I'm thinking about buying this book off of ebay. What is this book about? I know it's about The Munsters, but what about them, exactly?

View Full Version : The Munsters by Stephen Cox Munsters#1 03-04-2005, 09:43 AM I'm thinking about buying this book off of ebay. What is this book about? I know it's about The Munsters, but what about them, exactly? dirtprod 03-04-2005, 01:07 PM Munsters#1; Just get it! Trust me! I bought a copy at a convention a few years back. I keep it on the shelf in the corner of the office. I refer to it often. Sometimes, just to read a few things... :) You'll love it! (Steve mailed me a couple of times. He was looking for a new publisher for an updated copy. I haven't heard from him in a while, so nothing to report, I guess.) My best, Dirt MunsterKoach.com (http://www.MunsterKoach.com) Laugh30 03-04-2005, 03:55 PM I bought the book a couple of years ago off Ebay and like dirtprod, I pick the book up often to browse through. The book covers all areas of the characters and the show, with alot of what the cast felt about doing the show. The picture I get of them from the book is that they really enjoyed the experience and the years they worked together. Munsters#1 03-04-2005, 04:37 PM I've seen the photo on ebay. It's a thin red book. Is that like both yours? dirtprod 03-04-2005, 05:51 PM Yes, red background on the cover and 174 pages. Lots of chapters, lots of black & white pictures. (Stephen said that a new version would also include a lot of color pictures.) I did a search on both Half.com and Amazon. I found copies from $60.00 and up. Some as high as $260.00. (I was thinking of getting a second copy, but I think it'll have to wait.) My suggestion to you is, get it! If you don't like it, re-sell it! :D My best, Dirt MunsterKoach.com (http://www.MunsterKoach.com) Munsters#1 03-04-2005, 06:02 PM Thanks for your help! I put the bid on it, and won it. IT'S FINALLY MINE!!!!!!! :D :D :D I can't wait to read it! There still are a few listings of the book on ebay from other sellers, if you want to get a new one, dirtprod. http://search-desc.ebay.com/Munsters-Stephen-Cox_W0QQsofocusZbsQQsbrftogZ1QQsojsZ1QQfromZR10QQsacatZ-1QQcatrefZC6QQftsZ2QQftrtZ1QQftrvZ1QQsadisZ200QQfposZ44129QQfsopZ1QQfsooZ1QQcoactionZcompareQQcopagenumZ1QQcoentrypageZsearch dirtprod 03-04-2005, 06:22 PM Congratulations on the auction win! Thanks for the heads up, too! My best, Dirt MunsterKoach.com (http://www.MunsterKoach.com) Laugh30 03-04-2005, 07:08 PM Munsters#1, With how much you like the series, there's no way you won't like this book. It's well done with many subjects covered and lots of photos. If Steven Cox plans on doing a re-release of the book with revised pages, another thing he could do that would be great is this time have it printed on glossy paper stock. Munsters#1 03-04-2005, 07:42 PM I saw this ad on the front page of "The Munsters Land of Fun" Website. Sadly, the Munsters book by Stephen Cox has been temporarily canceled due to "insurmountable contractual problems." It was the publisher's choice to back out of the deal, and it has left the author and Universal hanging. If you would like to help get the book in print e-mail the publishers (Cumberland House) at info@cumberlandhouse.com and voice your comments! http://www.freehomepages.com/munsters1/munsters.html I have sent an email to that address and there is a very slim chance that the book will be re-released. :( dirtprod 03-05-2005, 11:16 AM Stephen is a real nice guy. I hope he's still shopping for a publisher and hasn't given up! :) My best, Dirt MunsterKoach.com (http://www.MunsterKoach.com) lillysmansion 03-05-2005, 11:52 AM I think he is a real nice guy also. When we first started the Munster House he called me Just to see if it was true that we were building the Munster house. When I needed some good pictures of the house he was able to send them and that helped alot. I really appreciated his help and I wish him the best and hope he does find a publisher, because The Official Ghoul Guide The Munsters is a great book for any Munster fan. Thanks Sandra Munsters#1 03-05-2005, 02:23 PM If there is an updated version, I would definitaly buy it! Schmoe56789 03-05-2005, 08:43 PM I saw this ad on the front page of "The Munsters Land of Fun" Website. [I]Sadly, the Munsters book by Stephen Cox has been temporarily canceled due to "insurmountable contractual problems."... Sadly, I've had that same "news item" up for over three (?) years now. I think the new edition was originally going to come out in October of 2001. Hopefully it'll come out by the 50th anniversary at least. I, too, am really excited about the color photo section! Munsters#1 03-05-2005, 08:51 PM Has Stephen approached any other publishers? There's more than just Cumberland House. P.S. 50th Anniversary? That's in 2014! I hope he get's the new book out quicker than that. :) Munsters#1 03-09-2005, 11:15 PM The Seller just emailed me today. She sent the book this afternoon. :D Munsters#1 03-11-2005, 08:20 PM Just got the book today! I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase! :D I was worried the book would be in crummy condition, but it was amazingly clean. I almost thought it was a brand new book, when I first unwrapped it. dirtprod 03-14-2005, 03:17 PM I got another one on Ebay, too. :D Just one of those things, sometimes you just need to have two! Glad you like it! (I knew you would! I figured, what's not to like?) My best, Dirt MunsterKoach.com (http://www.MunsterKoach.com) Munsters#1 03-14-2005, 05:09 PM I read all about how Fred Gwynne, had to have Cortisone shots in his neck, and he still suffered from back problems, even in the late 80's when the book was made :( He touches very briefly on The Munsters Today. At the time, The Munsters Today had been on the air for a year, and had not been cancelled yet. He also talked about the short-lived, "The Mini-Munsters". He made a mistake in his book. He said that none of the original cast members did voices in the cartoon. Wrong! Al Lewis supplied the voice of Grandpa. I'm also a little surprised that Cox did not mention how Jack Marshall made the Munsters theme. The Munsters' theme, is probably the most memorable part of the series. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- If there is a sequel to this book, I hope he adds some more cool info! :) Laugh30 03-15-2005, 07:28 AM Lots of material in the book to enjoy. Years ago, when it was first in the bookstores, I passed on buying it because I was short on money. My regret, because it was impossible to find again. Jump ahead to 2001, my first computer and Ebay, and buying that book was possibile again. |
