yes the girl on the left is justine bateman and the one on the right is maybe some girl from "the facts of life" i think.

I think your first guess was right SpinCT and the book was wrong. To me it looks like Nancy McKeon from Facts of Life. She co-starred with MJF in both High School USA and Poison Ivy, and was his off screen girlfriend in this period. I also don't think it would be a fan because this was a celebrity softball match for charity and she's wearing the t-shirt, cap and 'hello' sticker that presumably only the celebs would be wearing.
