View Full Version : Bruce on Letterman
kismet 03-05-2005, 09:11 AM He was on last night.
I guess it's really official now. He said that his career will be over (paraphrased) when he is the center square on Hollywood Squares AND when he does the Moonlighting Reunion Show. So I don't think we will ever see anything Moonlighting-related in the near future. He even looked at the camera and put his forefingers in an X or + position when speaking about the reunion, so there were no doubts about it.
He came out in a bright orange suit (I guess similar to the fabric gates that were in Central Park for the past several weeks). It actually hurt my eyes to look at him.
He mentioned BruceWillis.com as the place to buy his "sex tapes". That part was pretty funny.
They talked very little about Hostage, but they did show an excellent clip from the movie.
He mentioned Las Vegas and his upcoming appearances. It was obvious to the viewer that this show was taped earlier. Both Letterman and BW didn't even try to hide the fact that the show was taped several days in advance; that surprised me.
BW said that his girlfriend was in the Green Room. It was actually BW dressed up as a French woman in a bright orange wig. He does not make a good looking woman. When I saw that clip, I immediately thought of Cybill's hair disaster in London. I don't know if that had anything to do with last night's clip, but it made me really uncomfortable.
He mentioned his upcoming birthday and Letterman brought up that it was going to be a big one. BW said he will be 50 years old. I'm not surprised at his age but I was surprised that he would talk about it so openly. I know older male actors are more accepted, but I would think his manager would try to have him underplay his age.
It was a good interview - BW and Letterman are a good team.
CindyK 03-05-2005, 11:36 AM Kismet
BW was pretty darn funny last night to me. The running joke concerned The Gates in NYC (you know that art thing in Central Park by Cristo & Jeanne-Claude with the saffron drapes) Bruce was wearing a suit made supposedly (not really) out of one of the drapes. And then the BW in drag (girlfriend) was supposed to resemble the French artist Jeanne-Claude who along with her partner created The Gates. The saffron drapes: saffron suit of Bruce: saffron-colored hair of Jeanne Claude. Or at least a reasonable facsimile. Letterman has been ragging on The Gates for several weeks now, so Bruce just joined in the party with his joking.
kismet 03-05-2005, 11:40 AM Added thoughts:
His French girlfriend's name was Jean-Claude!
Here is info on his authorized sex tapes:
Volume 1 -- Passion of the Bruce
Volume 2 -- Die Hard With A Flight Attendant
Volume 3 -- SpongeBruce NoPants
Volume 4 -- Sideways :D
Plus, hilarious sex bloopers are also included.
I like it when BW comes on Letterman because Bruce is always prepared to entertain the audience. I'm sure BW is one of Letterman's favorite guests because he even makes Letterman laugh, and it takes a load off Dave's shoulders because Bruce is so entertaining.
kismet 03-05-2005, 11:45 AM Cindy, I had no idea about the artist etc. I'm glad you filled me in because I was looking at it from a limited point of view. Now I get it. When I first saw the hair disaster, the Cybill hairdo came immediately to my mind. Thanks.
It was a funny interview. BW is always so prepared to entertain that it makes for great TV.

Speaking of the Cybill hairdo, I was chatting with a couple of the boys in my formclass the other day during registration. We were talking about the books that we had recently read and I said that I had just read Cybill's book. Lloyd, who's a really camp 15 year old exclaimed 'I saw her on GMTV - she was such a MESS!!!'

Dutchie 03-05-2005, 12:45 PM a friend of mine said she saw Cybill on tv with that hairdo. NOW WHY DID I MISS THAT!?!?! LOL :D
gypsygem81 03-05-2005, 12:53 PM I missed it too. Does anyone know of any clips or pictures of it?

Tazmania 03-05-2005, 03:51 PM Gem there are pics of that show on Cybill.com.
Obviously people are STILL talking about that stunt Cyb pulled.
I must say I really love the way she stirred things up!!
Tazmania 03-05-2005, 03:54 PM :( Oh and I'm really sad about Bruce being sooooo negative on a reunion.
He keeps repeating it every time and I think we all know now what he means.
I mean it's fine that he doesn't want a reunion but to say that once should be enough!
Anyway I still love him....

I can't find them on Cybill.com Taz, do you know if they're still there?
Sorry to hijack a BW thread with talk on Cybill!

I agree. Bruce always tries to do some kind of bit whenever he's on, and that's pretty rare nowadays that stars come on and add some kind of pre- taped joke.
One of his best appearances was when Letterman criticized him for looking very lathargic when he walk out on stage. Bruce wanted a "do over" and he came running back out in a t-shirt with a gun (his Die Hard costume) and started shooting some stunt guys who were attacking him. Very funny.

cheryl80 03-06-2005, 03:43 AM I know that there's people that want a Moonlighting Reunion, but there's also an awful lot of Moonlighting fans who do not want a reunion. And they have asked Bruce Willis not to do the reunion. (I don't know why--they don't want to be a spoiler for all of the Moonlighting I haven't seen.) I do know that the ones that have asked him not to do the reunion, are going to ask him to promote the DVDs when they come out.
CindyK 03-06-2005, 06:53 PM Cheryl80
I am not sure where you got your info from, but I am a member of the Moonlighting DVD campaign committee and I know I did want a reunion. There are some fans who are not big on the idea of a reunion based on how poor reunion shows usually turn out, but their opinon is not driving Bruce's decisions. It is Bruce Willis who is not interested. Bruce will always make his own mind up about what projects he will and will not do, and he has expressed on several occasions that he is not interested in a Reunion. After he said that once, that was enough for me to know not to ask about it again.
Bruce is interested in the DVD release of course, as is Cybill, Glenn and anyone associated with the series. This doesn't come from any fans opinions either. They all have their own opinions. How could they not be interested and in support of the DVD release? They are all very proud of the work they did then, and rightly so.
cheryl80 03-06-2005, 08:49 PM CindyK
Maybe I wasn't clear. I wrote that they said they asked him not to do a Reunion and that they are planning to ask him to promote the DVDs. I don't have anything to say about Bruce Willis because they weren't talking about him. They were talking about what they requested from him.
I should add, that I don't care either way. I'm having trouble finding time for episode 6. I asked Marla if she cared, and she doesn't. So were neutral.
CindyK 03-07-2005, 01:28 AM I am sorry Cheryl, I must be dense, but I do not understand your explanation. Who is the "they" you are referring to?
cheryl80 03-07-2005, 03:17 AM Some of the people in the Moonlighting Social Club.
The Moonlighting Social Club hasn't actually watched Moonlighting recently, because were watching The Amazing Race 7 and virtually everyone wants to wait until the DVDs come out. But in a lull in the conversation about The Amazing Race 7 (which is very, very good and I highly recommend) someone brought up the Moonlighting DVDs that are to come out sometime soon. And the conversation about Moonlighting lasted less than a minute. If there's any conversation and thoughts about Moonlighting from the Social Club, I thought I'd post it here. And that's the end of that story.
CindyK 03-08-2005, 12:09 AM Ok Thanks for explaining that. I was lost totally. Sorry to have questioned you...I just didn't know who you were talking about.
cheryl80 03-15-2005, 05:44 PM NBD (No Big Deal) CindyK-if it had bothered me I would have ignored you.
Sorry I can't discuss Bruce Willis, Cybill Shepherd or Glen Caron (spelling?)--
This is what I know about them:
Bruce Willis-I've seen some of his movies, some of them I liked and some of them I liked less. He works for the US government in foster care for children. From this I am of the opinion that he is a good man. He has some children of his own, who he apparently loves very much. I think he's single, but I'm not sure.
Cybill Sheperd-singer/actress/model--does kind of a take off of Mae West sometimes, and I think she does Maddie wonderfully. From her acting abilities, she is clearly a sensitive woman.
Glen Caron-writer, producer and I think he can be a really talented sometimes. And Marla has a crush on him.
So as you can see, I can't speak about them or for them like you can. But, if anyone in the Moonlighting Social Club says anything about them I'll post it here. I think that is highly unlikely though. It's more likely it would be about Moonlighting, and when that happens, I'll be sure and post it.
TheCursedRedBaron 03-28-2005, 02:30 PM Not a fan of the traditional idea of reunion, here. I wouldn't mind seeing a 1 hour special where the cast get together to talk about the show, that'd be cool. A scripted episode/film though? Nah.
Dutchie 03-28-2005, 03:25 PM hmm, yeah, that would be cool as well :)
Yes it would be. But it doesn't sound like it will ever happen. the DVD commentary shold be good though
Dutchie 04-01-2005, 06:48 AM http://www.moviehole.net/news/5362.html
check this out  I would rather not see a Moonlighting Movie than seeing those two playing my favorite characters
marla 04-01-2005, 05:51 PM an april fools joke hopefully?
oh well, at least he's a fan.
Definitely an April Fool's Day hoax. Check out the link within this link Moonlighting Movie AFD. (April Fool's Day!) Funny they would pick this of all things!
Dutchie 04-02-2005, 06:07 AM yeah, it's a hoax, sorry, the link didn't work for me so that's why I didn't know. Sorry for posting it...
