For anyone who is a fan of the character of Frasier Crane from Cheers and Frasier, do you think Alex is similar to Frasier. Obviously, Frasier doesn't love money the way Alex does, but when you look at them both, they both share several character traits. They're both very intelligent, they can be somewhat pompous and arrogant, and when it comes down to it, they love their families and stick by them.

What does everyone else think? Also, do you think Frasier and Alex would get on if they met each other? I think they might clas at first - i.e. Frasier might see Alex as a cocky young upstart - but I think they'd respect each other and recognise each other's intellect and talents.

I've only watched a few episodes of Frasier, but I'm a huge Cheers fan, so I'll base this on his character in Cheers (I don't know if it changed much in Frasier or what). I've never compared them before, but I guess there are some similarities, such as their intelligence and pompousness as you said. As for their families, there's not much of that for Frasier on Cheers, so I'm not sure.

If they met, I can't see how well they would get along. Frasier seems a bit more...crazy, I guess (at least in season 4, which I'm in the process of watching currently). Also, Frasier is more of an Englsh/psychology/right-brained person while Alex seems to be more left-brained and math-oriented (or so it seems because of his money obsession). They both, especially Frasier, seem a little cold to others in terms of making new friends. I think I'd have to watch the show Frasier to be able to decide fully, but I can't picture them becoming very good friends.

I see what you mean; there are some differences between the two of them. I haven't seen that many episodes of Family Ties, since I'm in England, where it's no longer on the air - I managed to get the entire third season copied onto video, and I've seen about twenty episodes from holidays in America - but from what I've seen, Alex seems to be very well-spoken, and good with words, so he could be right-brained as well as left-brained.

I'd recommend watching some more episodes of Frasier. I think his character is a little different than it was in Cheers; not by a huge amount, but he's in an entirely different environment, so he naturally changes a little - and also the fact that the show revolves around him has something to do with it. I certainly think if they met that he and Alex would clash over certain things, but I think in the long run they'd establish a "comfortable" relationship, even if they weren't exactly best buddies. I think Alex would be more likely to become friendly with Frasier than with, say, Martin, anyhow.

They are alike in some ways. They both are good with words, both get paranoid easily. They both more so Alex think about money. They both are not that well athletic, alex is more althletic then fraizer, also they both seem to have a hard time making friends, and they both stick up for their family while trying not to show it to others. They both babbled on about things no has a clue about. They both studied alot.

Differences. Alex thinks alot of politics while fraizer doesn't. Fraizer thinks more on the line of famous poets, writers, and other psycologists. Alex did alot more things then Fraizer did when growing up, like lead sort of a normal child hood doing child hood things besides watching the Mcnare-whatever the other guys name was report on Sunday mornings.

Fraizer didn't do to many childhood things most do, like play ball, play kid games, like tag, hide and seek, he spent his time reading and studying.

Alex knew what others were talking about so he though he knew all the answers so he thought what he said to people was the answer where as Fraizer knew what he was talking about but never did understand what others were talkng about.

I'm not sure. I guess in some ways perhaps they are similar. Of course Frasier was older than Alex.

I guess we could also ask the question of do you think Niles and Alex are similar?

He was more laid-back than Niles, but I personally don't think Frasier was very laid-back himself. He could be uptight and there were a number of occasions when he became extremely angry (I think it was usually justified in some way, but even so, I don't see him as being a very laid-back person.)

Now this is an interesting question. I never thought about comparing Alex P Keaton and Frasier Crane... or Niles for that matter. It's been much too long since I've watched Family Ties, so I think I'm going to do some 'research" on the subject. And who knows... Might even inspire me to write a Frasier/Family Ties crossover!

Well, considering how well your last Fraiser crossover turned out, I think it would be very interesting to read! As for the Alex/Frasier comparison, I do see it somewhat. Both are extremely intelligent, sometimes too much for their own good. And they both like to give unsolicited advice, don't they? LOL! Esp. to their younger siblings. Yeah, I'm beginning to see where a crossover would work. Alex could give Frasier financial advice! ;)
