View Full Version : Full House Reunion? John thinks not...
Coory 03-08-2005, 11:47 PM From Katherine Moore: I know I'm going to sound like a huge dork, but is there any chance of a Full House reunion?
Negative. Well, you know, I am not going to be the guy that sits and bags on his '80s show. Full House was a double-edged sword. It was the best time of my life. It afforded me great success. I was able to take my family around the world. They had a great time with it. I had a great time with it. But it was a specific kind of show that has taken me many years to get away from that guy.
And I don't blame people, because it's on 10 times a day, and like I said, I've been doing stuff under the radar, so a lot of people haven't seen some of the new things that I've been doing, so they still think of me as that guy. I just need to show them that I can do more, and that's what I'm doing now. To do a reunion would kind of be like stepping back. I wouldn't mind doing what the Happy Days people did...kinda sit around and talk about it. That I would love.

Well I guess that scraps that idea.I normally dont have a problem with John. But he seems to be a jerk about doing a reuion. That bothers me a little. And this kinda backs up the theory he quit the show. And from the looks of it a reunion isnt gonna heppe. Atleast anytime soon. :(
nightingale 03-09-2005, 02:28 PM man that bites,
why is john so agianst it all of a sudden, i mean really, obviously, he enjoyed being uncle jesse enough. :(
hughpuppies 03-09-2005, 02:35 PM Not trying to defend John here, but you people don't do what you don't want to do. Why should he have to do something he doesn't feel comfortable doing? I see you people think he should do it all because you want a Full House Reunion. Is that being kind of selfish?
Let the guy live his life the way he wants, if he wants to get way from always being reminded of being Uncle Jesse then so be it.
What is kind of rude is you people thinking he is a jerk for not wanting to be reminded of being Uncle Jesse.
Also don't come back with the excuse Full House is what made him famous. He already mentioned that in that article.
swedeace 03-09-2005, 04:00 PM Well, it is a little disappointing. However, I repect John's decision. At least he stated he wouldn't mind sitting around and talking about the show. That's something, at least.
If...and I mean... "if" they happen to do a FH reunion, they can always change the script to not include John. One example might be to just have a storyline where "Jesse" is visiting a sick relative or something like that. I mean in The Facts of Life, they didn't have the Nancy McKeon in it, so it's possible.
troopoleon8897 03-09-2005, 04:35 PM I think he is just sick of people referring to him as uncle jesse so he wants people to realize that hes not uncle jess hes john stamos and thats just a character that he played i think if his new show does really good then maybe we will see a reunion but i think if it bombs we wont have achance anytime soon
Mr. Television 03-09-2005, 05:22 PM I don't see whats wrong with what he said. He didn't trash the show and even said he might do a reunion if its done the way Happy Days did theirs. Its been a decade since FH left the air and he's still being rederred to as Uncle Jessie so I think he wants to distance himself a little from that character.
David 03-09-2005, 06:05 PM I don't get what John's big deal with the whole "stepping away from Full House" thing is. Heck, it helped him a lot, why not be proud of it? And I don't think it's something he'll have a hard time stepping away from. I mean.. he's always going to be remembered as that, so nothing will really change that. He's lucky he isn't typecasted like Jaleel White as Steve Urkel, he'll never be able to step away from that.

Yep he's trying not to be typecast his whole career as "Uncle Jesse" it's hard to break typecasting with something like that.
Full House made him a household name, but he wouldnt have gotten Full House if he hadn't been on General Hospital.
Just throwing that in :)
hughpuppies 03-09-2005, 06:35 PM He was also on a sitcom a year before Full House came out called You Again? that bomb badly that year and was not renewed. Starring himself and Jack Klugman.

I used to watch that show. It was actually pretty funny. Its to bad it didn't last longer but then again if it had John wouldn't have been on Full House. He was also on a 1984 sitcom called Dreams that tried to take advantage of the new MTV craze at that time and it also bombed.
DukeDevils9192 03-09-2005, 10:07 PM What could a reunion possibly do for the show anyway? I know it didn't get a true finale, but I think Joey's line, "Just like we always do..." was pretty definitive of the series and left us with that warm-feeling that we needed to go out on.
I know it'd be nice to see where the characters are now, but I think, in some ways, it'd be depressing...we grew up loving them in that house together, but if they're still there, it's not cute--it's sad. And, if they've moved out, it's not even the same show anymore.
I'd love to see them sit around talk about the show, ala Married With Children, 90210, and Happy Days. I've never heard them talk about the show, except to say that it's stigma won't go away, so I'd like to hear what they have to say.
Amy340 03-10-2005, 01:13 AM I think some of you are misinterpreting what he said about a reunion. He said he WON'T do a reunion movie (ie like the Growing Pains or Facts Of Life one) but WOULD do a sit around and talk reunion, like the recent Happy Days Reunion special, in fact if you read what he said, he said he would love that. That would still be a reunion, it doesn't have to be a movie. Do you really think he's the only cast member opposed to doing a movie reunion? Do you think Mary-Kate and Ashley would be jumping at the opportunity? There was nothing wrong with what he said here, I think a reunion special of the cast sitting around and talking and reminiscing would be great to see someday.
He said a lot of people only see him as Uncle Jesse, which is true. He has NEVER been ashamed of the show or it's success, he says that in this chat, he's always been VERY proud of the show--reread the transcript. I've known the guy for many years and have been with him when people have called him Uncle Jesse, he's not offended at all, actually he just laughs, same for if people call him Blackie (which he still gets, 23 yrs after he started on GH). A lot of people probably don't realize all he's done in the last 10 yrs--he says that in the chat too, unless you really follow his career, your probably not aware of what he's done (3 Broadway shows for example). I've seen him sign the Rockin' Jesse Full House doll, he just makes a joke about it, nothing bad. You have to see where he's coming from, he doesn't want to be typecast, which is understandable. A lot of actors/actresses probably will the same way. People always misinterpret stuff he says. He didn't "quit" Full House, he isn't the reason Full House ended, yet people want to blame him, when it's not true at all. He is also FAR from a jerk, he is actually the nicest, sweetest, most down to earth person you could ever meet.
The network did have the idea for a reunion 5, 6 yrs ago, BTW. One of the reasons it wasn't done is because it was too hard to gather everyone together, too many schedules to coordinate and they wouldn't do it without full cast cooperation. So quit complaining about a reunion just because you want to see one, if it happens someday, it does, if it doesn't, it doesn't. There was that one on America's Funniest Home Videos in 1997. Funny how everyone bags on John and misinterprets what he said in this chat, but don't complain about the Olsens not being at the AFV one...

excuse me, you are going WAY far from what i was getting at! i was saying that it is sad that he all of a sudden doesn't like uncle jesse, and that if he enjoyed doing it enough then what's thje problem with a reunion. i wasn't trying to say that he should be forced into doing it, i wuold never think that of my johnny baby!
Coory 03-11-2005, 12:35 AM Yea I dont get if he liked doing it so much why he couldnt do it one last time. Not like it would give him a heart attack. And anyways money talks. Everybody knows that if ABC offered the right amount he would be the first in line to do a reunion.

Out of your list I used to watch Day By Day, Harper Valley, Spencer, The Powers That Be and The Bad New Bears. They were all good shows that should have lasted longer.
