of" type volume. That way fans of Barney will be able to own all of his episodes.

I ordered it off of Amazon. We mailed the check this morning. So hopefully soon. I got the first season pretty quickly after I paid them.

I'm gonna pre-order the third season since it'll probably be the same situation all the way through the series.

I went by Target today and they only had one copy of it left, marked at 27.99. Couldn't resist - very cool!

I got I Love Lucy season 3 yesterday, I'll get season 2 eventually, and season 1 when the reissued cheaper set comes out in May.

Very impressed with the extras, but in a way also disapointing because it shows what Paramount is capable of putting on a DVD, yet they don't on most.

I was going to buy that today too. Maybe I'll get it tomorrow. Saw it advertised at Target for under $40, don't know if it'll ever be cheaper. I plan on getting seasons 1 and 4 when they come out, on the way to collecting the entire series.

I haven't watched a lot of TV lately. I've been busy with school and work, and trying to find a job for the summer so I can tell the people I worked for last year -- "I can't, I have a job." Because my summer job last year sucked. 40 hour week for minimum wage.

I finished my SAT application, so I have that out of the way. Nothing much is on tonight.... I think I'll try and finish Fat Albert -- I flew through the first disc. (such short episodes, counting in FF the themesong)

It's great. No special features, but a nice booklet with an article about the show, in addition to lyrics for every song on the bonus disc.
It's a great show.... and it reassures my statement that Bill Cosby is the funniest man alive. He's just a brilliant.

Normally, I would've boughten both of those today. But I have to save money for Prom and I'm slowing down with the DVDs I buy.

I don't plan on buying anything until the 4-12, when "All in the Family - Season 4" and "The Jeffersons - Season 3" are released.

I would have also gotten "The Bob Newhart Show - Season 1".... but that should be coming free in the mail.

So this means, about three weeks without any new DVDs. I guess this works, I have a lot of stuff I need to finish.

I do and I don't like the box for MSW. I like the outer case because it really does look like a leather bound book. However, Universal should've done 6 slimcases instead of 3 movie cases with 3 double-sided discs if they wanted to make it so bulky.

I bought Night Court season 1 yesterday, only $21 at Wal-Mart

However, the transfer is so bad that it's almost unwatchable, it is absolutely the worst transfer I've seen. I know the first season was shot on VIDEO 21 years ago, but... the first season of Diff'rent Strokes was shot on video 26-27 years ago and is far more pleasing to the eye. Plus the audio sounds like it was transferred from a VHS recording of the series when it originally aired on NBC in early 1984

I just hope future seasons look better, I really only want the first four or five seasons anyways.

I'm betting Universal is designing their sets that way so rental stores will be more likely to buy them. In the new bulky cases, they can just plop them on the wall at Blockbuster as if they were movies.

Whereas slimcases and digipaks are difficult for rental stores to rent out.

I really liked CY when it first premiered, but it has declined in quality. The constant puking stopped being funny. But really, it started out great.

I never watched the show religiously so I guess that's why it didn't bother me. I always only watched on occasion but thought it was funny every time I saw it. I've been wanting to get the season 1 dvd set for months but haven't gotten around to it.

Very, very close to doing the same thing today. I checked out an episode guide earlier to see if I'd have interest in it, and I had it in my hands when I went to Target during lunch, but I didn't buy it. I wanted to try it out, but just didn't do it.

Couldn't buy Seinfeld because they were sold out, at least I assumed they were. The spot where they had the display was empty, but I noticed a guy behind me at the cashier's line had two copies.

They didn't even have Pete & Pete, so basically the only dvds I bought today were blank (dvd-r's), though I did receive the two latest Afterschool Specials releases today..

First I went to Best Buy. There, I got "Buddies: Complete Series". As well as "Seinfeld: Season 4" and "Scrubs: Season 1". Then I went to Suncoast where I got "Clarissa" and "Pete & Pete". Then I went to F.Y.E. and bought "Entourage: Season 1". I'm not in a hurry to get Golden Girls 2 since I haven't watched season 1 yet. As for Cheers, I went to all those stores and none of them had it. My parents are at Sam's Club now and they said if they find it there, they'd get it.

I better not have any trouble finding "NewsRadio" next week or I'm gonna cry (I meant that as a joke, but I really think I will) .

The thing that makes this DVD even more special is that there really isn't any NewsRadio merchandise. And the commentaries sound great. It's done by people I like, talking about a show I love.

The best part is that the show will be uncut. I have them (Season 1 and the first half of 2) on tape from NBC. The tape is almost worn out and one episode "The Shrink" has the election results in it. When I taped the show on MVC (UPN) and A&E, the first season was always so cut up that I really couldn't watch them. I'm glad that the newer fans of the show will be able to see the full episodes and not the syndicate edits.

I've updated my list to include non-season sets. I'll try to keep up on the list. I know alot of the time, I don't feel like adding the new DVDs to the list for a while. I'm just lazy. That's why I couldn't keep up with my thread of the upcoming DVDs. I was too lazy to add the new ones every day. I mean well though. :)

I purchased "NewsRadio" on DVD! I couldn't sleep the night before (I'm on vacation) so I stayed up all night as well as all day. I can't drive, so I had to wait for my sister to get out of school and pick me up. I went to Best Buy, got the DVD (Along with Andy Griffith and Raymond Finale) went home and watched it. Around 5:00 I took a nap. I had gotten a headache from staying awake. Anyways, I woke up at 6:43 or something like that. I got up and started watching the DVD again. I forgot to mention. This goes to anyone who hasn't seen "NewsRadio", the last episode on the set "The Injury" was actually shot early in the second season. It didn't air until after season three. So the episode titled "Led Zeppelin II" is the actual season finale. I just wanted to let you know that. Actually I was worried that they were gonna release that episode with the season three set. I'm glad they chose to include it in this one.

I purchased "NewsRadio" on DVD! I couldn't sleep the night before (I'm on vacation) so I stayed up all night as well as all day. I can't drive, so I had to wait for my sister to get out of school and pick me up. I went to Best Buy, got the DVD (Along with Andy Griffith and Raymond Finale) went home and watched it. Around 5:00 I took a nap. I had gotten a headache from staying awake. Anyways, I woke up at 6:43 or something like that. I got up and started watching the DVD again. I got a little worried at the store. I went over to the "New Releases" section and it wasn't there. A girl who worked there came over to me and asked if I was looking for anything, and I said I wanted "NewsRadio". I was so relieved when she said "Oh" and started walking down to another isle.

I purposely didn't watch my tapes of the first two seasons, so that they would be fresh on the DVD. So it was great to see those episodes again.

As for "Chappelle's Show", I will get it someday. Right now, I'm not into that show. I was when it first aired, though.

I'm thinking (just thinking) about quitting my DVD collection. I'd still buy the shows I like, I just wouldn't try to get every single sitcom DVD made. If I do decide to quit my collection, I'll probably get rid of the ones I own now that I either don't like or don't watch (there is a difference). It was 29.99 there too...:( Soooooo...I had to wander over to Suncoast and I FINALLY found the B&W version... 32.99. Not too shabby. It came out to be 34.97.

Anybody that has Mary Tyler Moore - 1st Season on DVD, is it captioned? The second season coming out later this month has English subtitles in it, so I plan to pick it up in August. I actually want to get both S1 and S2 at the same time, but I can never get a straight answer from Amazon, eBay or DDD. I remember I checked out the DVD set in stores a long time ago but I forgot. :o

Last week, the employee at Suncoast convinced me to reserve a copy. I have trouble with confrontations, so I said "okay." It's a good thing I did, because my copy was the only one they had there at the time. Of course, I could have gone somewhere else, but I can't drive and it's not easy convincing my sister or mom (whoever's the driver) to go to more than one store.

I'm glad I'm finally getting the chance to watch the rest of the Sharona episodes. I purposely avoided the marathon yesterday, since I wanted to watch them for the first time on DVD.

I saw all the Sharona episodes that season, but missed most of the Natalie episodes. Mainly because I still think of Traylor Howard as that hot chick from Boston Common. Now that I've gotten over that, I can't wait to see.

Yeah. I just go and get it. If it's a rare title or something, I'd reserve it, but I figured they'd have "Monk" there.

Yeah FYE rocks...i spend at least $30 everytime and end up with a $10 off coupon on any perchase.....

I usually buy my DVDs from Sam's Club, FYE, Best Buy, or Blockbuster. FYE has the best variety and prices (I got ER: Season 3 for $30), but it's a half-hour away, but it's worth the drive.

I headed straight to Target in hopes of picking up Hunter - Season 2, but would you believe they didn't have ANY in stock?! I checked the new DVDs area...Nope, no shelf space reserved for Hunter. In preparation for Season 2 of Mary Tyler Moore coming out on 7/26, I brought Season 1 (thanks to BuffySlayer for confirming the captioning feature on the S1 set!). I'm only going to have enough $ at the end of this month so it doesn't matter now if I get either Brady Bunch S2 or MTM S2. :)

Funny thing...I was inspecting the contents of my MTM S1 set as I always do whenever I get a new set. You know how a lot of sets now have promotions in them, blah blah...Well I pulled a few out and there was one for MTM S2, but when I looked at it, it said MTM S2 was coming out in March 2003! Is that true...Was it originally slated to come out 2 years ago?

I can't wait until next week when Brady Bunch S2 comes out. It seems like it's been ages since there's been a Tuesday that I went to a store and bought a tv dvd the day it comes out. It's making me itch.

It's been months for me. The last DVDs I bought the day they came out were Cheers - Season 5, Seinfeld - Season 4, and Scrubs - Season 1. That was May 17th.


Since then I bought Chappelle's Show - Season 2, but that was last week and only because I had store credit.


Next week I'm starting up again though, I'll be getting The Brady Bunch - Season 2 along with Mary Tyler Moore - Season 2.

Also, I believe "Saved by the Bell" only had four seasons. Lions Gate seems to count the summer episodes, along with the out of school episodes as a fourth season. However, I just went along with it, saying there are five seasons. But only for this list. Normally I'd say there are four seasons.

I'd been considering it, so now may be the right time for me. Sometimes it's best to hold out. Fox especially has been known to price drop movie and tv dvds.

Titus (Seasons 1 & 2) - I have never seen this show before, but had heard good things about it. I've only seen the first two episodes, and quite enjoyed it. Too bad, it only lasted 2 and a half seasons.

Got the Brady Bunch S2 but not the Bob Newhart Show, damn Target didn't have it. I'm still waiting for MTM.

I'm kinda looking forward to getting 3rd Rock in the mail, I haven't watched it since it's original run but remember liking the early seasons a lot. I love Jane Curtin and John Lithgow, they were a great onscreen couple but they never really got the buzz that Niles/Daphne or Ross/Rachel got, probably because both actors were over 50.

I am curious if season 2 (coming in October) will have the finale presented in 3D like it originally aired. I remember them giving away 3D glasses to coincide with the episiode in magazines and everything, I probably still have them somewhere.

Added the pilot episode of Over There. It premieres tonight on FX and I'd recommend you guys sample it. Parts of it is graphic but it looks like the start of a pretty good series.

Today I got Newsradio - Seasons 1&2 in the mail, over two months later than release date. Holy **** TVAdam, you weren't lying.... this show is ****ing hilarious. I just finished the fifth episode. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite shows, ever.

I'd be tempted to get it free with my Sonycard points but they're not offering NewsRadio. I'm torn between completing my Sanford & Son collection or maybe getting Rescue Me, The Nanny or Seinfeld 4.

I'm not going to be getting anything released this coming month, so I added another one to my list that's been out for a while. That would be Dynasty - Season 1, a blind buy for me, but I'm very certain I'll enjoy it. Another reason I brought it was because one of my fave actresses, Stepfanie Kramer (in my avatar), is in the three-parter pilot AND another episode. :cheer:

soooooooo, has anyone bought Cosby yet? Is there some stroke of luck that Urbanworks fixed things between the review copies that went out a month ago and the store copies that come out today? If by some way, the episodes are complete, I will definately buy it in the next few days.

I'm glad you like it. I've been waiting to see when you got it and somehow I skipped over this post. I was going back to make sure I had updated my DVD list, and I glimpsed yours and saw "NewsRadio" on it, and then searched for a post where you said you got it.

Of the first five episodes, my favorite is probably "Smoking". Bill and Dave shouting at Matthew was hilarious. But of course there really wasn't a bad episode in all the first two seasons.

I didn't purchase this, but I went to Suncoast today and saw The Cosby Show there. I looked for the total runtime on the box and it was 575 minutes -- different than in the review that Seth did, where he put down 528 minutes as the runtime.

So apparently you guys got the review copy...the retail version has 575. Amazon, DVDPlanet and the other websites I've been to confirm it as well.

Seth mentioned at one point in the review that the runtime was reported to be 575 minutes, so it may not necessarily be that length even though that's what it says on the package. It'd be cool if someone who voted last week that they'd buy it would post a comment on it to confirm the runtimes but I guess they're scared to admit they bought it??

seems like Lucy is a title they don't seem to have problems selling early. I remember seeing season 4 at FYE a week before street back in April

Not quite. I haven't been home very much lately, been kind of busy. I'm about half way through the second disc. Still funny as hell, but I think I prefer Season 1.

Yeah, I like season two, but there's just something special about the first seven episodes.

A great little scene was in "Big Day" where an angry Matthew grabs a tissue and crumbles it up and throws in on Dave's desk. Dave replies "I don't think Mr. James is the kind of man who tolerates this kind of outburst." A lot of the Dave lines don't seem funny when I type them up, but the way he delivers them makes them funny.

"In Through the Out Door" is probably my favorite second season episode. Matthew and Joe were great in that one. And Bill and Dave's scenes together were hilarious. Dave: "This is starting to resemble a scene from Fame." Bill: "You want fame, it starts right here."
