i was contacted by someone who had all the episodes of moonlighting on tapes. i know they are releasing at the end of may, the first two seasons, so i was mildly interested in tapes, but if they were reasonable enough, i would fool with them.

i emailed the person who only wanted to sell and only tapes, about the quality and price

when i read the response, i nearly had a heart attack---THEY WANTED $ 50 PER 2 HOUR VHS TAPE

a new record for me, i had a person want $ 35 a disc for hawaii 5-0 recently, and another wanted $ 35 for man from uncle for each disc

then after i calmed down, i thought did someone actually buy these from this person--even one time. it would be about 34 tapes at 2 hours each, so about $ 1700 for a set, plus postage.

the next time someone balks about giving me $ 3 to $ 4 a disc for dvds if they do not have anything to trade, i will foward that email.

ya i would say thats a little rediculious!

i cant imagine anyone even paying $35-$50 per disc! considering professional retail dvd's barely even charge that for a complete set! seller is ouviously out to RAPE people! However, if anyone has a beef about paying even 5 or 6 bucks per a DVD disc, then they either

A: souldn'T be in the trading game

OR

B: has no idea how time consuming creating their own dvd's and copies of sets take.

i recently assembled the entire series of coach. results were spectacular as the sorcue was pure digital. came from a High Def 811 receiver via DVI (no inferior vhs transfer) endless, and i do mean endless hours of transcode time. not to mention assembling menus, cases and artwork. all 200 episodes took 36 discs total. even once complete, copying 36 dvd's is time consuming no matter how you do it. last i checked media isn't free either!

guess what im getting at, is if you stumble across a trader that realy wants your stuff and has NOTHING in return that interests you. if it comes down to a cash transaction. be fair about it! is $35 bucks for 1 vhs exactly fair? how many hands are up? give me a break! thats ludicrious!

Loren: $3-$4 bucks per disc is MORE then reasonable in my book. Anyone dissin' that shouldn't be trading. by the time you pay for the disc, take time burning it, its almost not worth it and people complained about that?

hmmmmmmmmmm...........

VHS is old school anyways! not to mention quality just isnt up to par, even if its a Super-VHS tape.

happy trading. that is.........happy trading for the TRUE BLUE fun traders! not the crooks :p

$50 bucks per tape! is the tape made of gold or what?
