My favorite songs by them are Shining Star, We Never Danced To A Love Song, I Miss You. Gerald Alston who was the lead singer of the group has a nice singin voice.

I saw the Manhattans in concert last summer and they still got it! They sang all their hits and Gerald Alston even sang his solo hit "Slow Motion" from 1990.

The "Kinda" is a bit tacky, but that's what it's titled.

I love the Manhattans. I also love the Stylistics. I am a huge fan of that music. I love the PBS special they had with the 70's groups. I had friends calling me and telling me "DO you remember the old times?"

I love Shining Star but that's all I know unless there's a song I like but I don't know it's them. I also love the commercial that used to play that song.

You're right, Isiahthomas! The Manhattans are the best soul grouop ever. I like the songs "Kiss and Say Goodbye", "Shining Star" and those other ones. I have the record called "It Feels So Good" featuring the songs "We Never Danced to a Love Song", "I Kinda Miss You" and "It Feels So Good (To Be Loved So Bad)". I used to have a record called "After Midnight" I remember the album back when I was a kid in Puerto Rico, but now I lost it. I also used to have the cassette of "After Midnight", I also lost it. It was a great album. It also has medley of two songs that were from the early 70's from its Deluxe years "If My Lonely Heart Could Speak" along with "One Life to Live", "Girl of My Dreams", "Cloudy With a Chance of Tears", "It's Not the Same", "I'll Never Run Away From Love Again" and the song as I said "Shining Star" is from the album "After Midnight". I used to like other early Manhattans' songs from its Carnival years back in the 60's "Follow Your Heart" was one of them.

Isiah, you got any of their music? They are one of the best groups who I don't have.

I like Follow Your Heart and I Need You from the 60's and most of the 70's output. I also saw them on the PBS special! I love those specials! Did you know that Gerald Alston's big sister was the lead singer of the 60's girl group The Shirelles? She was a hottie in her day and not bad looking now! :)

The Manhattans' most recent album Even Now came out in late 2001 and IMO was very enjoyable. Unlike other oldies r&b acts who cut a new record this one was enjoyable. Turn Out the Stars and Nites Like This both got airplay on the urban adult contemporary format. Gerald Alston is a very expressive singer who has good chemistry with the bass singer Blue Lovett. The other guys aren't in the group anymore but they filled out the sound with backup vocalists (including at least one female), but they use the same backup singers on all the songs so the album has a consistent quality to it. Had the grammies not changed the traditional r&B category from an album to an individual performance award they would have had a good shot at winning it for 2002.
